Remember all our deployed Cops
These brave soldiers would be ashamed to see how their sacrifice was being used on the South and West sides of the city.
They gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country they deserve a better government than we have today. If this continues it would be a slap in the face for these HEROES.

God bless all our beloved American heroes who fought and gave so much. Each generation has to go to war it seems, so many dead and wounded to uphold our American code of honor and decency. Thank you with all my heart for your service. To my son and nephew for voluntering for duty in the Irag/Afganistan wars, and becoming wounded warriors, special thanks to you, and your brothers in combat still serving today. Let us not forget these brave souls serving now and all who served before them. Grateful American
Thanks, Dad.
I miss you every day.
Even if you hate Obama you have to thank him for getting us OUT of Iraq. We wasted so much money and lives "nation building". Never again should we do this. How about we nation build here in USA?
Bring back the Powell doctrine as the standard to fight and win wars.
God Bless Them All

Hello Balcer Lip service
I want to give thanks to SCC, local police, all first responders, and of course, our military.
- a fan from Naperville.
God Bless you Officers too.
A vet.
All gave some, some gave all.
Too bad Obama doesn't realize that.
Godspeed to my granpa Hershell, whom I never met. KIA 26Feb45 in the Rhineland Germany, and to all the other service members that gave their lives defending this country.
My undying gratitude to all the servicemen and women in our armed forces. My prayers are with you. May God keep you safe and return you to the warmth and love of your families.

Give the Democratic talking points a rest today, please.
Thanks Dad, and all like him that left their homes and families to make our Country safe.
When is the last time you thanked one of our brave military out in uniform in public? I hope it makes them feel at least half as good as it makes me feel.
Nice City Parade for politicians but truly what is the Thanks for Veterans of War? City does Nothing but photo Ops
Don't feel guilty Just Thank Out combat Veterans
I agree that our men and
women who are currently
serving in the armed forces
and who have sacrificed their lives to defend the
United States are working
for an ungrateful goverment
who has no compunctions about putting them in harms
way in some foreign country
that hates the U.S. and what
it stands for. And most of the congressmen, and the president, have never served
in the military so they don't have a clue. Bring the
boys and girls home and stop
the senseless lost of these
young lives. In spite of all
it's faults, God Bless The
United States, America The
Beautiful. A salute to you SCC.
My HRI Dan MaGuire deployed over 6 times in the GWOT
CPD Command Staff at the Parade WTF? How many served in what military?

Yeah, Obama may hve got us out of Iraq but why can't he
get us completely out of Afganistan ? And is he covertly trying to slide us
into that civil war in Syria ? Have not these presidents learned that the
United States cannot police
the world, especially with all the turmoil going-on
back here at home that needs to be addressed ?
Fluff The BBQs My guys fought and died for a better America
Is the US Flag flying over your house today Are you worthy of their sacrifice
Even if you hate Obama you have to thank him for getting us OUT of Iraq.
. . . and fully into Afghanistan and Benghazi
To my father and grandfather who served honorably along with all the other veterans. I am grateful to all of you. Thank you
Hey dumbass Chalkie- hodgie doesn't surf! Ask any veteran.
Let's honor the heroes and honor ourselves for our own heroic actions!
"Even if you hate Obama you have to thank him for getting us OUT of Iraq. We wasted so much money and lives "nation building". Never again should we do this. How about we nation build here in USA?"
Yep, out of Iraq and into Afghanistan. Glad you kept your 1st term promise of getting us out of Iraq. What did it take, 4 plus years to do so?
Just sayin'
Retired P.O. and did 2 tours in Nam. Glad to SERVE but it was HELL on earth. And these little bosses never saw any ACTION!. The only thing the asshole Supt Mccarthy did was get drunk and shoot out a street light. Hope your kids are proud of you sir.
I'm proud to be an American,
Where at least I know I'm free,
And I won't forget the men who died,
To give that right to me
For the troll who posted Obama got us out of Iraq,WAKE UP. The world is a safer place without Saddam, and Obama and Clinton allowed the slaughter in Benghazi. The world is a more dangerous place with our appeasing, Champagne Communist Administration. I can't help but feel sadness for the sacrifices of so many in our military in a country that is so forgettful or appalled by their very existence.
We live in a clueless society that believes Chief Keef is a brave warrior, and our military racist and sexist. We will be done within 10 yrs as a democracy.
Veterans points on promotion tests would help
What promotional tests???? I've heard of those, but never actually seen one in 7 years. I think they're extinct.

You mean Dave McGuire
"A veteran is someone who, at one point, wrote a blank
check made payable to ‘The United States of America ‘
for an amount of ‘up to and including their life.’
That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it."
from Buried at Sea by LTCol John Goodson, USMC/Retired
Happy Memorial Day to my brave dad JZ who flew 35 missions over Germany/occupied Europe. Besides helping to sAve the world, he also saved a large number of French dogs who he and his mates from "The Lucky Bastard Club" loaded into their B-17 and brought back to England. I'm pretty sure he brought back cheese and wine too! Missing you a lot today Daddy. You hit the blog!!! Ha
Freedom isn't Free but when everything else is, it creates an nonproductive element that is growing unchecked everyday. Liberals are the enemy of everything our brave military died for.

It wasn't Obama, the exit date was an agreement established by Bush with Iraq. Obama was just president when the agreement went into effect.
AMEN

no. we wont be done. there will be a reckoning soon though.
to my great grandfather who served in the Spanish American war to my grand father who served in WWI to my father and uncle that served in Korea and all those who served, past and present, thank you.
Remember when Johnnie Carson during his final monologue saluted Bob Hope Thank You -USO
Syria next 2014 After Afghanistan
I live in the Big Oaks area. And I'm not seeing many flags. People can spend money on a 50" TV but they can't spend $9.99 on a flag? Very sad. At least go to a dollar store and stick a small one in the lawn.
Off the topic a bit but still relevant.
During every Blackhawks game a retired and active member of the military is on the ice for the national anthem and are recognized for their service. During the third period they are recognized once again at which time the fans, and players, give a standing ovation to show our appreciation to our troops.
During last Satursdays game against the Wings I noticed that these ass hole Wings fans not only did they not clap, they did not even stand because they were too busy saying 3-1 (the series standings until the game ended).
I am not a Red Wings suck chanter, but these classless fans from Detroit deserve to live there. They apparently don't realize that our troops protect our country even the shithole we call Detroit. I know you are the sphincter of Canada but just a little class when it's called for.
By the way 3-3....ass holes.
Thank you our men and women in the armed forces...you are apprciated.

Imagine living in a City where the whole thing is one big Englewood. Most of the Red Wing fans are likely from the suburbs. And there are some real shit suburbs around Detroit. There was a huge migration from the hills of Kentucky for the auto jobs. Lots of real genuine Kentucky hillbillies there.
For those that love dogs.
Last week I brought you the heart wrenching story of Military Working Dog Bak’s Memorial Service at Fort Stewart Georgia. MWD Bak was killed this past March in Afghanistan.
http://khanrahan.com/2013/05/27/memorial-day-and-military-working-dog-bak/
I know it is the day after Memorial Day, but I would like to remind everyone of the fact that Memorial Day is to honor deceased veterans. Veterans Day, November 11th is set aside to honor ALL veterans Something we tend to forget, sadly.
after a quick ride thru the neighborhood I was dismayed to see very few flags flying in front of homes--- chicago is the biggest military town in the country with the most vets--- flying the flag is a way of showing our veterans our gratitude for their service, especially the ones who died under arms--- god bless our veterans....

LOL. It wouldn't surprise me if it was actually you.
On my block of 43 homes (4) had an American flag in front of their house for the holiday. Very sad!

Watch many of the openings at sporting events; players not removing their caps, no hand over the heart, can't stop chewing and spitting during the antheym. It's a good thing I am not the owner of a team, they'd be out. This is why these overpaid lowlifes will never get my dollars. Our deployed military should be making their salaries!

I just wonder if this country ever needed to bring back the draft how many would flee? 70 percent?

While I agree with you, it irks me that those cheap flags are made in China!

10:54pm great comment, RIP BAK and to the people who didn't fly the flag and live in Chicago move to Detroit.

Then, vote with your wallet.
Three years ago, I went to Menards to buy a flag. Both of their large sized flags were made outside of the USA. I didn't buy one.
I DID come home and call them and send an email message about it. I got a phone call from a customer service rep who told me they HAVE to buy outside the US because that's the only way to keep their prices down.
My response was that I'd be happy to pay a few cents more to get an AMERICAN flag that was MADE IN AMERICA, keeping an AMERICAN employed. She was very nice, very apologetic, but certainly not in a position to change policy. I asked her to at least write a note of complaint and send it up the chain. I also severely cut down my purchases at Menards.
Here we are, three years later. The US has begun to wake up, as a nation, and a groundswell of consumers is demanding more items be made in America. Menards has some US made flags. Detroit is moving some of their manufacturing home. ABC news has regular features on Made In America, which is reminding our citizens we are the ones who determine if US jobs stay in the US or are lost because of the corporate squeeze on the bottom line.
Don't buy the cheap little Asian-made flags. Don't buy the designer clothes that are made in VietNam. Just say no. Consumers drive the manufacturing choices. We CAN make a difference.

Charlie Rangel of New York wanted to bring the draft back for Iraq and Afghanistan, but of course it failed. The House refused to even consider it. lip service.
