Quiet Down Peasants!

  • With gangland shootings becoming an every-day occurrence in Chicago, the Board of Commissioners in surrounding Cook County is trying anew to tackle the deadly problem -- with another tax.

But already, some are questioning whether the move is more about making a statement than addressing the violence.

Under the new law, Cook County is charging an additional $25 tax on every handgun sold inside county lines.

Gun shop owner Fred Lutger said this fee targets legal gun buyers, and not the gangsters responsible for many of Chicago's homicides.
Well, you know Preckwinkle wouldn't want to actually tax gangbangers. They don't have jobs, they don't have futures, and they have a lot of guns, so it wouldn't make sense to ask them to come up with money.

But Joe Schmo taxpayer? Get the money from him.

Of course, Econ 101 comes into play here - something Preckwinkle never studied:
  • Opponents of the law, though, warn that the tax could backfire -- by driving buyers and even businesses out of Cook County.

Preckwinkle said she would be "astonished" if businesses actually left Cook over the tax.

But County Commissioner Tim Schneider said: "I think we're astonished many times when businesses leave the county, but they do."

Cook County has been down this road before. There is a tax on bottled water -- one of the highest sales taxes in the country. An increase in the cigarette tax fell dramatically short of projected revenue because tobacco store owners hoarded up the tax stamps before the increase went into effect.
Not to mention the thousand of people who just end up going over the border into Indiana or surrounding counties.  Moron politicians.

AULD LANG SYNE CHICAGO VERSION "COLD GANGS SIGN"

When gunshots ring to steal your bling
Give it up don't say "it's mine"
They'll stomp you till your life you cling
This is all a Cold gangs' sign

They'll knock you down just as you text
Cause your phone was oh so fine
You'll never know what hit you next
This is just a Cold gangs' sign

    Should home invasions be forgot
Bolt the doors and get your nine
Then fire until they all be shot
    It's another Cold gangs' sign

For Cold gangs' sign my dear
    For Cold gangs' sign
    The chair we'd cheer
    To end our fear
Say farewell to Cold gangs' sign

    The baby's daddy, momma too
Wait for all their checks in line
We all know that the blame's on you
Cause you taught the Cold gangs' sign

They rape and kill just for the thrills
Beatings make your eyes all shine
The revruns say they have no skills
They're all part of Cold gangs' sign

    The politicians want the vote
With the thugs they all aline
    For generations they took note
Now they love the Cold gangs' sign

Lemme tie up this unicorn over here by the gumdrop tree.

...and damned if I didn't just hear from an old friend who's moved into an adjacent state. Likes to ride a bike.

"[I have a]Trek 40. The company started giving out...service gifts...before I retired. I picked the bike. I usually carry my .380 when I ride. Old guy on a new bike could attract the wrong kind of attention. But then about everyone I know carries and the crime rate here is very, very low."

    "Coincidence?"

    Must be.

Well, chicago crook county isn't known for smart politicians. I haven't bought bottled water in chicago in many years and just about everyone I know buys most of their products outside cook county. My family is buying an Apple I-PAD for around $900 and we will be driving to Oak Brook, IL to avoid the high cook county tax. I buy all my firearms and ammo in Dupage or other collar counties now. I haven't purchased gas in chicago in at least 10 years. I never buy alcohol in chicago because there is a $1.75 chicago tax per case on top of the crook county tax. Go to the Niles COSO and avoid the tax. In the last 5 years all 6 of my family members have moved out of chicago and only one remains in cook county now. It's really sad what the politicians have done to cook county over the years. Very dumb leaders.

Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, has more levels of government with the power to levy taxes against the citizens than any other state in the U.S.

Many of these taxing bodies are either completely unnecessary or bloated with elected officials and/or additional employees to the point that they have become totally ineffective. Many duplicate services that are provided by other levels of government (eg. IDOT & The Illinois State Toll Highway Authority or ISTHA) and some seem to be purely in place to provide executive level jobs and salaries to people with political or mob ties. Gotta tax the peasants to pay those big salaried and connected bureaucrats!

Any wonder Illinois is the MOST CORRUPT STATE in the U.S.?

GET READY - HERE IT COMES!

Federal Program Ends Dec. 29; Regular Unemployment Continues

IDES Faces 20 Percent Federal Budget Cut

CHICAGO - A list of public and private programs to assist individuals losing unemployment insurance because the federal Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) program ends Dec. 29 is available at the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES).

The compiled data at www.ides.illinois.gov/resources offers guidance for citizens and Veterans who might need assistance with food, clothing or shelter. The list represents often-used programs and is not meant to be exhaustive. Also at the website are tips for those considering starting their own business.

An estimated 90,000 people who worked in Illinois are eligible for the federal Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) program, which represents weeks 26-53 of the unemployment insurance safety net. The EUC program ends Dec. 29. The state regular unemployment insurance program continues. The state program represents the first 25 weeks of unemployment insurance. After Dec. 29, approximately 2,800 people each week will complete their eligibility for the state's regular program and not have access to the federal EUC.

Further, IDES is federally funded and funding is partly tied to the number of people collecting unemployment. That number will fall because federal EUC ends ($16M cut) and there are fewer people collecting the state's regular unemployment ($11M cut). When combined with potential cuts from the fiscal cliff ($17M cut), IDES' budget could be cut $44 million annually, or about 20 percent. These cuts come at a time when the numbers of claims remain 38 percent higher than prior to the recession. The cuts represent operational costs, not benefits.

To live within its budget, IDES already has non-scheduled 216 intermittent employees, consolidated eight offices and vacated 10 outpost locations shared with partners. The federal cuts might necessitate further service reductions, including additional office consolidations.

The unemployment rate identifies those who are out of work and seeking employment. A person who exhausts benefits, or is ineligible, still will be reflected in the unemployment rate if they actively seek work. Unemployment insurance is a temporary program designed to help individuals and businesses during economic downturns. Every $1 in unemployment insurance generates $1.63 in economic activity because the dollars are quickly spent at neighborhood businesses such as groceries, gas stations and clothing stores.

TAX BREAKS - THE SCAM THAT KEEPS RAPING US.

Ever think about why these tax breaks that they pass have an expiration date on them?

That's so they can play a numbers game and keep raping the taxpayers.

    See, it works like this.

They pass a tax break with an expiration date say two, three, four years out maybe.

Then when it comes time to estimate the budget, and the debt that they put us under they use the current laws and run the budget forecast for maybe ten years or more.

Welp, according to the law the tax break is suppose to expire in say three years. So the political apparatus uses that expiration date as though it's going to happen -- then when calculating years 4 to 10 let's say since the tax break is suppose to expire the government will have more money coming in in years 4 to 10.

But it's a scam. Doing this they can say that we'll have a balance budget in "x" years.

However when you keep extending the tax breaks all that is bullshit

The government never sees that additional income when the tax break expires because they keep extending it so there will be no balanced budget.

Fiscal Cliff will be more of the same. Pass the tax break for three more years then pretend like it will really expire and project that this new Grand Plan is going to save us all in 20 years bringing the debt to zero.

It's just kicking the can down the road doing the same thing over and over.

    Get it?

Two million people about to get kicked off their extended unemployment and 90,000 of them are in Illinois.

Downstate the Mississippi River is shutting down due to the drought, it's too shallow to navigate. Google it.

Millions of dollars worth of commodities travel that river. Expect another loss of about 20,000 jobs.

I'm not sure how Illinois Nuc Reactors used to generate electricity will hold up. During the summer the cooling water in the pools that cool these things fell below their collection pipes and some of them had to get special authorization to keep running them.

The Fed Payroll Tax decrease that Illinois stolen via the State income tax increase. Well that goes back hitting everyone's paycheck in Illinois reducing their take home pay by 2%

Remember, Rahms budget number games are dependent on an improving economy. Think we'll get it?

CTA fare increases of 16%. Parking increases of 13%. tax-tax-tax then cut everyone's income by 2%. BAM!

I was at Shore's Gallery last week, he is one of the largest gun dealers in the County, and he is letting his inventory go down and is about to relocate. Well, let's see what Mike Masters thinks since he was miraculously allowed to wear a weapon inside the Cook County Building as if he was a law enforcement officer.

Word is at headquarters, several phone calls were made by County employees complaining of seeing this little guy walking the halls with a gun, as if he was bigger than life itself. Headquarters had to redirect the calls to the Sheriffs office.

Funny thing, since he was never a policeman, does he even know the Use of Force Model? One day, someone is going to seek his assistance and he's going to have to say, "sir/mam, I'm not a policeman or the Sheriff, your going to have to call 9-1-1."

We need to get rid of all the deadwood on the Cook County Board.

They are so out-of-touch it isn't even funny anymore.

Let's start making the criminals pay for their behavior - not the law-abiding citizen.

If you commit a crime, you AND your family are cut off of ALL public aid, Food Stamps and free cellphones.

Stop coddling criminals while you hassle taxpayers.

That also goes for the suburban police who won't stop a gang banger but will stop a white driver to give a speeding ticket to help make their suburb's "quota" for their municipal budget shortfall.

Cops should be cops - not agents for the Sheriff of Nottingham "collecting a tax" while you drive through their suburb.

(AND please, don't say "just drive slower" because there are many places that drop from 45 to 25 or 30 just to catch someone doing "15 over" so they can "collect their tax".)

Same goes for redlight cameras - touted to be "real revenue generators" for the suburbs until the public gets so fed up they threaten to boycott Woodfield - all of a sudden the cameras disappeared on Meachem Rd.

Let them charge $25 more per gun -that just drives business over to the gun stores "across the county line".

Great example is Cabela's in Hoffman Estates. Why pay 10% Cook County Sales tax when you can go to GAT GUNS just down the street in Kane County or to Marengo Guns?

Cabela's has closed up its second floor because business has not been what they thought it would be.

GAT GUNS is building a $5 Million addition. Business has been great.

And sales tax doesn't make a difference on where you buy?

    Wake up.

Chicago and Cook County are headed in the same downward spiral as Detroit.

Greedy politicians who don't have a clue in what to do for regional economic development except to raise taxes to pay for all their patronage (relatives') jobs.

Available online to make your own soda pop; comes with 1 liter bottles, and assorted flavors, no empty cans or bottles to throw away, got sugar free too if you have the " sugars ".
Tax on plastic bottles, tax on soda, tax on carbonated water, F**K these tax-aholic politicians.
I'll shop anywhere but Chicago, and get immense satisfaction knowing my money isn't part of that $ 55 million Maggie Park.

The Red Light Cameras are Mayor Daley Cams. The Speed Cameras are Rhammie the Commie Cams. The two little midgets who could.

Between the Sanctuary City and growing gang problem spilling into former safe areas, the City is done for.

It's interesting to look at some state's tax rates:

    For instance:
    Maryland/Michigan 6% state, no local.
Oregon,Delaware,Montana,New Hampshire: No state, no local.
Wisconsiin 5 state, up to 1.5% local.

Now, we can't survive in this state w/o bottled water, gun, soda pop, etc etc taxes. WTF is wrong here?!?!?!

Many non-perishable items can be bought for less on Amazon, no sales tax and they bring it to your door, 2nd day delivery for free with Amazon Prime.

Why should I give Prenckwinkle money? Sorry for Cook County gun stores but I go out of Cook County for all gun and ammo purchases. Whiting Indiana for gas, I don't smoke cigarettes and J&R Cigars delivers my cigars with no sales tax.

If I did smoke cigarettes, I know the convenience stores in my district that will sell me non-taxed cigarettes from their private stash. Good luck finding them Prenkwinkle.

The second admendment cleary states your right to bear arms shall not be INFRINGED upon. Id say cook countys agressive tactics to go after gun owners and gun buisnesses can be called infringment. Whether it be an agenda or in the name of public safety, Let's be honest this is another example of the government/media complex trying to throw out the constitution and control the people how the see fit, forgetting that they work for the people. Chicago is the perfect example of how our democracy has turned into a medival fedual system of kings and peasants.

That is entirely BULLSHIT. There is no way for them to monitor who is cut off yet seeking employment, so they 'guesstimate' at a lower rate so it doesn't look as dismal. AND the $1.63 return is total bullshit. They are basing that on tax on the dollar spent , which includes the businesses tax and sales tax that the state gets, BUT what they fail to do is DEDUCT the $1.00 that was paid out from the same taxes. Its all bullshit skewing of the $$, just like the bailout for GM which will end up costing tax payers over $12 billion when its paid in full.

    ComEd...a few pennies more a month won't bother me....If 9.5 sponsored this I'm out...pass it around."

    12/29/2012 09:27:00 AM

Yes, someone sure had all kinds of graphic anti-coal posters in those Decaux bus shelters. Photos of the stacks at Fisk/Crawford taken on a zero winter day when the hot air would give something to photograph. I watched those for years on a clear blue summer afternoon and there was very little to see, they ran as clean as anyone could.

A lot of the coal traffic wasn't even Illinois jobs, BNSF spent millions building "super railroad" into Powder River Basin in Wyoming to bring the best low-sulfur coal here. Still not good enough for Rahm/Greenpeace/"environmental racism" hispanoradicals. State Line plant in Indiana closed too. Have not seen anything about the loss of traffic/jobs on BNSF, CP, other railroads.

Let's buld windmills and shit while we insanely double and redouble the population. This isn't even running in place. Destructive social engineering.

I like gun racks. The best ones on TV were the ones Andy Taylor had in his Mayberry Sheriff's Office and the one the Cartwrights had at the Ponderosa.

The Cartwrights were some bad mother-fuckers. They never lost a fight one on one. They always shot straight. They had a tab at the local saloon. Ben had three wives and got rid of all three. They got all the hot chicks and never married them. They had money. Hop-Sing cooked for them.

    Damn. I wish I was a Cartwright.
