Haven't seen that many opening in a while! The way the numbers look for the nicer North side district you will need some time on, probably over 15 years to even have a chance, more for some districts. Movement is a good thing, they should open up the opportunities more. Never spend over 10 years in the same place an old timer that had 30+ in the same district told me years ago. Go someplace and make new friends. Good luck all.

OT/ I think something should be done about the tact LT in 19 he dumped two tact teams from the old 19 but kept all the guys from 23 even though there numbers are lower. He is a self serving piece of trash who gives the commander the wrong advice and that is why we have a robbery problem in 19. He should be dumped.

Don't come to 011. Cmndr and XO are idiots. Despite being in the ghetto, we used to have good bosses and had some perks to dealing with shit everyday. Those days are LONG gone. Time due denied constantly, cmndr will only talk to you if you're an m-1, XO is completely drunk on Kool Aid and was never the police so he has no clue how to run a district like 011. The watches have horrible Lieutenants that nobody can stand, and there are only a handful of good sgts spread among all 3 watches. I'm filling out a par form myself to get the hell out. To 12:22 AM who said "If you don't have minimum 15 years on,the north side districts ain't gonna happen." NOT TRUE

What, are you trying to cut out your competition? Granted you might not get days in most northside districts with under 15, but there are some choice spots opening up that haven't been open in a while. I now work in a northside district and it's nice to pick a different lunch spot every night where you can sit down and they don't hand your food to you through a turn style. There is something to be said for good food and nice looking women even though it's not on days.

I work in 018 and recommend bidding if you know you can bid days. LT J.S. on days is the real deal when it comes to bosses, and he'll always help you out if he can. LT J.P. on third watch is a really nice guy, but I guarantee you the sergeants will have you pulling your hair out within days of joining the watch. Then you have a group of crybaby midnight sergeants that are jealous because all the troops actually like and respect one of their sergeants because he treats them like adults, so they complained about him to the LT. I really feel that the worst thing that you need to deal with is the nutty sergeants throughout the district. I'm sure that it's better than answering ghetto domestics all day, but some of these bosses will certainly give you a new understanding of the word frustrating. Good luck with the bidding boys and girls.

I cant believe the people who live there dont complain of service. To the P.O. asking how the 3rd watch is in 022;
It's the same as in any other district.
You have a handful of officers who do all the work while the rest might show up to watch, offer an opinion, but not get involved.
As with other districts, officers are on 3rd watch because,
- they can't get days, so F*** It, they do their 8 hours and go home!
- they have spouses who work days, so they have babysitting issues and no way can they go to court.
Consequently, no arrests, no tickets....
-they hit the bars after work, sleep all morning, go to the gym in the afternoon and then report to work. They have a routine so they will not let an overtime arrest or court interfere with their lifestyles!
-and then you have the 20% that do all the work, manage to raise a family, coach their kids, work out at the gym and still will write a ticket and make an arrest!

Same all over, except here in 022, the dogs are the first to say that they are here to protect the home front, sure, you respond to the calls in mt. Greenwood and Beverly, but when you get there, you're there as an observer, don't get caught actually putting handcuffs on anyone, that means arrest, paper and court. Let's be truthful, by coming to protect the home front this allows you to kill a half hour hanging out in mt greenwood at the call, another half hour at white hen, another 45 to 60 minutes for lunch and then check out your friends in the Kennedy park, mt greenwood park softball leagues and don't forget to check out the bars to see which one you'll stop at after work!!! That's how to kill a minimum of 2 +hours "protecting the home front."

So, if your part of the 20%, we will be glad to have you,

Wow...you're an idiot. Believe me junior, I'm glad I'm leaving too. People like you make it so easy to go. At no point was there any "tearing us down" as you put it. My information was regarding the bosses. If you are one (even though you claim to be a "blue shirt", then perhaps you are one that nobody can stand). If you're a P/O...well, it just leaves me with little hope for the future of the department. You see, I'm one of those guys that still actually enjoys being a police officer. I am proud of my job. I don't really care if I work in the ghetto or on the lakefront. However, I can't stand having bad bosses, who are clueless about police work. I've been doing this job a long damn time and while I respect the fact that we need supervision, such supervision must be fair and competent. These qualities are lacking in our leadership from sgts through the cmndr in 011. As I said originally, we have a handful of good sgts (and for the record, I stated that nobody could stand the LTs). Every district has bad bosses, but as was my point earlier, the good no longer outweigh the bad. When that happens, it's time to hit the bricks. If you want to stick around and get treated the way P/Os are treated in 011, by all means. But you know that the things I've said are true. Quit trying to be a hero. They don't give you any awards at retirement for a nice long career of being shit on.

They don't give you any awards at retirement for a nice long career of being shit on.

get off the soap box super cop. Just leave already, we are tired of your bitching and moaning...enjoy the next district, wish we could be there when you see all districts are basically the same: not enough blue shirts to handle the work, the chosen ones who always get taken care of, the kool aid drinking XO's, the over-staffed Caps and inside people, the bosses who are on ur ass, the POs who don't do a thing,...etc etc etc...your head will probably explode. Fool.

I worked with MS in 004 tact when your Mom was pushing you around in a buggy. he was a good copper then and remained a worker to his last day. when people talk about protecting the home front, this is a guy who actually did it, on the tact team then on the watch. As to his hair? He was allowed to have the long hair for medical reasons. But since you know so much about him you knew that right? Here's an idea, if you know where he hangs out, why don't you go give your opinion to his face?

Allowed to have long hair for medical condition? Hey that's one I never heard of? What condition is this?

So, if your part of the 20%, we will be glad to have you,

No thanks. I'm going to be part of the 80%. Strength in numbers and I get the feeling the 20%ers are the retards.

Until the vetting process consists of more than, "Your dad was a great guy", the Dept is screwed.

I couldn't have said it better
