Dart Getting Smacked Again
- One of the nation’s largest local unions is berating Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart in a full page ad in the Chicago Sun Times on Sunday.
WBBM [...] reports Teamsters Local 700 is accusing Dart of providing more protection and care toward inmates and leaving officers in the lurch.
The ad alleges that when an officer does something wrong, it becomes a news headline, but when an inmate attacks an officer, it is underreported.
Not surprising. Most people (and folks) in jail don't have anything to lose, so attacking a guard has no downside. Conversely, and perversely, claiming abuse by the guards leads to payouts. Win-win from the offender's view.

CBS pulls Dart's response to Teamsters Sun-Times ad due to false statements.
Teamsters posted ad in paper today lambasting Dart for covering up numerous inmate assaults on officers due to short staffing. Source says Teamsters ran critical ad after Dart started throwing pizza parties for inmates in the last month. Even inmates recently accused of aggravated battery on correctional officers were rewarded with pizza and candy bars according to the Teamsters. Dart's spokesman Cara Smith put out a false statement claiming the staffing has gone up over 800 officers since Dart took office. This statement was a bold face lie and was quickly removed from CBS Chicago. Dart has added over 70 political exempt positions since taking office in 2006. He has 244 political positions on his payroll costing tax payers over 23 million a year.

A clever strategy. Dart doesn't even have to use internal discipline procedures; he can let the media do the dirty work for him, and you know they're more than willing to do that.

A kid at IYC-CHICAGO last week used his property box to bust the glass in his door and then tossed it up in the air and busted the sprinkler causing a huge amount of damage. They had to close the pod, and it's still closed a wek later, and it damaged two of the classrooms in the school. Of course under the new DJJ nothing happened to him.
If Rauner dumps DJJ and puts it back under DOC you will have atlas one group of state employees that will thank him.
It's not only Dart that's at issue there. 700 is a TERRIBLE local, they've kept too many of the crooks that weren't arrested from the former 726. They're looking for brownie points from a disgruntled membership.

Dart is and has been a 19th Ward Democrat political hack his entire life. He sees all issues as political first and only then operational. The little ego-maniac still imagines that he will someday be Mayor.
I've been with the Sheriff Dept. for the past 20 yrs. It amazes me how this administration has grown from three Directors to 58 Directors just at the jail. Just to show how much this sheriff has pitted us against the wall. We had a incident were a Inmate was choking and beating a officer. Another officer responded at which time the inmate started choking her then started beating that officer. The first officer started hitting the inmate with the radio. This administration now wants to have the inmate press Criminal charges against both officers. Here's another incident. A Inmate was locked up for Agg. Battery. Since being locked up he has assaulted inmates and staff. Director Cara Smith has a lawyer friend who is representing this inmate call her and she gets the inmate placed on Electronic Monitoring. When a Officer request that the inmate be charged with Assault. The Director tells the Officer the inmate has Mental issues and only could get better care on the outside. The inmate lasted 1 week on Electronic Monitoring before he Assaulted someone else.
Last week when I voted, no one was running against Dart. I would have voted for anyone other than Dart.

Here is another Dart lawsuit about to cost taxpayers. Plaintiff is high ranking Chief who was launched after he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Sick fuck Dart fired him in clear violation of ADA. Just last year county had to pay 1 million to war vet Dart fired for serving his country.

As payback Madigan hired Cara Smith to 6 figure post. Then she went to work for Dart. Just another unqualified Madigan political hack. She is a good liar though. She can say that their is NO morale problem caused by Dart with a straight face.
