Suicide by Police?
- Police shot and seriously wounded a woman who they say pointed a gun toward them in a Pilsen alley.
A group of people called 911 after the woman aimed a gun at them in the 1000 block of West Cullerton Street about 10:30 p.m. Thursday, police said.
The woman had been walking with the gun when the group approached her. The woman continued north on Morgan Street and west into an alley between 19th Street and Cullerton Street, police said.
Plainclothes officers approached her in the alley and the woman pointed the gun toward them, police said. The officers fired at her, hitting her several times, police said.
Camden covers the obvious:
- Fraternal Order of Police spokesman Patrick Camden said the weapon was a BB gun and that she had ducked behind a garbage can before poking back up and pointing it toward the officers.
"Nobody's going to wait around to see if it's real or a toy," Camden said.

Police Impersonator(s) Officer Safety alert continued. Someone posted about a black dodge charger. Approx. 10 days ago I was driving on I 80 east from Lagrange Ave. Around 0010hrs. When a Black Dodge Charger (black tints front and back) with a police spot light on drivers side, regular IL plates, came behind my truck at a high rate. I moved out the way thinking it was the police going on a call. My police (6th sense) experience told me otherwise. Naturally I followed it keeping 1/2 mile distance because I was with my family. I followed it to I 57 where the vehicle got off on 159th headed east bound to the town of Markham, Harvey area. All officers in this area and Joliet area heads up. My family was never in danger so don't start with the BS. All officers know this is an extremely high risk traffic stop so heads the fuck up. I didn't call ISP because they got off too fast and they were gone.

Not kidding. You used to be able to go to Sears (or 'Morrie Majors') in Chi and buy real guns but not a Daisy Red Ryder BB gun, which couldn't break a beer bottle (this was way before old man Daley was 'May'r').

A BB gun is hardly a toy. Imagine getting hit in the eye; isn't that "great bodily harm" or permanent disfigurement? The point is well taken, not to wait around to see exactly what type of weapon it is, but I would not call it a toy.

Off topic but apparently a lot of SGTs have wished up and are getting out while 55& out is still free. Starting in 2014 55+ retires will have to pay 2% for health insurance. The FOP is going to lose this perk also. People need to plan for the future. Often you will do better retireing with free healthcare and a part time job than staying on this job. Consider your options and do what's best for you and yours.

Apparently Emanuel's starting to figure out we're not going any fucking where because of his bullshit pension threats or his petty taunts to try and piss off senior officers.
In the end, the pension will prevail with no diminished benefits, as it should. They don't want this in court because their lies will be exposed and made public for all to see.
So since Mr. Dipshit thinks all he has left is to do is rid himself of senior officers his goals in negotiation are to diminish protections for senior officers, thinking that will force them to quit.

It was Morrie Mages Sports, not Majors. They were bought out by Sportmart, which was bought out by Sports Authority. Morrie Mages has a playlot named after him on the Lakefront near Irving Park. Does anyone else remember Brown's Sporting Goods at Harlem/Irving, or Herman's Sporting Goods? There was a Herman's at Six Corners.

Not challenging what you wrote, just additional info that the County has some Chargers as you describe...as do the Feds. And who knows what IAD or the Confidential Unit has here??
Not saying it was them but other Agencies do have them. I know of a Chief in the suburbs that has one exactly as you've described.

All he's doing is repeating what the CITY is telling the media.
Two days ago, the Dept announced foot patrols on Clark and Broadway, claiming it's because of the outbursts up north when the Hawks won. NOT ONE WORD about the dramatic rise in street robberies in the last month.
If I was a reporter, I'd be asking why it would take the City THREE MONTHS to implement those foot patrols! (Answer: because it has nothing to do with the Hawks and everything to do with that blog in boystown that's publicly documenting all the rising crime and police radio calls.)

And when Rhode island took this drastic action, their pension funds were at a 49% level. This was considered catastrophic. Our fund is at 30%.
Hey Illinois legislators, no hurry, no need to rush, no pressing imperative to get it done. No, what is important is that you mopes get your paychecks so be sure to spend more public money suing the governor and forget about doing your job. Get paid! That is all that counts.
Sort of like the German Army grieving for their paychecks as the Russian Army is at the gates of Berlin in 1945.

If you are 55 and have the years for retirement ( you should), then do your health and your family a favor and retire. The job takes it toll on you both in physical and emotional health and it starts to show the damage in the mid to late 50's. The only people who like to hang around longer are the gold stars who are afraid they will be nobodies when they retire.
