This is Bold, but Crime is Down!
No word on the massive shortage of officers at Mass Transit, but hey, this has to be a coincidence:
- Two armed men robbed multiple passengers on an Orange Line CTA train heading into downtown Wednesday afternoon, police said.
The robbery happened at 4:13 p.m. as the train traveled between the Halsted and Roosevelt stations, said Veejay Zala, a Chicago Police spokesman.
Two armed suspects took various items from multiple riders, Zala said. No one was in custody.
According to a police source, one of the suspects pulled out a blue steel revolver. The other yelled at riders to give him their belongings, then began collecting items from riders and putting them in a black backpack, as the man with the revolver pointed the gun at the victims.
Evidently, these two rode the train for hours prior to the holdup. We certainly hope that when they are apprehended, Rahm sits them down and tells them that they must have missed the signs saying, "No Guns!" on the CTA.

As you know, those signs only apply to people who LEGALLY carry a concealed firearm.
Those that carry unlawfully can't even be charged with violating those signs.

Two comments: Fortunately the shortage of CTA officers can be made up by temporary use of CPD officers.
It is a good thing making the buses and trains gun free zones. By keeping guns off, there are no accidental discharges etc.

Bluing is the process that keeps the gun from rusting and then gives a unique color to the metal, called blued steel.
This shows the stupidity of depending on cameras. These guys were riding around before the robberies that we know about took place. So did they do an unreported one or two as well. Where was Special Employment? On bus routes adjacent to Boxes to secure the Hood? CTA like the lakefront lack police coverage, and when criminals realize that it will Really get ugly.
But the articles about this incident in both papers only talked about how the dept stressed that YTD crime is DOWN on the CTA and that it's still safe.
Where's the idiot on here saying that mass transit is going to get disbanded.

The only coverage that the Orange line receives is a fixed post at Midway. All Mass Transit Tact teams are assigned to 3 Red line fixed posts Friday - Sunday. The system is left wide open. You would need a couple of hundred more people assigned to the unit to even begin to cover the lines.
Mass transit officers are on fixed posts in the stations not riding the trains there's no crime on the trains. Hahaha another brilliant strategy by the deputy doomed !
Where's flaker,jackass rs and the rest of the phony community activists passing out flyers and demanding that parents , neighbors turn the animals in .
Where's the mass transit robbery tact team can't they solve this crime in the 4 hrs they work a day ?

Unless you know something nobody else knows, EVERYONE on the CTA are "fare paying riders".
Mass transit has a robbery team- a bait team - anti terrorist teams what do they work on? How to scam when the commander and Lt isn't around and who can work the least amount of hours in a day ...
One gun would have changed that crime in short order!
The CTA is a scary thing and many of our family member use it.
The police cannot watch every train and bus and these jackals count on that.
I'm travelling to Chicago next week. Supposed to take the L from Midway and stay in Streeterville. If this wasn't a necessary trip, I'd cancel the whole thing. It's a shame. Chicago's a beautiful city.
What we need are the "who are those guys" to come rocketing out of an adjacent car and chase them down ala Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid.
There will be others who do the same copy cat type of crime.
Wait till its some tourist coming in on the Blue line from Ohare. That will send the MSM screaming.
Maybe the PO's who work the trains in Mass Transit should be a little less concerned with locking up juveniles jumping between train cars. How many times has a job come out on the CTA trains and then squad says "No Mass Tranist units available."

I am certainly glad that our politicians decided to ban guns from the CTA. It makes every stick up man feel safe. Plus, not a cop in sight either on the trains or in the stations. But, no worries, the CTA says that there were only 483 crimes reported during the first 3 months of this year, to include only 83 robberies. Not much comfort for those 83 people who had the shit scared out of them. And, cameras are not a deterrent to crime as backed up by research and known by every cop. However, cameras do help to catch people. We need more police in general and more police on the CTA platforms and trains.
Worked CTA special many times. Only given fixed post on the red line stops for the last 18 months or so. No coverage on the orange line.
HEY, look. Those photos that have been released of these two goofs are pretty damn clear and their clothing is very distinguishable from most other ghetto rats.
If their own people don't provide information on these felons, then why should anyone else gets all bent out of shape over it. It's all about what the community finds acceptable.
After all, we wouldn't want to upset the natives by putting yet ANOTHER one of their offspring in prison, now would we?

It refers to the color. Most of the hand guns are either black or silver, sometimes with a blueish tinge to it (depending on which way the light hits it) and ranging from a medium to dark hue. I guess someone thought "blue steel" sounded way more ominous than dark silver...

If an arrest is made where an ANOV could be issued, the officer has to explain why he made the arrest. Everyone is on a fixed post with nobody riding the lines.
Good thing a legit person can't carry a gun on a cta train. The armed robbers must have not seen the "no gun " signs. Maybe we should get bigger signs now. Maybe these victims can sue the city. It's the city's fault that people with guns were on the train robbing people even though signs were posted

About the only thing that Jesse Jackson Sr. ever said that made sense was "Camera don't stop the pain, cameras only watch the pain." He should have gone on to say that the city should hire enough police and use fair non-racially biased recruiting.

Criminals are NEVER to be blamed for some odd reason. People Blame the police , parents, teachers, Obama , Bush, who ever. But never the criminal. I don't care what or how a victim did something, the criminal is the only one who did something wrong. If you want to use the argument of "it could and SHOULD have been prevented", then yeah, the police should have of course been there. That simply doesn't not change the fact that it happened though. The criminals were the only wrong-doers here
All of you who are tourists in Chicago or coming here on business...do not under any circumstances use public transportation. You rent a car with a GPS and use that to get around. Chicago is not a safe city.
I think most of you are missing the point of this robbery. These guys were willing to commit major felonies for essentially small amounts of money. What they took could not pay for a pair Air Jordans.
Instead, it demonstrates the capability to do anything. This "robbery" could've easily ended up as a series of rapes or a mass execution, given the logic behind the attack in the first place.
You better carry a gun on the train. You can waffle on whether shooting someone over a robbery is justifiable. But when they start executing people, well, you better have that gun.
