Honeymoon Over Already?

Based on the "transition team," Rauner is very in-touch with his "inner Combine:"
  • Governor-elect Bruce Rauner added some familiar faces to his transition committee.

Speaking publically to the media for the first time since his Election Night win, Rauner on Thursday revealed the committee's full team, which includes former White House Chief of Staff Bill Daley, former Governor Jim Edgar, Rev. James Meeks, former Congressman Glenn Poshard, Congressman Aaron Schock and Pastor Corey Brooks.
Bill Daley? "Rev" Meeks? And the full list covers an entire rainbow of ethnicities, special interests and has-beens....like Ron Huberman - a police officer for ten minutes before being promoted to Assistant Deputy Superintendent, head of OEMC, Daley's Chief of Staff, President of the CTA and head of Chicago Public Schools - without leaving a notable achievement or positive memory behind.

Illinois is dead as a door nail. Rauner is a fake...all his life he bought his way in...never led a staff or a company. Bill Daley of all people on his team...just what folks voted against...

Huberman = Snitch for the Pritzkers et al.?

Gotta keep tabs on Rauner to keep him from going rogue and hurting people with ties to the North Shore.

Bill Daley = Snitch for Daley Inc. Keeping tabs on Rauner to keep him from going rogue and hurting the people and folks from the "old guard" section of the Chicago Rolodex of Evil...

Meeks = The "Plantation Politics" overseers trying to keep their spots at the feeding trough no matter how the new regime shakes out...

And in the latest news, m/fers on the West and South sides will still be worshipping death and performing the usual public ritual sacrifices on each other that the rest of every key else has come to expect from them over the last 40+ years...

"Honeymoon Over Already?" -- SCC

There never was even the prospect of a honeymoon; the whole Rolodex Of Evil spins, and the same cards keep flipping up.

Rahm and Rauner Are Vacation Buddies in Montana — Fly Fishing, Anyone?

Published Oct. 2, 2013, at 2:30 p.m.

"Montana. Big sky country. Beautiful. Hey, isn’t Rahm staying at Bruce Rauner’s place around here somewhere?

"It’s Rauner, after all, who advised Rahm in the late ’90s to make his fortune as an investment banker and who hired him to represent GTCR in the purchase of a home-security company from SBC Communications. Proceeds from that deal, among others, put the Clinton operative, who had no prior business experience or education, on the fast track to earning $18 million in under 3 years. Fortune in place, Rahm sprinted down the road to elective office.

"...when I asked Rauner about his Montana spread, he was obviously not going to share any of its charms. Rauner doesn’t mention Montana on his website, any more than he mentions his house in Winnetka or the penthouse at 340 E. Randolph Street, overlooking Millennium Park.

"It was Tom Brokaw...who revealed on-air that Rahm has taken up fly-fishing. [He told] a “personal” story about Rahm, and chuckled at the utter incongruity of our hyperkinetic mayor partaking of a sport that requires “patience, rhythm, and solitude.” Brokaw described Rahm as “thrashing” at the water and swearing at the trout. “Trout have never heard [such] language as they have from Rahm if they don’t cooperate with him.”

"Rauner’s main base — other wealthy people — [helped] him flood the state with ads, but even a new Carhartt coat and old van have not made a mean boss into an endearing buddy.

"Two of his role models are former Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels and current Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, both of whom started out by trying — with considerable success — to destroy public employee unions. Rauner has made it clear he wants to take on the public employee unions in Illinois...

"Run the state like a business?

"[Rauner's] GCTR had also assembled a chain of nursing homes, Trans Healthcare, Inc., for which Rauner had been making decisions four years after it was founded, the Chicago Tribune discovered — not the one year that Rauner claimed he had been involved. During those years, the nursing homes were sued and charged over $1 billion for at least six wrongful deaths. At the same time, investors, including GTCR, created a financial shell for all of the chain liabilities that was turned over to one of the residents of the nursing homes, thus protecting the assets of the investors.

"Then there was yet another disquieting twist in the final weeks of the campaign. The Chicago Sun-Times, recently purchased by a group of investors including Rauner and still owned by many of his friends, pulled Dave McKinney, the paper’s long-time statehouse political reporter, off his reporting on the nursing home story and all politics on the grounds of questionable appearances because his wife works as a political consultant.

"Independent political reporter Rich Miller denounced Rauner’s intervention, the Sun-Times’ quashing of its own reporter’s solid work, and the Sun-Times’ unrevealed conflicts of interest in suddenly abandoning its relatively new policy of not making endorsements for a special exception — an editorial endorsing Rauner."

"...two years ago, in preparation for his run for Illinois governor, Rauner began making large donations to national Republican and conservative groups. Illinois Tea Party organizations looked past his sordid political history and his socially liberal positions and endorsed him in the GOP primary anyway, trumpeting him as Ronald Reagan and Scott Walker rolled in one. Yet Rauner has named Bill Daley — who, again, was formerly President Obama's chief of staff — to his transition team.

"Back in medieval times, some groups of Catholic bishops began to sell indulgences to the ignorant masses. It was simple: Pay a fee to the church and escape suffering in purgatory’s frying pan. It was said at the time, “As soon as a coin in the coffer rings, a soul from purgatory springs.”

"If a candidate with Rauner’s history can buy political absolution with donations, after being a major donor to the Democratic Party, Planned Parenthood, and the ACLU, then why bother with the seemingly petty exercise of living by a conservative creed?"

Huberman was the Tech-Wiz that Barb McDonald sponsored directly through Lil Dick Daley. Unfortunately for the Chicago Police Department, all of Humberman's technology revolution was misguided and for years we had computer systems that were not properly fused together. Ron was always arrogant and slick hiding his homosexuality until he was outed while head of the Chicago Public Schools, where he was also a failure. So based on his record of screwing up everything he touches; I predict he will be the new head of the Illinois State Police! Remember, they once had a former CPD Sgt. as their head and now they have a CPD former exempt. Huberman was a CPD Exempt, though he never was a Detective, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain or Commander. He went from Patrol Officer to Exempt! If Chicago was Legit, this would be impressive. Unfortunately, Chicago is not legit, so this was just another example of clout."G"

To be fair, his committee list is quite comprehensive. He has a little bit of everything on there. Unless he picks the minds of these people who have experience with the machine, how will he know what he's is up against? The last thing we need is someone who picks a group of people that tell him or her only what he/she wants to hear.

This is a list of people to whom he can say, "Ok; tell me your concerns. Tell me why you think we're failing. Tell me what you did that worked, or, didn't work."

I wouldn't read too much into it at this point.

You can't do a proper job unless you know what you're up against, and moreover, who might be an enemy to actual progress.

"New book details Rahm Emanuel, Bill Daley, Bruce Rauner relationship

"A...book about Mayor Rahm Emanuel is drawing attention, the Chicago Reader writes, and the author goes into detail about a deal involving the "Mayor 1%," Bill Daley and GOP gubernatorial candidate Bruce Rauner that raked in $18 million for Emanuel:

"In perhaps the most informative chapter of Mayor 1%, Cashing In, Lydersen writes about the years from 1998 to 2002, after Emanuel left the Clinton White House and before he was elected congressman from a north-side district.

"That's when he utilized his "golden Rolodex" [That's catching on, huh? You're welcome.] to rake in more than $18 million as an investment banker. Among the deals he helped put together was "the purchase of the home alarm company SecurityLink from SBC Communications, then run by his longtime friend and former White House colleague Bill Daley."

"That deal also involved investment banker Bruce Rauner..."

Wonderful photo here of Emanuel and Rauner strolling around with bottles of The Good Stuff, taking in the clean mountain air...

Emanuel-Rauner ties create campaign subplot

"Just a few months before announcing plans to become Chicago's next Democratic mayor, Rahm Emanuel strolled down the gravel path to a Montana resort restaurant with Republican businessman Bruce Rauner, both men smiling as they carried bottles of wine.

"In his hand, Emanuel carried a bottle of Napa Valley Reserve. The wine — which a spokeswoman says was not Emanuel's — is so exclusive it is available only through a private vineyard whose members pay six figures to join the club.

"It was not the only time Emanuel, then chief of staff to President Barack Obama, has been a guest of the venture capitalist, who owns thousands of acres of ranchland and homes out West. Their relationship — steeped in the high-stakes investment banking business and a shared approach to remaking public education — is no secret to anyone who follows Illinois politics..."

Did Rauner camp interfere with this Sun-Times reporter's job?

By Lynne Marek October 17, 2014

"A Chicago Sun-Times reporter hired former federal prosecutor Patrick Collins to investigate whether the campaign of Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Rauner tried to interfere with his employment after the newspaper ran a story unfavorable to the politician.

"Mr. Collins said in an interview with Crain's that the Rauner campaign attempted to retaliate against Sun-Times political reporter Dave McKinney after the paper ran the story about Mr. Rauner allegedly verbally threatening a top executive of a company controlled by Mr. Rauner's onetime investment firm. Mr. Rauner denied that report through a spokesman.

"RAUNER ENDORSEMENT

"Mr. Rauner previously owned a 10 percent stake in Chicago Sun-Times parent Wrapports. Mr. Rauner sold that stake to Wrapports chief Mr. Ferro last year for $5 million before he decided to run for governor.

"The Sun-Times today announced that it would once again begin making political endorsements, reversing a decision it made nearly three years ago after Mr. Ferro, Mr. Rauner and other wealthy Chicagoans purchased the newspaper company in 2011.

"The paper said today that its first endorsement under the revived practice would be published on Sunday. The endorsement now appears on the Sun-Times website under the headline "Bruce Rauner for governor."

Ok as a Sgt I still pay the 60 bucks or whatever it is each year to still belong to Fop. That being said Voight or for that matter any person that is not a Po has no business serving or even running for Fop office. Voight was a union suck ass his whole career and parlayed that into a meritorious Sgt spot right before he retired. Then he had the balls to run for an office in a Po union. So I'm glad he got thrown out.

Food for thought when talking about any changes to the pension:

http://www.dnainfo.com/new-york/20141103/south-jamaica/nypd-officer-attacked-with-hatchet-only-eligible-for-29-a-day-pension

The officer who was recently attacked by the axe-wielding islamic terrorist in NYC will only be entitled to $27 / per day according to new pension rules. Is this what we risk our lives for?

11/07/2014 11:08:00 AM

In NYC if you are a Tier 3 officer, yes, that is sadly what you risk your lives for. I read they are trying to change that to the previous three quarters tax free duty disability but ultra liberal Democrat Mayor de Blasio is against restoring the line of duty benefit.

Don't anyone on CPD tell me ever again how good they have it over on NYPD and curse things here. Wait and see how Gov Rauner treats the police. Yes, I know what he said. Did anyone bother to get that in writing? My first wife said she would love me till death do us part too.

I dislike Quinn and Rauner.
But all you Rauner voters supported the wrong horse in this race.
In Illinois the only difference between the Republicans and Democrats are the names.
Both parties sucks and both are going to steal your pensions.
Sometimes an anti Obama vote is a pro Obama vote.
Think term limits and defeating the Cook County machine.

Calm down, everybody. Jesus Christ. Get some perspective, and maybe read "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu.

To the pro-Quinn trolls: what the fuck are you gloating about? You wanted Quinn, now you're saying Rauner is like Quinn, but you don't like him? Are you retarded? Drop your dogma. "Ain't nobody got time for that".

To those who are posting biased articles from biased resources, please. Your articles cherry-pick, just like Breitbart. If you do not know how the business world works, then I suggest you take a class or two. We are the sad by-product of the dumbing down of education, and the indoctrination of generations. How embarrassing.

If you think an outsider can step inside of Illinois politics without getting to know his or her enemies on an intimate level, then you've got another thing coming.

How do you know that Rauner was not using Rham? Moreover, whatever Rauner has donated to in the past as a businessman, such as Planned Parenthood, have we conservatives not been bitching about the fact the private individuals/industry should take up the slack? Well, he DID. So shut up.

Why don't you just let the guy try to fix Illinois, regardless of who he calls upon? Now, if he gets in there, and totally screws us, then fine. Bitch.

But in the meantime, let's incorporate some logic, some faith and some damn perspective.

OT: Hey Sergeants. Just heard Dean and his boys launched Retired Sergeant Mike Voight from the FOP Board of Directors even though the FOP bylaws allowed him to run and serve.

So, they take his dues money for how many years and then tell him his membersip doesn't mean shit? This could happen to any retired sergeant. Why would anyone continue to pay dues to an organization that can screw them over so easily? I know I won't be paying mine unless he is reinstated.

11/07/2014 11:08:00 AM

******
FROM THE BY-LAWS:

Only Active members below the rank of Sergeant,o have been in continuous good standing for two (2) years, and who have attended at least one half of the regular business meetings held in the past twelve (12) months may be candidates for office in this Lodge. The official sign-in book and excused absences for good cause shall be the sole materials used to determine eligibility for office. Nominations may be made in December of each third year following December 1986. Nominations will be made from the floor by any member in good standing and do not require a second. The nominations cannot be re-opened after being duly closed at the nomination meeting. Any qualified candidate will be required to sign a letter of acceptance during the month of nominations in order to be eligible for election.

PS Active members has nothing to do with retired or working. It means your dues are paid and you go to the meetings. Voight is a Fraternal member as a Sgt. he just can't hold office.

I have been advocating against rauner (not pro Quinn) for two years on this site and in person, and every time I said he was shady, every time I said don't trust a business man to be noble to invest that much Money in himself and not expect a return, I get my pee pee slapped buy many of you. I have come to this simple conclusion: after 11 years with this city, I don't give a fuck!!! Give me my pension money I paid in, ill reinvest it in the few options of 401k plans the city will match (all funded and invested in by rauner), and ill take it and enjoy time on this earth with my family. Hopefully ill have enough to be comfortable till I die at around 80 god be willing. I'm done trying to persuade stupidity, especially in this department and this state. When 67-70% of Illinois voters vote to raise the minimum wage and then vote for a guy who is on record saying he would reduce or abolish it... some people you just can't reach. Which is the way they want it...well, they get it.

"Logic and perspecitve" were all perfectly available to the residents of the Illinois counties who carried for Rauner. They ignored the direst warnings from more then a year ago. Well, f__k them. Sorry, but there it is.

I love you, but you f__ed up.

Includes all my downstate friends with their kids' arms missing from a split-second encounter with a PTO while helping Dad get it in under the lights and bad weather coming. Ag is a rough biz. Like you would know.

"Faith?" Gotta be kidding. Only a cultist would have "faith" in such an obvious "bad actor."

So you qualify. As a cultist, I mean. Woo-hoo. Ain't getting you no $140,000 per year bottle of Napa Secret Rahm I. Emanuel Reserve. On someone else's dime.

Huh?

Hang in there. Your worst dreams will yet be realized.

Underdstand that pro wreckers/salvagers Roy Strom have been retained to try to get Rahm's half-sunken "Haunted House" barge away from smashing against Navy Pier. Try to patch, pump up air, refloat and sneak the pathetic mess up the river late at night when they can open bridges and not f__ up traffic too bad.

Wonder if they will dump it in the same vacant lot next to Rahm's slightly fire-damaged "Victorian mansion" from the last waterfront do...

"Faith," he says.

Not such a bad strategy really. He gets to pick people's brains, make sure he's taking all facts and past history into account, and they're less likely to badmouth him if they have a seat at the table. He doesn't have to take everyone's advice. And did you read that he's been getting policy advice from the Walker and Daniels camps? (And before you start in, check the facts on how Walker's measures affected the police and fire pensions, and the endorsements he got.)

I have been following this blog for years and in the last two years, I've been advocating against rauner (not pro Quinn) but I have adopted a new attitude toward this department, city, and state: I don't five a fuck anymore!
After 11 years with this city and growing up here, I will take all the all my money I paid into my pension, reinvest it in the 401k style system rauner puts in place (which he invests heavily in and will make millions) and give up everything promised to me because thats what Illinois voted for. How can people vote 67-70% to increase the minimum wage, then vote in a guy that is on record opposing the idea of minimum wage as a whole! And cops voted for him. Middle class voted for him. Quinn is not better, but not vindictive, just dumb! Rahm could not expect help from Springfield and forced to fix his "crisis". I wonder what kinds of rare liquor they will be drinking at rauners ranch this time? Im glad rauner voters believe that a wise business man invested 26mil in his own campaign because he cares about Illinois...and doesn't stand to gain ten times that amount in deals already made! If you argue he is noble and cares for Illinois more than a return on his investment, he is not a business man at all and in fact dumber than quinn!
