Alstory Simon Released

So at the moment, no one is in custody for a particularly brutal double homicide in 1982. And the media spins this how?
  • A judge ordered the release of Alstory Simon, whose confession to a 1982 double homicide helped free an inmate from death row in 1999.

    Simon has been in prison for 15 years for the double murder, the same case in which Anthony Porter was convicted and later freed.

    State's Attorney Anita Alvarez has now concluded that Simon's confession was a false one, and he will now be freed from a downstate prison.
Curiously missing from this and other coverage?
  • disgraced Northwestern journalism "professor" David Protess who refused comment;
  • former ASA Dick Devine who punted rather than stand up for a conviction that was right on;
  • convicted governor George Ryan who used the Porter "exoneration" to discontinue the death penalty;
  • Tribune "reporter" and Protess stooge Eric Zorn who spearheaded the release of a double murderer and the railroading of an innocent borderline moron.
Why is it that police are the only ones held accountable for a system that lies in ruins thanks to years of neglect, cronyism, corruption and outright criminal enterprising via the Machine and its democratic masters?

The bigger question will be who pays out for the lawsuit? Will Alstory blame Burge, CPD, or Alvarez?

I just read a media piece today boasting how the cook co. jail population is down.

I suppose that is to infer that crime is down and Garry's Broken Window crime fighting strategies are working.

Not buying it.

"During a press conference Thursday, Alvarez said that Simon was victimized by former Northwestern journalism professor David Protess and private investigator Paul Ciolino, who hired an actor to pose as a supposed eyewitness to the murders."

"This investigation by David Protess and his team involved a series of alarming tactics that were not only coercive and absolutely unacceptable by law enforcement standards, they were potentially in violation of Mr. Simon's constitutionally-protected rights," Alvarez said.

"It is my opinion that the killer is Anthony Porter," said Terry Ekl, Simon's attorney.

I respectfully suggest that everyone read the book, 'Crooked City' authored by our brother, Chicago police Officer Martin Prieb to get the full information and impact of the Alstory Simon release as well as the big hoax... 'The Innocence Project."
Great investigative and journalism job by our brother in blue, Marty.

The Innocence Project is entrenched in the law and criminology schools and also the theology and humanities schools, not to mention journalism. A vast army of subsidized activists. Now evangelical groups -- national conservative ones -- are getting into bed with the Project. It gives then a pass on their other less liberal views. Right on Crime, Newt Gingrich, Grover Norquist, powerful conservative publisher Conrad Black, radio host and otherwise intelligent writer Mark Steyn, and the growing numbers of libertarian national figures -- AFP, the Kochs, Freedomworks, CATO, Reason and citizen activist groups working with libertarians, especially the Paulites and Alex Jones followers (of course) are turning viciously on the police -- scapegoating you is a growing political problem with surprising allies, and the Innocence Project is the gateway drug for many of these political actors -- and they have begun actively exploiting that. I don't know any solution but to confront the sane among these new Innocence Project converts where they write and challenge them to understand the reality of your jobs and what you deal with. But it's getting worse. I've heard otherwise sanely conservatives froth at the mouth at the mere mention of police. This wasn't true two years ago, and it's a national phenomenon. I don't know why you bother to protect anyone.

That doesn't give Protess , The Tribune, that horrible Eric Zorn or Northworstern sorry Northwestern a pass. They should be held civilly and criminally accountable.

I bet those crusading social justice attorneys at Loevy and Loevy or The Peoples. Law Office don't touch this. What say you?

The so called Innocence Project was a product of the likes of Flint Taylor and Jon Loevy, which led to many guilty parties receiving massive payouts from the City of Chicago to those who should be locked up in the prisons of the State of Illinois.

Have Taylor and Loevy ever indicated that their clients are guilty and have they ever identified the true offenders of the crimes that their clients claim they did not commit?

Of course not!

I know retired dics that knew and were able to prove Porter did it, they are furious over the impugning of their reputations.

Porter is still the bust out POS he always was---he's seen around 007 constantly, drinking out of bottles in brown paper bags.

David Protess needs to face criminal charges over his actions

That stupid idiot Eric Zorn is the true imbecile. He wrote a column yesterday proclaiming Alstory Simon guilty. Like he knows about criminal law.
simon is guilty because Zorn says he is and Anthony Porter is innocent because he claims he was yelled at. What a complete nincompoop Eric Zorn is. My God, what a fool.

I'm a dinosaur who still reads the print edition of the news from first to last page and also a word usage geek.

Moron Zorn has written only one worthwhile column in his life and it was about the decline of proper usage of the word "decimate'. And yes, I understand that language evolves.

Unfortunately, he probably lifted his one good column from the works of Sydney J. Harris, awonderful columnist whose column ran in the now defunct Chicago Daily News and also that rag called the Slum Times.

His best column was basically, plagiarism.

It gauls me that he and Mary Schmich are friends because as a whole, I enjoy and respect her column though I may disagree with her politics at times. It has always bugged me that she is friends with that slimy moron Zorn.

Old timer rant out!

Zorn, Mills, Conroy and other Chicago journalists heavily advocated for the "Innocence Project" throughout the 1990's, painting a picture to the public that the cops were corrupt and evil in Chicago, especially against black people.

Bowman, Loevy(x2), Futterman, and many law students and professors at Northwestern University fed theses journalists incredibly large amounts of post trial bullshit, all of it I'll add, was guised under an ideology of social disparity for the guilty.

They tried to frame it in a picture of racism, but too many of the cops simply weren't - so every now and then they threw in the race card if it worked in their narratives.

The Department, city government, and most folks, I believe, ignored their nonsense and looked at these cases as liberal hysteria; which obviously it is and always has been.

But they pressed on, and won.

They only won once the settlements became huge (there is talk that many of the attorneys were kicking back the cash) and it became a new industry for lawyers and then the media.

Preib's book indirectly lays out their system, and you can apply his theory to almost every single "wrongful conviction" case;
apply it to the "Central Park 5" case and you'll see it clear as day.

I'll add that these cases are "lobbied" to appellate judges for years on end, they also pressured witnesses to recant and jurors to change their minds after the judgment, it's part of the "innocence Projects" strategies.

Most of them aren't innocent, any cop knows that, their just found not guilty due to technicalities, the media and Northwestern University knows that too.

In the end, it took a quirky patrolman with a fierce yearning for the truth to make this come out, and to stop the constant bullshit against the police.

Thank you officer Preib.

By the way, Zorn is censoring his comment section on the Alstory Simon case. See how he works it work Chicago?

So the Chicago Police Department had the right man for the double homicide in the first place.

Didn't Porter get a HUGE amount of money for a wrongful conviction lawsuit thanks to Lovey-X2 or some other scum lawyers/ Does he now have money?

Now it seems that the preponderance is that he is really guilty. Now even if Porter can't be tried again criminally I wonder if there is any new legal ground that could be broken by the families of the victims (probably also gangbangers) to sue for wrongful death.

I'd love to see those "Innocence Project" people dragged into court to be held accountable.

Ha-ha-ha. The lying 'professor' Portess ain't getting off too easy. While not exactly the 'msm' some alternative news outlets (aka the New Media) are writing on the release of Alstory Simon, like the *Chicago Daily Observer* that I happened to come across. It has Three Headline Articles: .......

---- 1) Dennis Byrne: Northwestern University’s ‘Innocence Project’ Railroaded An Innocent Man
'At least that’s the conclusion that can be reached after Cook County Presiding Criminal Court Judge Paul Biebel, at the request of State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez, ordered Alstory Simon released from prison.' (read more)

---- 2) Bill Crawford Kicks Northwestern’s A$$ Right Up Through The Openings in Both Ears
'From the May 5, 2011 Chicago Reader William Crawford, a retired Tribune investigative reporter. Crawford tells me he heard about the case, asked Sotos if he could look through the files, and wound up spending three months compiling a hundred-page narrative he calls “Chimera.” ' (read more)

---- 3) Innocent Man Railroaded by “Innocence Project” is Freed
'Re-writing a key chapter in Illinois’ death penalty history, Cook County prosecutors Thursday threw out the murder and manslaughter convictions of Alstory Simon, whose videotaped confession unraveled one of the state’s most pivotal wrongful convictions, sparking reform and ultimately the end of capital punishment in Illinois.' (read more)

If we had a 'real' U.S. Attorney General instead of that race-bating felon Eric Holder, the DOJ would be all over this travesty but that ain't gonna happen; Since the criminals are white liberals and the victim black, it doesn't fit the 'progressive'(Marxist) narrative.

Isn't there a grand jury that could be convened to bring the Innocence Project, the peoples law office and complicit news media columnists into focus like they did when they determined Burge lied. Okay, so all this occurred beyond the statute of limitations, but I think a dertermination that these proponents of the freed criminals being innocent, the actions of the the Innocence project investigators and everyone else should explain themselves and then face the same consequences that Burge faced. Seems fair to me.
