Good thing they don't count the weekend all the way back to that 13 shot on Thursday - because this weekend doesn't need any help number-wise:
- Coleman was one of at least five people, including a 14-year-old boy, shot to death between Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. The spate of fatal shootings came hours after 13 people were shot in a South Side park, once again drawing international attention to gun violence in Chicago.
Darn those inanimate pieces of metal, running around shooting innocent people and folks.
Um...how about "gang violence?" Or "poor impoverished underclass violence?" Or is that too close to the truth for the supposed Fourth Estate, defenders of "truth" and other such bullshit?

We'll, five fatalities after going 0-13 on Thursday is definitely a slump-buster. Too bad that three year old had to be a statistic though.
Does anybody know what caliber gun was used when the 13 people where shot.
Chicago media seems quick to tell what kinds of guns are used when it gets the data. But they never seem to tell us who the gangs are when the story says violence is "gang related."
How many gangs you got there? How many account for the carnage? What are the names of these gangs?
If gun names can be reported, why not gang names too?
Or does political correctness forbid this - just like it forbids reporting the race of the victims or perps?
No one in the media wants to tell the truth. Black on black violence is the real issue.
Black males for some reason have a hard time at dealing with problems like a normal person.
And yes I am saying this behind a computer because if I said it to their faces they would freak out and use physical force like animals do.

That arson on the south side caused 2 deaths. The weekend toll so far is about 7 or 8 I believe. If someone wants to kill they will find a way.

Could've been worse but I hear ceasefire prevented over 200 more shootings. I also heard midnight basketball doubled that number.
Can someone please tell why this City has 13 people shot it makes the national news, and they only send 1 person to take care of the crime scene. You see things happen in other cities and they have whole forensics teams.
The "Community" response to all this is amazing, disgusting and funny in a twisted way. Consider Fr. Faker complaining about the lack of jobs. Does anyone think these Mopes are going to get up at 6 am, to get to a job at 7:30 am, then have to WORK for Chump Change and pay almost 40% of it in taxes when you add the various Chicago taxes? When you can have a fake disability for which you receive an income. Get up when you want, have a Link Card, Free Rent, Sling some dope to White Suburbanites, and occasionally score one of their bitches coming to the Hood to associate and cop dope with you. I know you are trying to make the city as safe as you can, but because of all of the killings, and robberies on the Mag Mile I refuse to come to the city any more. Please stay safe out there, and watch out for each other.

Generally the person who yells fire in a crowded theater is held responsible for his or her own actions. Politician want to punish all gun owners for the criminal who uses a gun. Huge difference.

Anyone else find it odd that the weapon used in the mass shooting hasn't been named? From the casings and slugs recovered we should have heard if it was an AR, AK, Thompson, Uzi, or whatever.
Could it have been a .22 rifle, or a semi-auto handgun, and that's why the info isn't released?
We wouldn't want to interfer with rahm and gary's war on "assault weapons."

A letter to the mayor and police superintendent. What is happening on the south and west side is not, I repeat, not, normal behavior. You are putting ALL of the citizens of Chicago in the same category. People do not shoot people on my block so please do not tell me I cannot have a weapon. at the very least, for protection. God knows we need it. Your taking all our money for resources in these areas now you want to take our rights also. Please at the very least, tell the truth.
I'm going to become a 016th District community activist and organizer. We have crime in our district now that we feel is unacceptable so the police need to increase their presence here.
We need to raise funds for all the social ills that come our way from the ghetto. That's going to take socialist money. We need to collect it and put it to good use here in OUR community.
Perhaps we can have community block parties at government expense too.

I really don't have an issue with it. Once you start broadcasting gang names, you start a contest. We're bigger and badder than (name that gang). It would be the equivalent of 'tagging', but using the media to do it. No thanks.

The reason only one person was sent from the Crime Lab is the city decided not to add anyone to the position when people retired. Now there are appx. 12 Investigators left to handle all the city on all the shifts. The city could give two shits if crime is solved. Several $150.000 trucks with nobody to man them.
