Three CPD Injured

  • Three Chicago police officers were injured when their car flipped over while swerving to avoid a stopped car on the South Side this morning, officials said.

The crash happened shortly before 11:30 a.m. near the 7000 block of South Stony Island Avenue, police said.

Three tactical officers were responding to a call when their car lost control while trying to avoid a car and it flipped over, according to Police Supt. Garry McCarthy.
All injuries were described as "non-life threatening," but that can be misleading. Hopefully, all recover in short order.

To the three injured Officers, I hope that it's true that your injuries have been downgraded from critical and that you all heal quickly. It's so chilling to hear of an accident like yours, when you were on your way to such a call. It takes but one second for things to go so terribly wrong and I hate hearing that it's the cops who suffered and could have lost their lives. I know it's all part of the job, but nobody wishes this upon you when you take your oath. I thank God you all miraculously survived. Godspeed to you three! You are in my thoughts and prayers! Stay Safe and Stay Strong!

Thank God all three officers are doing fine. No serious injuries. I am sure all three were wearing their seat belts. Lesson to some of the officers on the job who don't wear their seat belts; WEAR YOUR SEAT BELT!

Best wishes. Non-life threatening does not mean non-career ending!
Unfortunately I learned this hard way.

Hope they heal quickly...DON'T HAVE BACK SURGERY!!!!!! Try EVERY other option first! A bunch of people tried to warn me, but of course I followed medical advice and had the surgery. The surgeon is looking out for his best interest! Waiting for the Pension Board to vote on my disability status and yet another surgery while being in ridiculous pain for well over a year. Don't make the same mistakes I made!

Again, good luck to all involved!

One of the officers told McGoofy he would not be alive if it wasn't for the seatbelt. So, now you have an idea if they were or not.

slow down. It's not that serious boys and girls. I don't understand how coppers fly to (bullshit) calls half the time and all for what? Your safety and your partners should be your #1 priority. Yes and even 10-1 calls. You won't do anyone any good if you get hurt on the way to a call. Hoping for a speedy recovery.
