- A suspect was being questioned by Chicago Police on Sunday in the fatal shooting of 6-month-old Jonylah Watkins in March, a law enforcement source said.
The man was taken into custody Saturday and was being questioned by Area Central Detectives, the source said.
Jonylah was struck by a bullet on March 11 as she sat with her father in a minivan in the 6500 block of South Maryland. Her father, Jonathan Watkins, was shot three times.
And why did it take so long to make an arrest? This comment gives some insight into what cops and detectives are up against each and every day:

I happened to see the parents of this baby and their "pastor" on television last night. Reporters said that the "pastor" would not allow the couple to speak. Probably because they are so fucking dumb (except for street smarts) that he was afraid of what would come out of their mouths. They called the "news conference", if you could call it that, because "an arrest was near" according to reporters. Everybody in their right mind is aware that the father knows who killed his baby and that logistics suggest he even used the baby as a shield, grama knows, everybody knows, but THEY EXPECT THE POLICE to put the puzzle together, like the CPD doesn't have anything better to do. This is evidently some sort of ghetto logic.
Now tell me why the reporters go along with this charade? Why do they give them face time? The big "scoop" here is to get someone to talk. If they have nothing to say, why cover a "press conference."
What has happened to our society? Where did all the logical, intelligent people go because I want to move there.
Oh and by the way, Daddy in the process of gettin' his GED and "turning his life around" now (per Pastor) and Mama look like she gon' have another baby. I shit you not.
