Lolapalooza Body Count
One of the teams downtown want to comment? Or the Ambulance crews?
- Not a peep from the media about the Lallapalooza chaos.... Robberies, agg bats, a rape, over 130 people PER DAY being taken to the hospital for over doesing on Molly, X, heroin, etc..
We've heard some odd stories, but not quite these numbers. Are the organizers sitting on the stats?

300,000 over three days. Who cares about the body count, we can only do so much, we are down at least 3500 PO's.
Chicago Hospitals Brace for Surge in Drug Cases during Lollapalooza
"Loyola Toxicologist Available to Explain Effects of Heroin, Ecstasy and More
"WHAT: Chicago emergency medical experts are preparing for an increase in anticipated substance-abuse cases this weekend due to the Lollapalooza festival. “Ecstasy as well as heroin use are on the rise in the Chicago area, and people coming from out of state will bring their preferred choice of recreational poison,” said Christina Hantsch, MD, FACEP, FACMT, toxicologist at Loyola University Health System. “Hallucinations, fast heart rate and increased blood pressure as well as nausea, seizures and vomiting are the result of drug overdoses, if you are lucky. For the unlucky, there’s death."
"Hantsch is the former medical director for Illinois Poison Control. “Summer music concerts are unfortunately also drug festivals for many and Chicago is a national leader in hosting many events,” said Hantsch, who is board certified in Emergency Medicine. “Pitchfork and many concerts have occurred in the past few months, accounting for a steep rise in overdoses. And with 40 more concerts this summer, Chicago is bracing for an even higher increase in drug-related medical emergencies."
"WHY: Last year’s Lollapalooza recorded 246 ambulance runs and most were for drug-related emergencies."
http://loyolamedicine.org/newswire/news/chicago-hospitals-brace-surge-drug-cases-during-lollapalooza
Worked 12 hours on the ambulance today.. Transported 12 to surrounding hospitals. More than half were underage. Etoh and drug abuse
I was there (on duty) and it's blown out of proportion. Yes there was a little of this and that and a lot of EMS calls, but what do you expect? For the most part the attendees were nice and respectful and gave the coppers high fives. Who gives a fuck if they overdose or drink until they throw up as long as the do it at the show and not on the street. Coppers tend to over exaggerate (esp if you wear jeans and a backwards hat to work and not a uniform.)
Why would they report crime - it's so down and the music brought in over 100 million dollars. But the victims will get the word out, word of mouth is the biggest form of advertising. Just stay tuned to the word on the street.
You have pretty good info, don't forget the police being totally outnumbered for this entire event. Very lucky none of us got hurt.
70 policemen to control 150,000 drunk, drugged out people.
Open cans and bottles.
What could go wrong?
If this was a rap event, or a special interest parade, chaos would have been a guarantee. NASCAR or concerts like this tend to be not too bad. I'll have to ask Al Sharpton why that is.
As long as an Emmanuel (Brother Ari) has his fingers (all 10) in this till (Lolapalooza)the media will never give an accurate account of the problems it brings.
I was there. I didn't see a single fight. I saw no one vomiting or passed out.
Not to mention $250,000 -$1,000,000 to fix the turf that was stampeded.
Where does that money come from?
All I can say is that the 1st Dist really helped out. Especially the wagon guys and the officers that helped with the processing. Someone downtown has blinders on.
Was there Not bad. We were outnumbered 1000 to 1. However when it a paid event the attendees seem to behave better, hello taste of Chicago
Blown way out of proportion. 95% of the people there were nice to the police. Yea a lot of them were smoking a little weed but who cares, its a music fest. Sure there were some people who couldn't handle their shit, but there were no agg batts, rapes, or robberies.

EXACTLY! I was there off duty and had no problems AT ALL! Sure there were some goofs passed out in the curb, but big deal…better than people getting their asses shot off during a certain parade! It was not bad at all, and the ambo runs were mostly done by private ambulances paid for by the promoters! Same for most of the security. Not really much to complain about with this one, folks…unless you wear a hoody to work and a backwards hat…might actually had to be at work for more than 6 hours!

How many police officers does it take to patrol 150,000 concert goers? 200,000, just in case?
In fact it was great…no shit heads inside Grant Park because it cost $100 to get in!!! No wildings…no robberies, no packs of mayhem just wandering aimlessly looking to F someone up. Maybe Rahm can kill 2 birds with 1 stone and start charging $100 to come downtown per day! Pay off the pension obligation AND drop the crime numbers!!! Hmmmmm I think I am on to something!!
Keep in mind that Rahm's brother has his hand DEEP into the Lollapalooza pool of profit and cash. Remember, the is crooked Chicago where cash is king!
So a few, here and there, die. They were going to die someday, anyway, right?
Everybody has a phone. Where's the video?
They don't tend to cause problems, they just become victims of overdose, robberies, etc... If they want to voluntarily do that oh well. Keeps all the opportunist away from goldcoast for the weekend.

Jeans and hats backwards is considered uniform of the day...
1:11:00 am, let me guess, you stood around with your thumb up your ass looking at all the scantily dressed underage girls. While those of us working ran from call to call and spent hours processing arrests. This thing is growing wayyy out of proportion. The media stayed holed up in their fishbowls until the madness eased then they came out making it look like flowers and sunshine. They didn't show the kids laying in the streets passed out or incoherent. They didn'treport on the batteries, robberies and just plain ignorance. shit like this does not belong in the central business district. Put it in one of our vast expanses of empty business parks or better yet, how about in one of the neighborhoods where the revs complain of a lack of economic development. Just think of the revenue the street corner entrepreneurs can generate for the community.
It's all about the $$$$.
I was there Friday.
I boxed the compass as it were hiking hiking from stage to stage to see as many performancases as possible.
I did see a couple of kids who had been over drinking and I saw one girl who was on a gurney and being taken to an ambulance.
Granted, I could not see what was going on everywhere, it seemed everyone was having a good time and staying out if trouble.
I was there from noon to 10pm.
It was very well attended.
I saw nothing like the shirtshow taped at Montrose Harbor in July.
It is true, if there was trouble, the CPD on detail there would have been way outnumbered. As I saw pairs of officers once in awhile, I thought, "If there is trouble, it's "Broken Arrow" for these poor guys and the rest of us behaving ourselves.
I just went one day. Evidently, Sat. & Sun. was really well attended.
I think you need to give the kids credit. Given the size of the event, the kids really behaved themselves.
I was at Summerfest to see Humble Pie in 1973 and witnessed the riot. Lollapalooza wasn't even close as far as O.D's and too drunk kids is concerned.
I was at Coachella in April and there were big crowds of kids there too and no trouble.
It's a credit too them all that such numbers can gather and not devolve in to chaos.
"Who gives a fuck if they overdose or drink until they throw up as long as the do it at the show and not on the street."
Always worked for Dan and Mike's FOP luncheons at the Admiral Theatre...
I've been there with family four times since it started in Chicago. There are obviously some underage folks who are whacked out drunk or high, but overall its about the safest mass event you could imagine. Never once saw a fight, a weapon, anyone who looked truly *dangerous* or anything like that.
That said, 246 ambulance runs last year averages 82 per day, with most for drugs (>41 of those 82 per day). That is higher than I would have guessed based on my experience by a factor of about 2 or 3.
An Enamuel Bros. Production.
The no violence - no drugs policy made this another Chicago Sucess Story. Even Divy padded their stats. GMac really should be commended on his outstanding effort, next up is Bud's Bilikin, The Air & Water Show and the beachfront Urban Shark Tank.
House mice already put in their time due slips, all others will be denied or cancelled.
Ok. I'm middle aged.
I detest youth music and mass youth concerts, rampant drug use.
It's been this way in the USA for, forever.
Middle aged Americans hate youth music, think youths are immoral, lazy, avoid honest work and responsibility.
I barely survived last night at Reggie's as the young people were playing some Asian bubble gum version of Rap Music now popular in....
South Africa!
Terrible, I would rather have preferred Chinese Communist water torture!
Of course the police were outnumbered. Did you expect to have 150, 000 cops there?
I didn't think that it was all that bad. Like others have said, everyone was drunk and high, but otherwise it was no big deal. Nowhere near as chaotic as the South Side parade or some of these downtown 4th's have been IMO. I will say that if it ever did hit the fan at this event, we're severely outnumbered.
"Last year’s Lollapalooza recorded 246 ambulance runs and most were for drug-related emergencies."

Let's see, at a thousand bucks a run, that works out to...
No more permits for these events unless the promoters "outsource" their own portable field hospital/detox to be brought in and set up at the venue.
Announcements booming over the PA system from the Hippie Medics. "Uh, like, man, don't take the blue-speckled acid that's going around? It's a real bummer?"
"By the time we got to Woodstock..."

I wish the Irish Parade was as quiet as Lolapalooza and generated the same money.
I was there Friday on the 3rd watch. Lots of intoxication and heard approximately 15 - 20 OD ambulance /medical calls. Crews would go to spot and take out subject, almost all young females, and take them for treatment or worse case sent to hospital by ambulance. Couple of fghts and the usual snatch of a couple of cell phone. Arrests were mainly for dealing or fighting.
Biggest cluster was Tac Teams across the city prepared for 1 sgt and 8 POs as the norm for VRE and all other details. THursday at 5ish order comes out calling for Sgt & 10POs. Scramble, scramble. Some teams arrived with as little as 6 POs. Districts had to send watch personel to fill the gaps.
In addition, one of the Obama girls and her Secret Service contingent was at the techno stage where most of the mollie was being sold. LMFAO.
All in all not a bad night especially at time and a half.
Office dollies on the street Monday -Thursday
Gotta have the weekend off ya understand
Office police areecial , not likethefoolsworking nights and weekends. We hot clout , many will be merit stumper visors in the future .
Media silence & non-reporting & non-describing Perps make them complicit in urban crime.
Sure is a good thing that eBOLA hasn't escaped out of Atlanta yet & headed towards Chicongo or them ER doc's would have their hands full: daily shooting vic's, daily beating & agg ass vic's, o/d vic's & on & on & on
Just A Citizen says:
WTF is wrong with the leaders of this hellhole? 70 Officers to control 150,000 stoned, drug, drugged out people holding glass bottles? Where is common sense these days? And why is it necessary to have these sorts of "woodstock-esque" gatherings anyway? You know, SCC, I read you every single day and I just shake my head in shock over what LE has to put up with day after day, year after year. It's bad enough you have to deal with animals pretending to be humans, but you have leadership that is so ass-backwards it's mind-boggling. Stay safe. Shoot to kill and retire as soon as possible and get the hell out of there.
No mention of the obama kids being there and the LARGE USSS contingent?
Unconfirmed rumor that Emanuel's kid had a wild ride on some bad dope Sat night...
the crim sex assault happened after sundown, perps formed a circle on the grass and took turns while no one else could see. savages.
Who cares? No police hurt! That's a great win for Cpd and since Cpd did such an excellent job dies that mean our pension will be funded with the 600 million rahm promised? Oh sorry he already will kick the can down the road! Or maybe a contract? Nope hey dean you still on your since you were elected vacation? The silence dean is deafening!
The local ER' made a killing with people that have legit insurance.
The city also will be billing out 500.00 a pop for a ride to the ER.
For once, mobs brought money into the city ! Look at the crowd, mostly North Shore kids that did not rob anyone.
They got a little high to get by !!
The usual hood rats tried to get in for free as usual. Jumping the fences and robbing the good kids of the corn.

WOW! Slow down charger! Your working a music fest This must be your first time on a detail! Apparently u don't know how to walk and enjoy the scenery without getting involved in bullshit! I sure would hate to have u on our team!

Or a Blackhawks championship celebration.
And this is suppose to be news. Lollapolooza has been like this for years. Next topic
ummmmm really?? I worked everyday of it. It was pretty tame.. actually very quiet. some ambulance runs but for the most part the trash stayed away, not much with fights etc. robberies?? Not anything more than normal downtown iphone snatching. seems like someone is trying to overdue what happened down here. pretty quiet people... dont believe the hype.
I heard the LolaFalana fest was a thumbs up event.
Seventies guy
"The city also will be billing out 500.00 a pop for a ride to the ER"
Sheeee-it! $500? Where you been? It's over $800!
I was there all 3 days, on furlough. I had a blast without drinking or dropping X. Yes, there were numerous young people in various states of impairment. Good thing NONE of the people acting like it is such a big deal EVER got drunk or high when they were 16...your hypocrisy knows no bounds.
And I hate to tell ya, but I'm quite sure more than a few of those kids were offspring of coppers. I know, I know; "not MY kids!"
Looking forward to Riot Fest next! You guys are bitching now, wait til you see the Slayer fans! heh heh
I'm sure it was fine. What do you expect?
WBBM Newsradio reported that there were 34 arrests, mostly for Ecstasy, Mollie, and cocaine. Also 300 ambulance runs to the emergency rooms.

FYI
The organizers of lollapolooza donated $100,000 to the police memorial fund the day before the event.
I miss the grilled cheese sandwiches & balloons filled with nitrous@ the Dead Concerts. I need a Miracle Man!

If it's the son, it wouldn't be the first time he's indulged in illegal substances. His habits are well known to Lab School students. And the CPD who drive his ass home.
OK, I've been out of the First Responder loop for a while since I retired.

WTF is "molly/mollie"?
Heres your totals...
http://www.dnainfo.com/chicago/20140804/downtown/lollapalooza-drug-busts-include-ecstacy-cocaine-pot-arrests
"Over the course of the three-day festival, 34 people were arrested and 137 others received citations by authorities, according to Melissa Stratton, a spokeswoman for the city's Office of Emergency Management and Communications. Another 303 people were transported to area hospitals during the festival, Stratton said."
Really, you kids don't remember the Grateful Dead concerts at Soldier Field And people running across Lake Shore Drive from the police.
Just like this, Nascar & the special interest parade in "March" you don't hear about things going bad cause it is downtown & brings in money!
That's the bottom line boy & girls. Stop with the race cards.
In the future, the concert organizers will probably be strong-armed to give hundreds of complimentary passes to 'churches' so that the 'needy kids' will have the opportunity to see their favorite rappers.
Lets see. The city charges each person who needs a ride in am ambulance around $900. And 300 people needed a ride to the ER? That's is a nice profit for the city.
And how about that idiot that jumped from the building on Columbus. After 3 days at the fest fueling up on booze and dope he takes a header from the building and not a peep about the truth. Nope, not Lolla related. His girlfriend was so bombed she could barely stand and talk to CPD and CFD to tell them what happened.
He’s clearly trying to bite through me’; Man hospitalized after Lollapalooza biting attack

For 2m anon, molly=MDMA=ecstasy. All the same thing.
This festival always gets out of control, one of my buddies had worked there the past few years and he's always transporting patients to and from the hospital all day, I hung out by the Perry's stage on Saturday for krewella for 1 hour in that time I saw 5 people getting carted from the crowd and one girl constantly vomited on herself while her boyfriend tried to clean it up

Quoted for truth.
CFD transported nobody inside the venue. Only CFD-EMS personel there was the medic bike teams and one Gator. All transports from inside the venue were made by private ambulance so no, the city wont charge, the private ambulance companies will.
303 calls for medical. How many private ambulances were there? How many CFD paramedics are moved from where they should be? They certainly are not going to be moved from the south and westsides. They can't all be on overtime. Anyone have these numbers. If we ever have a real emergency in this city during all these BS events, we will be screwed. Of course Obama's daughter has to go listen to rap music, and R. Kelly. This is what the the U.S. has come to. Everything is low class. A 16 year old should not be at a mini Woodstock. Our tax dollars pay for her security, while she advertises for Rahm's brother. Rant over.

Ah to be young again.
You will see how we get shafted on the damage to the grass that is part of the contract. The brothers Emanuel onloy care about their dollars and the sycophant media is all over making them look good. Like Levine, Spielman, Sneed, etc.

You little hobgoblins harbor a deep animus and malignance toward all who aren't you.
You demonstrate no care or concern for good, hard working people and you expend much energy prying their hard earned treasure out of their hands because it isn't in yours.
Nary a genuine civic/public service/humanist bone in your bodies.
Handlers, facilitators, advisers, idea men and other such who have a gift for being in the thick of conjuring money out of thin air.
Have any of you done any work in your lives that rquired you to actually sweat, endure discomfort or donate some skin to a hard surface both literally and figuratively?
