It's a Miracle!

The dead have risen!!!

Or at least one of them has.

Sort of:
  • Hours after Chicago police listed the shooting death of a West Side man as the city’s 500th homicide of the year, the department backtracked and said the city has yet to reach the grim milestone.

Superintendent Garry McCarthy had told the Tribune Thursday afternoon that the homicide count stood at 499. Hours later, Nathaniel T. Jackson, 40, was gunned down outside a store in the Austin neighborhood and the department confirmed Friday morning that his death was the 500th homicide. Mayor Rahm Emanuel released a statement noting that "Chicago has reached an unfortunate and tragic milestone."

But then the department issued its own statement calling reports of the tally inaccurate, saying the number remained at 499.  Asked for clarification, a spokeswoman for the superintendent said one of the homicide cases from earlier this week has been reclassified as a death investigation.
Of course, the real reason can be found in our comment section:
  • Nope time to update again scc.... It appears gmac shit a brick at the morning phone conference with all of the commanders and demanded we stay under 500... Then poof, [someone] offered the supt a case that could be reclassified to a death investigation... So now the dept officially came out and said we are at 499. This was info from a commander who was on the morning call but has now been confirmed via the statement and story by the tribune this afternoon... Yep it's all legit
What a joke.

Hey media? You're being lied to. Again. And you're lapping it up like ice cream. Why don't some of you "investigative reporter" twits ask how many "death investigations" are currently open? We'll bet more than a dozen. And here you have the some exempt member offering to reclassify a murder. And not a single media type touches the fact that the FBI won't accept Chicago stats, and for good reason.

Here's a Pulitzer gift wrapped for you morons and years worth of material pointing directly at the Machine and the Combine and every other crooked pol out there.  But you don't want to rock the boat?

Here's a little nugget - Chicago passed 500 over two weeks ago if you add in the death investigation totals.

Don't worry, I have an open Death Investigation that I still need to reclassify. That is, once all of the other police shootings and murders stop and I can get back to work on it. Its a new assignment every single day I tell you!

The city has always kept 10 - 15 cases a year classified as "Death Investigation" so as not to make Chicago look like the Murder Capital of the America!! It's like back in the mid 2000s on New Year's Eve when a man on Bt 2511 shot his wife & Leo Schmitz was the Sgt. on the scene. He got a phone call from the Supt. who did not want another murder, which would have put the city over 600. Leo promised Phil that he could count on him. That case was classified as Accidental. I know, I was there!!! Not my paper!

It is well known that numbers from Chicago are no good. And it doesn't matter what numbers, crime numbers, dollars that something might cost or attendance at an even. Remember all those years the City declared "1.5 MILLION" attended the 4th of July fireworks on the 3rd of July. Those figures came from some guy in an office who looked at a TV and pulled some numbers out of his ass.

Chicago is full of shit. 500 homicides is full of shit. It likely is closer to 520.

Idiot news reporters. Like 499 vs. 500, no biggie. Like it matters. Gonna be tough to hold them all past the first. Somebody shot in the head 4 times, can't reclassify that no matter what your paperwork says!

The more important number is the number of actual shootings. We had way more homicides years ago but people fail to mention the advances in medical technology that are keeping people alive. The paramedics have better training and equipment and are getting to shooting scenes faster than before and are able to stabilize victims whereas years ago these same victims would bleed out and die on the way to the e.r. The number of shootings period should be the important number and the mayor and sup should give a big thank you to the doctors, nurses and paramedics for keeping the homicide numbers as low as they are because if it wasn't for them we'd be hitting 600 to 700 homicides a year easily. They should also be thankful of where we are located geographically because if we had San Diego or L.A.'s climate year round we would probably hit 800 homicides a year without batting an eye.

Before you all go shouting in ecstacy, do you remember a guy named Phil Cline? Phil brought Compstat from New York and called it the DOC. Numbers based policing as well as phoney accountability. He even promoted POs and a Sgt to exempt rank. The Captains also flourished. As far as the 500, ask anyone in 025 about New Years Eve when Sgt (now Dep Chief) Schmitz took care of the 500th and a very surprised offender walked out of the police station. He and Daley brought you Abbatte, weakened hiring, Vanecko and the pension trouble.

Flash forward a few years and what have you got. Compstat, XOs and swiping on the horizen. You've also got VRI lining a lot of pockets, new hires in the academy, more sgts and detectives promoted than there have been in years with new promotion testing on the way.

Rahm's the new kid on the block. Our pension woes rest with the Daleys, Madigans, Cullertons and the like. Rahm can't do anything without the blessing of the State. He thought good will could control the beast. I guess we all no the answer to that.

Jody, doesn't seem so bad. If it hadn't been for the inexcusable act of f***ing Cozzi, he'd probably be our best Supt in the history of those who are currently on the job.

Bloomberg ram's it up Rahm's behind..

NY Times Dec 28, 2012..

414 Homicides in ’12 Is a Record Low for New York City

Is it me? Don't these NYPD recruits look like they're laughing at Rahm and Gary?

"[..}.. Mr. Bloomberg acclaimed the accomplishment during a graduation ceremony for more than 1,000 new police officers at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. He attributed the low murder rate to the department’s controversial practice of “stop, question and frisk,” in which people are stopped on the street and questioned by officers, and aggressive hot-spot policing, in which officers are deployed to areas with crime spikes. Shootings are also down for the year so far. The number of murders is the lowest since 1963, when improvements in the recording of data were made.

The Police Department said thefts of Apple products had risen by 3,890, which was more than the overall increase in “major crimes.”

In the last two decades, trumpeting declines in crime trends has become an annual end-of-the-year event, even when the numbers inched up. "

***

Six precincts recorded no murders as of Friday afternoon: The 7th on the Lower East Side; the 19th on the Upper East Side; the 112th in the Forest Hills and Rego Park neighborhoods of Queens; the 94th in Greenpoint, Brooklyn; the 76th in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn; and Central Park, according to the police.

Of the 414 murders, 14 deaths from previous years were counted as homicides for the first time, like in the Patz case. In many of these cases, victims of long-ago shootings died of sepsis in hospitals, the police said.

Of the 400 murders in 2012, 223 were gunshot victims, 84 victims were stabbed to death, 43 died of blunt trauma and 11 died of asphyxiation. The majority of the 400 homicides occurred on a Saturday, followed by early Sunday morning. Most occurred at 2 a.m. People were more likely to be killed outside than in.Nearly 70 percent of the victims had prior criminal arrests, the police said.

Domestic-related homicides dropped to 68, from 94 in 2011.

The likelihood of being killed by a stranger was slight. The vast majority of the homicides, Mr. Kelly said, grew out of “disputes” between a victim and killer who knew each other.
***

Read the entire thing here http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/29/nyregion/414-homicides-is-a-record-low-for-new-york.html?partner=rss&emc=rss&smid=tw-nytimes&_r=0

Of course maybe they just cook their numbers better than Chicago does eh?

However assuming they're right one might ask how come McCarty can't see to get his aggressive hot spot policing tactics to work?

Maybe it's the 1,000 recruits that are graduating the NYPD that's the reason?

Like I said in my other posts, we won't get the real numbers. When it hits 507 508 510 ect, then they can't lie. And if this was Dec 31 oh boy would they be bullshiting the real numbers.

Not a problem we got the weekend coming, for sure someone out there will take some lead in the head and they won't be able to change it to a DEATH INVESTIGATION.

lies all lies my friends.

So freaking what? We still have three days left and damnit I know we can do it! Our thugs go that extra mile every day. I have no doubt solely through their tireless efforts we will exceed 500 by at least two before midnight on the 31st.

Why would we do that? Our job is to provide propaganda for the Party. The proletariate masses must be led down the right path. Any counter revolutionary ideas must be eliminated.

Let's see what 2013 brings.

12/28/2012 08:34:00 PM

For a Rahm troll, you don't write very well. The last two 'leaders' have brought more politics into the Department. THAT is the problem.

Politicians cause problems, plain and simple. The more political they are, the more they screw things up.

We need policemen running police departments.

We need business men running the business end of this Country.

We need career politicians to clean the bathrooms.

it's simple. After the "official" homicide numbers are released at the end of the year, all of those "death investigations" can be reclassified as "Homicides". Nobody even hears mention of this after January 1st!

We have a Code of Silence on all crime statistics. It's the North Shore way. The Chicago way was to kick the criminals in the ass and make sure they feared us enough to keep the good people safe. The North Shore way is to lie and fake numbers while paying off gang bangers with a million dollars to pretend they're "interrupting" shootings.

How do you like the new way you voted for, idiots? Enjoy it! There's more to come!

Two issues. #1. Its not the reclassification of Death Investigations...its the reclassification of "Delayed Fatals" meaning those Agg Batt victims that died months after being shot due to complications, infections, etc. Those are what will drive up the homicide numbers. Rumor has it that Area Central is sitting on several due to their commander.

#2. Crime is down? You want to see the real numbers. Look at the number of jobs coded out because the victim was gone. They couldn't wait hours to report the crime because there were no officers available to respond and make a report. Just because the crime is never reported doesn't mean that it didn't happen (except to Rahm and McCarthy). Add those to the actual numbers and you will most likely see no decrease at all.

What constant promotions are you talking about. Sgt's Lt's Exempts. We have more supervisors than ever before. Read the comstat minutes, Even the edited down version on line shows that McDumbass promotes so that the new promotees will have to owe him and tow the company line.

This is the first Det class in almost 5 years.

12/28/2012 05:26:00 PM

Yeah, like our officer who had ten surgeries in one month on one of these.

"Well fast forward a month, and he's dead from sepsis as a result of the gun shot wound. ME rules it a homicide but it's still listed as agg bat."

...but is this one "stabilized" or "unresponsive?"

Not to worry -- it was/was not a "random act."

And now you know why 9 out of 10 exempt members, including Chief of Detectives Thomas Byrne is a merit promotee! And now you see what they are asked to do in return for their merit promotion. And maybe the Asian American registered nurse accidentally ran herself over in her Bridgeport garage while checking her engine oil level instead of being brutally murdered by Dude. Now were down to 498! Right Chief?

from a citizen troller: Hey, lets not quibble about 499 or 500 on December 28th McNuts. The end of the year is midnight, Monday. You will certianly be past 500 by then. Get your laugh gag up and ready because it is quite conceivable that you will be burdened with at least one upstanding citizen in Chicago who could be shot in celebration and you will have to figure was it really before or after midnight or just on the stroke of mid night. Quibble on Tuesday. You cops stay safe and don't worry about those idiots shooting at midnight. Be in for coffee somewhere.

Yup.

Just like a Bozo cartoon...

McHamHead's weapon of choice is a bullshit loaded blunderbuss labeled "Fuckery With Numbers For Fun."

He fired it sucessfully while at NYPD and Newark PD.

He needed an extra dose of powder to make the damn thing work at CPD.

Massive back-blast of shit & fire through the butt instead of out the business end...

Hence his ire at the Coppers in the trenches for not playing along and "helping" him out...

*Fuck these Coppers here in Chicago... I'll stick it to 'em and walk 'em to a stand-still! I don't need their help! I'm Garry Muthafuckin' McCarthy! Watch this... KA-MUTHAFUCKIN'-BLOOOEY!*

Another law enforcement gypsy has his dreams, ambitions and delusion of grandeur post CPD, blowing the fuck up in his face.

McMakersmark was on the radio tonight saying that crime is down in spite of 500 homicides since police are getting more guns off the street and police arrest thousands more gangbangers than in year's past.

He blamed the many folks with fatal holes in them on the IL State legislature for not enacting strict gun laws like in NY. He claims NY has mandatory minimum prison term for assholes caught doing bad things with a gun. That's the reason!

Reporter forgot to ask about the 1,000 NYPD recruits who graduated the other day.

Yes, it starts at a single or double parent home, which teaches moral values (or ethics, if atheist or agnostic).
