Clemency?
- Gov. Pat Quinn granted 179 clemency petitions in time for Christmas, but thousands of other applicants are anxiously awaiting word on past criminal records during the Democrat’s final weeks in office.
Quinn still faces roughly 3,000 requests with less than three weeks before Republican Gov.-elect Bruce Rauner takes office. Some want criminal records expunged. Others seek innocence pardons to clear their names. Advocates say the uncertainty with how Rauner will act — it’s the businessman’s first elected office — have given them a sense of urgency. But how far Quinn will get is unclear.
Quinn's inattention to detail worries most normal thinking people in these cases.

Most clemency has to do with restoring rights after a period of time. For example, someone has some offense 10, 20, 40 years ago and wants to go hunting again, they have to petition for clemency.
Its the sort of thing that whips up a bit of hysteria at first but once you examine it and see what it really is, its usually pretty benign. Gone are the days when it was rubber-stamped.
Anyone in the Media covering the types of people Quinn is granting clemency to???
I think it would make a good story as to "who gets out and off".
Funny- where is all the media on this?
Just wondering?
Don't bet on that !
ALL governors do it.
All of these democrats are socialist scum in sheep's clothing. Remember that whey you decide to vote for a democrat. They support criminals over the police. It's a fact.
Quinns a Communist (Democrat), does not care about the lives he puts in danger by releasing this vermin. He is rodent excrement, even looks like a big, fat Rat.
Typical Lib Dbag. Make a mess so you can benefit. Let the pile of shit drop in the next guy's lap. If this guy ever runs for another elected office, I hope the dopes in this state keep this in mind. I hate Quinn almost as much as JJJ but just slightly more than Rush, Rahman, PPa Madigan, and the Strogers.
Gone are the days when it was rubber stamped? Maybe so. But the days when political influence creeps into the process is alive and well.
How about NO? How about being responsible for your actions? Second chances, probation, parole, elected officials with records, forget all this forgiveness. Look where it has gotten us in society.
Seems cold? Too bad. If people were actually held accountable for their actions, and KNEW they would be for the rest of their lives, maybe they would make better choices. Certainly we as a society would be better off.
A real nincompoop. He really had a chance and blew it. How dumb.
Jimmy Moriarty petition the Governor yet?
Clinton pardoned hundreds on his last day in office, some real scumbags,,,,,,,including his loser brother who wound up rearrested within the year.
He has a head full of applesauce can't be trusted to do the right thing.
Clemency, aren't those the little oranges that are sweet and you can eat about 30 of them?
Quinn is just nutty enough to grant them all.
The back log is Blagovich's fault. He did not approve or reject applications, he just let them sit so there was a huge back log.

No. He was the leader of France during the First World War silly.
These idiot Governors ought to be prohibited from granting clemency AFTER the election, IF they haven't been re-elected.
Take away any of the "Oh well, I have nothing to lose" thoughts, and make it so that they can't grant clemency for 60 days BEFORE the election to retain them (whether they're a candidate or not).
If they don't win the election - they can't do anything. That's the way it should be.
But until Illinois gets its corrupt bullshit cleaned out, it's gonna stay the way it is because the clouted have too many they want to get off while Da Gubnor has nothing to lose...
Hey, I realize this was a Presidential Pardon, but it's a necessary process. What's DePaul' L-School to be named if not for a pardon. It's a small fortune to go to Rostenkowski U.......
No harm, no foul
Quinn will be governor till the last minute, in other words keep them bribes coming.
No. He was the leader of France during the First World War silly.

good one.
And just think, in 3 years we'll have another Clinton as president.
Would never happen. First black president was/is a disaster. Country is not ready for another first. My hope is that we'll have a bush in office, just not a female.

You don't understand the facts.
Clemency is extremely rare in the US. In other countries that have radically lower crime than we do, it is not only 'common', it is routine.
You are comically off base if you think that clemency 'causes crime' but such is the nature of this issue where hysteria is louder than understanding.

Another narcissist speaks. you have projected your frame of mind (or experience?) to my post and missed the point. I don't believe in forgetting a person's misdeeds. The victim can forgive if they so choose, but society should not forget. I don't believe in clemency.
I have chosen to live a crime free life, so I see no down side to that way of thinking. You obviously have a different way of thinking, or agenda.
Quinn's the one who really belongs in prison
Quinn's a commie -Democrat. They love criminals. More proof positive
