- Six people have been killed and 16 wounded in violence across Chicago since Friday evening.
The most recent fatal shooting happened early Sunday in the Goose Island area on the city’s Near North Side.
Charles Jones, 42, the manager of a Far South Side gentleman’s club, was shot to death in a confrontation with another motorist, whose 2005 Buick LaCrosse sideswiped Jones’ Maserati, police said.
And we aren't sure if they're counting this one as a weekend homicide or backdating it 8 days:
- A 27-year-old woman was pronounced dead today, eight days after being shot along with several others after a family prom party in the Lawndale neighborhood, officials said.
A quick check of the homicide tracker reveals the following:
- May 2011 - 39 homicides
- May 2012 - 51 homicides
- May 2013 - 35 killings
Four days to go and a couple of mid-to-high 80 degree days in there. Everything is returning to normal with 2012 being the outlier.

Trib says "victim" Jones, owner of a "gentleman's" club at 120th & Doty, was driving a Maserati with Texas plates, had a D/L from Florida, and a condo on North Dearborn. I'm so confused.

Why even bother wasting taxpayer money policing the ghetto? Seriously what's the point?? Nothing will ever change and the ghetto people hate the police. Put VRI downtown and in tax paying areas.

Charles Jones was driving a Maserati and had another residence in Miami. Recently retired , I wonder if I could apply for his job at the strip club?
Off Topic: Add another body to the pile!
It appears that our idiot chief of the UCPD, MArlon Lynch, has fired his full time flunky, Milt Owens, the short lived 'Executive Assistant to the Chief,' following the disastrous undercover detective incident involving student protesters here on the U of C campus a few months back. Merit Milt has been on Administrative Leave after Chief Lynch made not one, but three different statements to the local press regarding how the plan to place one of our detectives in with the U of C student protesters took shape. Lynch stated that (1) he knew nothing of the plan, (2), the plan was never ok'd from his office, to (3) the detective wasn't 'undercover,' she was just there to ensure student safety. (all were lies). While we're not sorry to see former deputy chief Doty's #1 incompetent kissass take a permanent hike away from here, it's hard to believe that U of C administrators would all Lynch to stay after all the lies he told about what occurred. Stay tuned!
