Crown Prince Arrives
Balcer says he wasn't "forced out," but we all know how the game is played:
- Four years after Mayor Richard M. Daley announced he wouldn't seek another term, the door has opened for his nephew to try for a Chicago City Council seat from the family's ancestral home in Bridgeport.
Patrick Daley Thompson made it known Tuesday that he's running for the 11th Ward seat now held by longtime Ald. James Balcer, who said he's retiring and insisted no one forced him aside to make way for a favorite son.
“I've been here 17 years,” Balcer said. “The rumor had been, ‘He's warming the seat.' The seat's on fire. I have been here that long. And as far as being forced out, never. ... This was a private decision I made with my wife and family, which was No. 1 to me, and health issues.”
He was told not to run, simple as that. Anyone who has been here any length of time knows the slating committee told him his services were no longer needed - they have their guy ready to run. Their guy was slated for the Water Department to get his feet wet and now the 11th Ward thinks he's ready.

On the same day that Balcer caved another long time crime family announced their preferred candidate for the 38th ward.
The Cullerton family has found a stooge to hold down that aldermanic seat until one of John Cullerton's kids is redeemed enough to assume the position.
Rather than support a long time crime family I shall support and vote for firefighter and current Alderman Nick Sposato for the post.
The powers that be want to get rid of Sposato because he is the only voice that police officers and firefighters have in the City Council to try to protect our pensions.
The Daley and Cullerton crime families have done very well why the average firefighter and police officers are begging for what they are due.

Balcer will get his city pension then he will go to work for the new helicopter tour company that he pushed through behind the backs of Bridgeport and Pilsen residents. The Democrats who brought you your clouted incompetent bosses now want Patrick Daley Thomson as their new aldercreature.
If you live in the 11th Ward vote for John Kozlar or Maureen Sullivan for alderman instead of Pat Daley Thompson. They both care about the community and have been working hard to better the residents lifestyle without doing underhanded deals and they are not beholding to the machine.

The nuns used to put him in in the last seat by a window so he could watch the trains pass by and not disturb the other students when he was in grade school. No record of him attending any local High Schools. He seemed to just disappear for 25 years only to emerge as the appointed replacement for the disgraced then alderman Patrick Huells. This guy has been clueless for the past 17 years but posed no threat to his political handlers. Hopefully he'll return to the East side or wherever he came from.

Alderman are given a fund to spend on various projects throughout the ward. Balcer is one of the only aldermen who's ward superintendent controls all the money. So that goes to show you that even the ward organization knows he's a mush.

Patrick D. Thompson tried to downplay his connections during his run for MWRD. He was making the rounds on the NW side and was well received here. People knew who he was before he hit the door without using the Daley name on his campaign material. He seems like a pretty nice guy.
Chicago just isn't Chicago without a Daley as Mayor.
The Daley name is dead. Anyone look around Bridgeport lately? It's trending Asian, younger, more educated, less city workers, and different. Richie Daley wasn't the only one that left!!! His nephew is no shoo-in and is using a different name anyway. If anyone else raises some money and works the residents, it is his to lose.

Brad Edwards, channel 2 news, if you want to call yourself a reporter, try to get the simplest of facts correct. Chicago police don't HAVE 'police issue' weapons. We purchase our own guns.

He gets a full aldermanic pension which is 80% of his alderman's pay. That is about $96,000 per year plus free health care. Balcer was an alderman before they the raised years of service for alderman to 20 years for full pension. Previously, 1 term qualified an alderman for a full 80% pension. Sweet. He will find himself a judge or sitting on some board next year.
David Orr was alderman in Rogers Park years ago. Then he was temporary Mayor when Harold died. He kept the seat warm for Eugene Sawyer and he got slated for Cook County Clerk as thanks for services rendered. Orr has qualified for getting full alderman's pension since 1987.

Do you think there is anyone in the 11th ward who doesn't know who Patrick DALEY Thompson is? That is the name he uses; Nora Daley Conroy now uses Nora Daley. If the Vaneckos had any sense they would also use Daley instead of Vanecko. If I could trace my lineage to that family I would be Dennis James Daley instead of the Polish name my father gave me. And it would be Sgt. or Lieutenant or Commander Daley.
Sort of like the British Royal family, all from the house of Windsor. Here we have the House of Daley.
