Gun Laws Impact Poor...and Minorities
You'll never see this reported by a local outlet - you have to go to Washington DC:
- Within Cook County, the top five concealed carry ZIP codes per capita are all predominately white, middle class and are in areas that have low crime rates. However, the most violent neighborhoods within the county — all of which are on the South Side of Chicago — are predominately black, where residents earn less than $48,000 annually and hold the fewest concealed carry licenses as a percentage of the population.
If the same data trends occurred in banking and insurance, there might be outcries of “redlining,” denying a group of people access to goods or services because of the color of their skin or income levels. But there’s little public concern expressed so far about the possibility that poor blacks are being disenfranchised from the right to carry a concealed weapon.
“You really need to ask whether or not politicians are consciously trying to disarm certain groups of people,” said Dr. John Lott, a Second Amendment expert and president of the Crime Prevention Research Center. “Why do they want a law that primarily disarms blacks and gives guns to only well-to-do whites? Don’t they think it should be equal for everyone to protect their lives?”
Illinois residents say the disproportionate statistics all boil down to cost. Of right-to-carry states, Illinois has the highest registration and training fee, costing an applicant about $650 on average for fingerprinting, taxes and logistics — excluding the price of the gun.
Those who most reliably vote for democrats are those most disadvantaged by democrat policies.

One: most democrats don't want to carry and don't believe in private ownership of guns or CC.
Two: go to Chicago's bad areas, and tell me that minorities and poor are having a problem getting guns. If they were there would not be so many shootings.
First paragraph is Just making an assumption-
There was a story not to long ago on the tribune site (had to be a member to read the full thing) where a black guy (and others, don't know their nationalities or races) couldn't get a CCW permit in IL with no explanation at all. The kicker is he was/is a military guy who also holds a permit with the he state of Ohio I believe.
Imagine all the armed robberies that happen on the south side a day that aren't reported to police, are under reported, and aren't blogged about daily like wrigleyville robberies for instance. If more law abiding citizens out south were legal concealed gun holders shit would really be the Wild West - all points going to the "good guys" of course. Black neighborhoods with some of the worst problems also tend to have the most middle class black residents also, who I'm sure would like to protect their hard earned valuables just the same. Those neighborhoods being, roseland, South Shore, Morgan Park, (Austin, but that's west side), and I believe one more.
People NEED to understand that democrats only want to keep you dependent on them! But in the same breath, how can democrats expect one to depend on them in situations like this when Democrats have failed citizens by failing CPD!? Speaking of democrats wanting dependent sheeple, Between 2010-2014 Illinois food stamp enrollment has OUTPACED job creation 2 to 1! You may have made posts about the bad stuff we're #1 in, but now we're dead last in the Midwest for something, and it ain't good.

This post nails it. What is also not talked about is that a great number of crime victims, especially violent crime victims, are black. Why so much for licensing? How about a sliding scale fee, and also maybe good but lower priced guns?
They criminalize otherwise law abiding citizens, the poor black people and poor hispanics with this law and policy.
So like high speed internet, cell phones, housing, health insurance, and food, maybe gun makers and Democrats should be partnering together and GIVING away guns to low income citizens. LOL

What neighborhoods usually follow the letter of the law?
Drive with a license, drive with insurance, register a car, pay for license plates, get a dog license, own a conceal carry, etc.... Versus the opposite, this could also explain it.

I'm pro-2nd Amendment, but this particular analysis is just stupid. The last word I would use to describe black neighborhoods is disarmed. The residents of those neighborhoods may have fewer CCW permits, but they sure as fuck have more guns.
The law was made so that poor people cannot afford to get a permit. 16 hours of training, finger-printing and permit fees cost more than a decent used handgun.
But the wonderful, kind caring Democrats are just trying to keep guns out of the hands of "those people." Even though the people that want permits are the law abiding citizens stuck in Shit-cago. Give guns to law abiding blacks and they might chase the criminals out of their neighborhoods and up the north shore.
Last century, the Democrats used white hoods and burning crosses. Now they use onerous fees, requirements, and taxes to accomplish the same goals.

Correcting the article, the very worst zip code (60624) for both per capita violent crime and lowest gun registration is on the WEST SIDE--Garfield Park (11th Dist.). The four other zip codes (including the 7th Dist.) adjoin each other on the South Side.
To the other extreme, the only highest armed within the city limits is 60655--Mount Greenwood. The other four are in Cook Co. suburbs.

I can see it coming. Racial profiling preventing blacks from getting their fair share of concealed carry permits. Using a twisted logic similar to CC Prez Prenkwinkle's claim that the criminal justice system is flawed because there aren't an equal number of whites incarcerated as blacks, a Federal lawsuit will force the government to give poor black folks... wait for this... Pistols, bullets, training and concealed carry permits!

Disarming black folks? Sorry, try listening to the zone in 011. With the number of shots fired and man with a gun calls the only reasonable conclusion is that they are very well armed. With all the shootings and armed robbery victims, that conclusion is supported by empirical evidence. So this argument is moot.

How many people have been arrested for illegally carrying a concealed weapon who actually possess a FOID? Do you think most of them care about any laws.
Those gathering stats can count the number of CC permits issued, but they don't have a clue on how many people in any given community are actually carrying weapons. I would venture a guess that there are probably more guns being carried in some less privileged communities than there are in communities where people actually apply for and have been issued a permit to carry concealed a fireamr.

The worst zip code is 60624 bounded by Roosevelt Rd., Chicago Ave., Kedzie Ave. and the RR tracks at 4600 West (Kenton Ave.) with the geographical center being near Madison St. and Pulaski Rd. on the WEST SIDE.
All Garfield Park zip 60624 is within the borders of the 11th District.
Not a cop and I know its a Police Officer's job to uphold the law, but there's gotta be cops out there who see the Constitution as the supreme law of the land. Fuck carry permits its an infringement plain and simple. Criminals already have equal if not better firepower, let the good( I wont say law abiding because its my duty to ignore an unconstitutional law) citizens fight back without having to pay the machine's extortion fees.

Gun control - keeping honest people from legally owning a firearm - is another way of maintaining a permanent underclass that is completely dependent on the government, and therefor consistent in voting Democrat. 1. I'm not black, but I like to consider myself pretty "hip" to urban fashion(my son would be so embarrassed to hear me say that, by the way) but FuBu? This isn't 2001.
2. The majority of people who have big shiny rims, new nike shoes all the time and expensive clothes are usually the ones you arrest for what reason exactly in these areas? Oooh! Exactly!
Those types of people can't get a permit anyway and not because of CCW permit costs. It's the people who need it, but can't get it, because they'll be shelling almost a months worth of rent for everything required.

Funny how the area with the lowest number of legal gun owners has the highest number of gun violence. Just goes to show you a criminal will always live like a criminal no matter what laws are passed. Check out the Wyoming, Montana, Idaho etc. etc. where nearly the entire state carries guns legally. Almost no violence there.

Why would they want to 'celebrate' that? Empirical evidence, as well as casual daily observation, strongly suggest that violence and diversity, in a certain form, are inextricably connected.

Retired guys get a cc permit after going to a qualified range and pay $100.00 a year, every year. That is the thanks we get for doing the job right for 30 plus years. Total bull shit.

Retired guy here. None of what you bitch about is fair.
First of all, be thankful that we, retired LEO's, have the CC at all.
Little King Richie and his minions like Durbin, Schumer, etc, did everything in their powers to block it. From tying it up in various committees to arguing over minor points to block it at the national level.
He also tried to block it at the Illinois State level. All the Cook County reps fought it tooth, hook and nail. It was the down-state republicans that got it moved forward.
Chicago Police Department does nothing to assist retirees. Before the Fed bill went into effect the CPD stopped issued qualification certificates that use could use for you first retired year. Nor will the City allow its ranges to be used for requal.
The reason for the $100/year vs the $150/3yr for the civilian CCW is that the civilian is court ordered and gets some state funding. The IROCC does not a get a dime from the State. It has to cover all its expenses on the fee.
Other states accomodate their retired LEO's but extend no help to out of state retirees. Wisconsin? If you ain't a retired Fed or Wisconsin copper, there is no provision for you. Most states do accommodate out of staters.
And the IROCC is less restrictive and more reciprocal than Illinois' is now.

Last month, I visited 'Support Officer Wilson' via Facebook.
There was a debate regarding slavery. Blacks do not believe slavery existed in Africa. Blacks who 'owned' other blacks as slaves.
I advised researching, but apparently, most dislike reading, instead argued the issue.
