Off Duty CPD Dies (UPDATE)

The guys over at TrueNewsUSA had this item:
  • A off duty Chicago Police Sergeant suffered a fatal heart attack while driving his motorcycle in Willow Springs, IL late this evening. The Sergeant in his 40's was driving with his fiancee as the rear passenger when the heart attack occurred. The fiancee was uninjured. The name of the Sergeant is being withheld until all family members have been notified.
Prayers for the family.

UPDATE: The death of Jean-Pierre Borja, 44, from the Garfield Ridge neighborhood, has been ruled an accident, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Initially, authorities said Borja, a 21-year-veteran of the department, had apparently suffered a medical emergency late Sunday while riding on LaGrange Road by Archer Avenue in west suburban Willow Springs.

Guys and gals please try and incorporate some form of exercise or diet into your life. You don't have to be a navy seal, but please do something.

-A P.O. who knew the sgt very well and is tired of seeing good, intelligent officers gone way too soon.

Hello.

I heard about this from a friend and was extremely horrified and sad. My boyfriend & I have been here quite often on the motorcycle trying to escape the city and enjoying the beauty/quiet throughout Willow Springs. This was my first thought that a hardworking Officer is trying to escape the stress and enjoy the beauty with his fiancé.

Many prayers and much sadness.......

To: All who came there that night

Thanks

It was sad but impressive to see all those who showed up that night as the procession of an ambulance and CPD cars brought Jean to the Cook County Morgue. In the few hours following the incident the word had spread far. Now a gathering from our "Street Deputy' or what ever he is called now to new leather recruits, to Gang Enforcement were there. There were cops from several different districts where Jean had worked, some from the street some from the desks and some who were summoned from home. They were there is uniform, plain clothes and in biker grunge and as odd a collection as they made in this tragedy everyone showed respect and discipline as we made very straight ranks as all stood at attention as one of our chaplains conducted a brief service as Jean arrived at the Morgue.

Stay Safe. Thank-you everyone.

I would like some info on memorial services if possible. I did not know Sergeant Borja However I was driving down lagrange that evening and stopped to assist the officers that were on the scene until an ambulance arrived. I became somewhat obsessed later on when everything that had happened had hit me that I needed to find out who the man I tried to help was. Later I was told of the news reports. Please ...... If anyone has any information I would greatly appreciate it. I have had such a heavy heavy heart since Sunday...
If posting the info is not an option my email is

Thank you and I am so deeply sorry for everyones loss.... I have read many great things about Officer Borja......

I worked with J.P. for two years, starting in the Fall of '93. We got our own car, Beat 1222, and went to work with a vengeance.

J.P.was still lifting weights in those days, and we had to stop every couple of hours, so he could have a "snack." I gained about 20 pounds during the first six months.

J.P. was my only partner who was always eager to stop yet another car-load of bangers, even when the windchill was 20 below.

I can only imagine what J.P. would be like as a Sergeant, leading the charge,I would imagine...

Fare thee well, my friend, you will always be my partner. I will never forget.

Many times I would mobile with Candy and Borja cause we didn't have cell phones back then. Time to hit a building in the Village. They would be leading the charge to catch dude with guns and dope. That was in 1994. John would be the first through the door. No fear and was quick to layout any motherfucker. Was one of the best Chicago Police Officers ever to wear the uniform. He knew every gang in Pilsen and thise punk gangbangers feared him and Candy. Was even a better Sgt. Only the good die young. I'm so sorry my brother you were taken from us. There is no doubt that I know your soul is at peace and now you are in Heaven fighting evil. I miss and love you my brother.

Hey media cover this brave hero's life like you did the Trayvon Martin case. 21 years he gave to this city. Tomorrow is his wake and Sat his funeral. Just because he didn't die in the line of duty doesn't mean the savages take precedent over the countless acts of courage he performed for this fucking city. Like getting shot at on Western and Madison or almost stabbed at 13th and Throop. You had no problem covering garbage like Jessie Jackson Jr, I hope you do the right thing and cover the death of this great police officer. You won't. Doesn't matter, the way John was he probably wouldn't want you scum anywhere near him. God Bless you John.

John,

I want you to know what a great police officer you were. Many of times I called for an assist and you were the first one on the scene. I am so saddened that this happened to you. I find peace knowing you are in heaven riding that Harley. You loved to ride. I remember in the old 12th District your bike parked in the front. You were a true gentleman. I can still hear your laugh in the tact office as you were processing a line of gangbangers from Pilsen. You were one of the best Chicago Police Officers ever to wear that uniform. I'm going to miss you buddy. Today will be a sad day when I come to visit with you at your wake. I will be praying for your mom, dad and your girl. Goodby my friend. See you on the other side. I am sure they have an Ira's in Heaven.
