Police Shooting
- A Chicago police sergeant shot and wounded a gunman involved in a shootout in the South Side's Fernwood neighborhood Sunday night, authorities said.
As the sergeant responded to a domestic disturbance call in the 10000 block of South State Street about 8:30 p.m., he saw two people shooting toward each other, according to a preliminary statement from the Chicago Police Department.
One of the shooters turned toward the sergeant, prompting the sergeant to demand that the gunman drop his weapon, according to the statement. The gunman did not comply, and the sergeant fired, striking him in the foot, police said.
The gunman, whose age was not released, was taken to Roseland Community Hospital and expected to survive.
Sarge was probably elated with his new contract and couldn't wait to shoot someone. Nice job.

Lol.....no one trains, they only shoot during their yearly qualifications. We should have some great combat shooting training once a month. I know I know Ain't nobody got time for dat! Great job tho SGT...

No one can treat stress shooting, you can try but everyone reacts different under stress.
Ive seen big gung ho macho police do shit when the shooting starts and then I've seen guys that you would never expect to, step up and take care of business

Spoken like another academy instructor pro...maybe if you actually have shot at anything besides paper or spent some time on the street where you have seen a police related shooting, you would know that many times that first round is going to go low and/or short and then the bad guy gets a new zipper as you proceed to raise your gun...this is just how it works some of the time...and you can always quit shooting after that hit in the foot if the guy gives up or maybe you would want to put one in between his eyes and deal with the ramifications later. Moron. Great job Sarge, you did what needed to be done and came home and the bad guy went to jail.

Look guys...Shooting Center Mass is the Point.
The Foot isn't Center Mass.
That's "oops I damn near dropped the gun and it went off" or "I prematurely pulled the trigger as I jerked it out of my Holster and am damn lucky I didn't blow my own foot off."
I'm not saying Sgt should have pulled a Dirty Harry and put a .44 Automag round into the head from 25 feet. I'm saying the police Officer should have enough basic skill to hit the 7 or 8 Ring on the Torso.
Not saying Any Cop Anywhere wakes up and Wants to have to kill someone.
But the damn foot isn't even on a Torso Target.
And FYI...I'm not an Academy Instructor....
I am However better skilled at Handgun and Carbine and Rifle shooting than around 75% of the CPD thanks to being Raised in Michigan where I could actually Own and practice with Firearms for the past 30 years.

seriously? A CPD Sgt in a good shoot...and previous good shootings is being criticized ? Leave him alone he responds to more calls then all the fucking dogs on afternoons in 005...its sickening what's going on there..u know who I am, fuck 005...Ip address included!!!!!!
Hey guy on a bike. Im sure you are the wonder dog of shooting. However it would take you a full half hour to clean the shit out of your pants if you were in a do or die situation . But im sure being from Michigan you trained well cor that too.
Train or practice where? Ain't no ranges left close by.

1994 to 2001.... USN MMA E-5 and TAD to Adm E.T Olson for a part of the time.
The Point is if you have to Draw the Weapon..Fire it and make sure the target goes down with a Critical Hit to the Torso.
