This past Monday, we mentioned that the evidence seemed to be mounting of a McJersey exit in the offing. Included among the "clues" was the complete lack of a CompStat meeting for a month during a stretch of shootings and homicides that boosted numbers across the board.
Guess what they had this past Thursday? A CompStat meeting! Area Central got their butts dragged through the wringer.
Can they do it two weeks in a row though?

Nobody cares anymore. The bosses are retiring in great numbers rather than go through all this bullshit every week. Having Sergeants as DSS is a failure of great magnitude. There is no respect given to the DSS and your XO is never around either. The budget cuts have taken their toll on this department and it will never be the same. Dozens upon dozens of cars down during overlapping shifts every single night in area central because there are just not enough vehicles to go around. Most of the time they down its during prime bang bang hours. Then of course there is the lack of blue shirts in the first place. What does the commander have to do with that ? That district has been short since shortly after the merger due to retirements, promotions and officers leaving to gun teams and other units. The city has just started to slowly fill those spots in last 6 months. Overall, the commander is a good guy who cares about his people. I work midnights and routinely see him showing up on jobs to help guys out, and acknowledges good work. I like the guy.
Those helo guys like to do a lot of fly bys. It's what they are really good at.
012 is screwed up because a majority of the Sergeants are assholes and play favorites all the time. Most of the Blue Shirts got enough time to bid out to a Northside District closer to home.

She's there because she fit the demographics. The Mayor had to fill the right voting categories. Look at the Command Staff. It is a statistical anomaly. Some of these members are a complete mess but the political bean counters are happy. It keeps them in power and in office.
For those of you crying about the cars, it comes down to one cold hard fact: THE NINE HOUR DAY IS A COMPLETE MESS. There are twenty four hours in a day. That is a fact of nature Jody Weis couldn't change, but he put us on nine hour days because he wanted to buy our love. What an idiot! The shifts overlap by too much time and there isn't enough equipment (cars, Tasers, etc.) to cover it. The end result is hundreds of [police officers sitting on their hands waiting to go out of the station, or going home early because they gave their car up. The citizens are paying for officers they don't get because of bad management.

When we ole heads were coming up, and all on 3rd watch, (late 90s) shit was tight, white shirts weren't out to screw us, and everybody had everybody's back. That is something that any police officer might have observed.But the real perks are 1 hour workdays and free days off. Those are the perks at the academy and at HQ. Another perk is pretending to do work and everybody else just believing that we are working. The stuff that instructors get by the recruits and veteran police officers is hilarious, meaningless power points. Do not hate the player; hate the game.

I agree that 012 district needs structure. I'm sure every watch needs to do a thorough checklist of how it can be properly functioned. For example, why does 3rd Watch have 5 desk officers? From what I understand the desk personnel draw cards to see who gets to go home early. Spread the wealth to the beat officers. We don't get play why should someone who answers phones and shuffles paper gets to. This is ridiculous! No wonder numbers are down. Good luck to 012

Nobody takes them seriously...don't need them.
FOP isn't telling the whole truth with the contract.
They are selling the helicopter pilot pay as a win, while hiding the fact that they lost 4 d2 positions at the same time (dept. armorer).
What else is left out of their highlights? As insignificant as that position is, it's still something that they should have included in there. Something stinks.

The second comment is correct. Tiny Dancer has made it clear that he likes Staples. McDontletthedoorhityourass therefore sticks it to her every chance he gets.
Reiterate what another poster said: any problems in 012 are issues with the Sgt's plus the sector policing BS. A few are on thin nice right now and the cracks are getting bigger.
I always thought Cmdr of 12 did a great job in specialized units. Is it trying to run patrol that has changed her? Although in specialized units or detective division one has more independence and control over their own unit, as opposed to patrol which has much more political input one is forced to swallow. Just curious.

Why? Because I pay a lot of money taxes in this City and I haven't seen a beat car in my neighborhood in five months. I actually had a neighbor ask me when we started driving SUVs the other day. He went downtown for the first time in years.
To previous comment of working with commander in 012. I'm sure the poster meant she's not sharp with making decisions. Before the merge Frank Gross was assigned to 013. He wasn't a sharp guy but he was smart enough to heed advice to get rid of nonsense do nothing positions and putting po's on the street. It wasn't about anyone being jealous that they don't have a desk spot it was about if the city is crying we are short of manpower it's because we probably don't! All districts should clear out the hideaways. Maria Pena in 010 cleaned out her house and got rid of positions. Disgruntled po's but at least there's more police on the street.
The mayor pledged if he is re-elected than McCarthy will be with him.

That wasn't a cop, complaining he had no ride. That was a cop saying they haven't seen a beat car in the neighborhood, patrolling the streets, in five months. How should he 'make it work, kid'? Pay attention to the details, office.
Main issues in 12 bad supervisors. Out for themselves. Each one trying to get away with more then each other. To many house mouses making up there own schedules. Intelligence officer working when she wants no time on job in fact she never had a bad day on this job with all the different spots she had. Cross guard supervisor coming in late leaving early everyday. Sgts coming in when they please. But expect everyone else to follow order. Desk crews all 7 of them leaving after 3 hours. Foot posts weekends off coming and going as they see fit. And then beat cars sitting on jobs not clearing others getting those jobs. People on mids crying bout being on late cars. When I got on u never went to capt office. Its like everyone lost respect. And the merger just forget bout it

No, I actually work at HQ and you are an idiot. Let us look at your logic here. According to you, we go for coffee 3 hours a day. We leave 2 hours early and do nothing all day. So, in an effort to protect our spots, we tell everyone on a public forum that we are dicking around all day. We are blowing our own covers. Nice try asshat. As for your claim that you have friends in the academy, you are clearly delusional. You obviously do not have any friends at all. Don't spill any milk on your basement computer.

It is the same person trying to bait people. His logic makes no sense. The guy needs help and he has no friends. Supervisors are responsible for ensuring that people come in on time and leave on time. No one is getting any breaks anywhere. People in units are putting in as much time as the people in patrol. It is just a different type of work. Do not believe that people get free days off when they work in units. It does not happen. Supervisors never hold on to slips in case something happens when the officers leave early or get a free day off. The supervisors always turn the slips in.
