Crime Still Down

  • Two people were dead and at least 15 more were wounded in weekend violence across the city, including an Englewood neighborhood man shot to death at 11:15 a.m. Saturday by police who thought he was armed with a gun.

Angry residents of the neighborhood threw bottles and rocks at officers in protest after Jamaal Moore, 23, was shot to death by an officer who thought he saw Moore reach for a gun as he fought with police, police said.
We seem to be stuck in the 490's in total homicides. There's going to have to be a final kick at the end to push it over 500, but we know Englewood can pull it off.

MULTIPLE GUNMEN OPEN FIRE IN ASSAULT ON CHICAGO SCHOOL BUS

It cannot happen in Englewood. Deputy Leo will not like being sent back to Commander status. Heard he bought gallons of Red Bull and plenty of eye black to roll 24/7 until the end of the year. It will not happen in 007!

Won't the bones found in the lake by the Marine Unit be counted this year as a dead body? That should help us get closer to 500.

500 may be out of reach, but I'd be interested to know the year end tally for all people shot but wound up surviving thanks to the tax payers paying all their medical bills. The number would probably be shocking to the average person because the weekly number for shootings reported on SCC normally greatly outnumber the death tally.

Just an interested citizen.

Leo I commend the fact you are a hard worker, but why not put that effort in a neighborhood with decent paying taxpayers that actually want a safe neighborhood and get no police service. Let the animals die off.

what is the right number I swear its gotta be at 496 497. I bet you the city hides it somehow at 499, and 10 death investigations pending. Later to be classified as homicides in march of 2013 on page 36 of the suntimes.

Remember the episode on The Wire when they found like 30 bodies in the vacants. The mayor and police chief said we will wait to make them homicides till next year to keep the numbers down. Freaking great.

there is a curious thread on everyblock about a mysterious unreported shooting which is said to have occured up on Cullom in the 16th.

Even the alderman has no report on it. Did it really happen?
