Revisiting WWII?

  • A leading Russian elected official on Thursday called for an investigation of the United States' atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II as a "crime against humanity."

The effort to reconsider history by Sergei Naryshkin, the parliament's lower house speaker, comes on the heels of two similar calls by colleagues earlier in the week to revisit significant events involving Russia during the 20th century.
We heard Obummer is all set to tender a public apology any moment now.

What! My father fought over there and lived his entire life never feeling sorry for what he had to do. The way they treated our boys and yes most were boys is unconscionable. The Japanese were willing to sacrifice every man, woman and child. Thousands of our military men would have died if we hadn't dropped those bombs. Speaking for my father I am not sorry!

They never mention the fault of the Japanese for failing to bring the war to an early end much less starting it in the first place. All the Japanese atrocities everywhere they set their bloody boot heels are forgotten. There is a photo I have of my father, a T-5 U.S. Army Engineer at the ruins of Nagasaki in 1945. Thank God the Japanese surrounded because after the bloodbaths of Iwo Jima and Okinawa an invasion of the home islands would have cost hundreds of thousands of American lives. Think about this, the U.S. ordered a half million Purple Hearts in preparation for that invasion. The U.S military is giving those out to today's wounded warriors.

our friends on the left say that we should not had used the bomb, it killed too many people.

Well, look at those bombing stats, dropping the a-bomb killed fewer people than if the US had fire bombed that city. on average, fire bombing killed 500k.

I would not had wanted to be one of those guys who would had been assigned to get dropped off a landing craft back in the day.

The Japanese are smart enough to understand the bombs saved Millions of Japanese from starvation and death. They forced the Emperor to overrule the military and surrender.

The bombs saved a million US casualties. We are still issuing Purple Heart Medals today that were struck in anticipation of casualties from the invasion of Japan on 1945.

As Napoleon said, history is a set of lies agreed upon. The communists want desperately to erase their murder of tens of millions of their own people under the utopian communist states they created. Hitler killed six million Jews, but the communists murdered by the tens of millions. The Soviet Union killed 20 million, China killed 65 million (that's the state Obamao's administration loves the most) Cambodia killed 2 million, Vietnam killed 1 million, North Korea killed 2 million. The list goes on.

These are the people you voted for so that they could bring those policies to the United States. Keep listening to your socialist union bosses. It can't happen here, right? That's what they said in every one of those countries.

This is just tit for tat as the Russians are just trying to say insulting things back at the United States for all the United States foolish insults of Russia in the Ukraine, Crimea.

Putin's Russia is now the most anti Leftist, anti Communist nation in the Western world.

Think a All Sharpton would be leading mobs of Black criminals and White Leftist anarchists opposing the police in Putin's Russia?

Google what happened to a Leftist Lesbian Punk rock band "Pussy Riot" that invaded an historic Russian Orthodoc Church and insulted Putin and Russian nationalists.

Pussy Riot band members were arrested, prosecuted and sentenced to hard labor camps in Siberia.

Another while they are at it. How about the Russians accepting responsibility for the Katyn massacre where Stalin ordered the murder of 20,000+ Polish Army Officer's in 1940 after they decided to invade eastern Poland.

I no doubt that Obama would give this idea serious consideration if it would add to his legacy.

June, 1945.

Huge casualties result from the battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. As America fights closer to the Japanese Empire, resolve hardens. The Allied powers are determined for unconditional surrender while Japanese leaders preach "one-hundred million die proudly for the Emperor". This leaves Harry Truman with three alternatives to end the war:

Alternative 1: Blockade Japan. Starve 'em out! It would only take 2 to 5 years, millions of Japanese deaths alongside worldwide condemnation of the Allies, to force surrender.

Alternative 2: Invade Japan. The greatest bloodbath the world would ever see. Hundreds of thousands of Allied and millions of Japanese deaths - and possibly the extinction of the Japanese culture.

Alternative 3: Drop the bombs. Kill 250,000 horribly and dramatically to end the war RIGHT NOW! Nothing less than direct military use of atomic bombs would convince the Japanese Empire to surrender immediately. Both America and Japan had everything to gain by avoiding the inevitable slaughter that was sure to come.

Now you tell me - which of the above alternatives would be considered a "crime against humanity"?

How about the rampaging rape of eastern Europe by the advancing Soviet army in 1945? "course in Russia I dont think "rape" is considered much of a crime.

Then Stalin got rid of millions in populations he didnt want around Post War by starving them.

Torture, secret police "the real kind", Gulags galore, were lucky that bunch of heinous Reds didn't get the bomb first or we'd all be wearing cardboard shoes and standing in bread lines.

And as I remember Stalin was thrilled when we nuked the Japs cause then he was able to invade and occupy Manchuria without a fight.

The Race Card will be played, and I have heard it before including a specific book that states the Japanese were bombed with the atomic bomb because they were not White. Commies like to play up Race, as is evident from our own Commies, the Mayors of New York and Chicago. Yet what someone posted earlier is true, we killed more White people bombing German cities such as Dresden and Hamburg. It was a War Without Mercy,(I believe that was the name of the book cited earlier.) because it was a war of survival. The Russians have some nerve, since they stayed out of it until they knew we would win, then they stole part of Asia. History is written by the Victors, and the victors in that War were the Commies, and they are still winning today in the U.S..

Oh, but you are wrong! The slave trade was alive and well in China and Russia for centuries. They just did not get their slaves from Africa. The fact that Russia wants criminal investigations of anything that occurred in WWII is laughable. They forget about the millions Stalin killed, the millions of POWs that were slaves and were starved to death, the millions of women their soldiers raped and the fact they enslaved countries that did not fight against them in the war and kept them enslaved for decades. If I didn't know better this sounds like some liberal attempt to rewrite history.

Don't forget the Nanking Massacre known as the Rape of Nanking.

Approx 300,000 dead plus countless thousands of atrocities. By the Japanese of the Chinese.

Perhaps the most notorious atrocity was a killing contest between two Japanese officers as reported in the Tokyo Nichi Nichi Shimbun and the English language Japan Advertiser. The contest— a race between the two officers (later executed for wartime atrocities) to see which of them could kill 100 people first using only a sword— was covered much like a sporting event with regular updates on the score over a series of days

Spare me the bullshit of investigation of the atomic bomb use. It is estimated that dropping those two bombs saved as many as one million US Servicemen's lives.

And why were more nuclear devices not dropped?

Two working devices were all we had. I have no doubt more would have been dropped if we had them ready. And I wouldn't cry over that either. The Japanese are friends and allies now, to be sure. Not then. Then they were enemy combatants. Then they surrendered.

Then we rebuilt their country. We assisted in writing their constitution and the American governors of Japan astounded the Japanese with their generosity and fairness in rebuilding their country.

We allowed Japanese industrialists to come to this country where we essentially gave them our technology for almost everything and the Japanese rebuilt their industry and in so doing became dominant in industry segments where we once dominated. TV, electronics, machine tools, later computers, memory chips etc.

And what do we get? Raw fish (sushi) from a fishing industry now dominated by the Sun Myung Moon (Korean) and company.

But I must say, I like my Honda Accord. I bought a new one today. V6, great car. Not possible if we didn't nuke them in 1945. My Japanese Honda is made in the USA.

It read that the allies would kill japanese soldiers who were surrendering, word of that reached the japanese. THe following engagements, the course of human behavior actually took a drop a few notches. The Japanese would not surrender there after out of fear of being killed any ways. This behavior was also copied by allied troops, if you are not gonna surrender, I may as well fire ever round I got. It is very bizarre this behavior.

A number of years ago the Smithsonian Museum created an Enola Gay exhibit. It was done with a revisionist vision wanting "balance" about the racist bombing on the yellow man with the use of the A-bomb. Veterans groups protested and common sense prevailed. My mother's younger brother died in the Pacific theater and I'm sure my grandfather would have been glad if the A-bomb was used on Dec 6th 1941.

Maybe this Ruskie has a point. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Obama's maternal granddad a WWII vet? I thought he was a retired navy man and that is one of the reasons the family settled in Hawaii. Now if granddad had been killed invading the Japanese homeland, then he never would have had a daughter, who went on to have a son. How ironic that the libtards can bitch (and encourage others to do so) that the USA committed a war crime by dropping the A-bomb, but not admit that had it not, their ultimate wet dream, Obama in office, would not have come to pass. Goes to show, you just cannot win!

There is and was nothing wrong with the dropping of the A-bombs on Japan. Even some of the Japanese leaders realize that it brought the war to a speedier conclusion and save many thousands of lives on both sides.

While initially America wanted unconditional surrender, by summer 1945 the tremendous casualties coming from the PTO had the majority of the public just wanting the war over ASAP. The bombs did that.

The kamikaze attacks on Navy ships during the Okinawa operation produced over 12,000 casualties. Iwo Jima was 21,000 with 6800 killed.

The prospect of a land invasion was terrifying. The US planned on 100,000 casualties. The Japanese would have fought hand-to-hand, house-to-house.

The reason Russia is bring this up now is that they are facing a very angry population. With the drop in oil prices they are in a financial crisis. Oil was their main cash product. The other things that Russia sells, like vodka, caviar, babies and women for brides can not produce the amount of cash Putin needs to keep his political empire from blowing up.

After the Soviet Union went broke, Russia got some money by selling off its military hardware. But most of it was of such por design, construction and state of repair, all it really was good for was scrap.

Speaking as a high US History teacher, I am appalled by the trend in education, particularly as it relates to the teaching of US History. Although the academic field of History is indeed about the writings about historically significant human events, it is, as most things are, based on a particular point of view, namely, that of the historians, their place in time and geographic location, as well as their personal philosophies. Hence, there are multiple legitimate interpretations of events that are accepted to the extent of historical evidence provided. Having said that, there are many that look to tear down or vilify our History to be apologetic or politically correct. I see it all the time at my work place. Ignorant and pandering teachers that spew anti-American sentiment so that they can suck up to the current administration. When I teach US History to my very impressionable students, I give them an explanation of the varying perspectives, but always qualify it with the FACT that the United States of America is the greatest country in the world, and without her, the world would be a very dark place. This is not to say that we have not engaged in less than admirable actions. However, taking the whole into consideration, there is no other country that can make the claim that we have done the most good for humanity. The Russian equipment was "poor" design might be corrected to SIMPLE and easy to use like the RPGs and AK-47. The Russian ideal was always quantity over quality. Middle-east dictators like Saddam Hassan bought up MIG fighters, T-72 tanks and other Russian military hardware by hundreds. The IEDs blowing up now in Iraq and Afghanistan are largely made of old Russian tanks shells.

Another sideline when the Soviet system collapsed was that all their skilled currency engravers and technicians were thrown out of work. What do they do? Go to work for the Russian mob counterfeiting American and other countries currency. Over there that wasn't even illegal; but here we had to take great steps to make it harder to fake our money. It is still going on.
