More NYPD Crazy?

Just when you think they've hit bottom, someone finds a basement:
  • The NYPD has turned to Patrick Swayze to teach city cops how to behave.

Police bosses are using a scene from the 1989 action flick “Road House” as part of the mandatory, three-day retraining course for 22,000 cops, The Post has learned.

“You have to have a thick skin,” an instructor told cops forced to take part in the $35 million program before hitting play on the two-minute clip from the cult classic, sources said.

In the scene, Swayze — playing a tough-guy bouncer, Dalton — teaches his goons at the rowdy bar Double Deuce how to handle unruly customers.

First, he spells out three rules, with the third being simply, “Be nice.”
We don't know if NYPD returned to bringing in the nonsense numbers that Bratton was demanding, but we wouldn't blame them a bit if they still hadn't resumed working for these morons. They are going to get cops killed with this nonsense.

Roadhouse? Seriously?

I thinks it's a great idea. There's so many "verbal Judu" type things to say.
When the situation calls for the PO to talk tough the PO can simply say "I used to fuck guys like U in prison."
U can also inform some1 that "pain don't hurt." There's a myriad of quality lines that aren't just effective but totally professional.

Otherwise.... don't ask others to do something that you are unwilling to do yourself.

That scene isn't the worst one in the world to take inspiration from for law enforcement. Be nice, until it's time to not be nice. Seems reasonable.

...but the only problem is Al Sharpton gets to be the one who decides when that time is.

These are professionals presenting this necessary training. They are using examples from Hollywood. The Clintons' for example used Hollywood types to run their election campaigns, so it must work.

Should have shown Dirty Harry. Clint Eastwood is still the best. Go see Sniper, which he directed. The Hollywood elite snubbed it, that should be reason enough to see it. It's a great film.

This silly shit reminds me of a streaming video that I had to watch about respecting people's cultures when dealing with them as a police officer. One scene in the video was a domestic at an asian's house. When the police arrive the Asian homeowner asks the police to remove their shoes before going past the threshold of the door. Of course in the video the coppers comply. It was real fucking silly and it sounds like similar silliness is being pushed in New York. Fucking liberals just don't get it. After the video was shown to roll call the watch commander (not DSS) looked at everybody in the room and said ," do not do anything in this video ,unless of course you want to get injured or killed."
Granted this was about 15 years ago , but at least a boss knew this is nonsense and would result in coppers getting injured or killed.

I read the article yesterday.
At first I was bewildered, 'thought perhaps the article was written by The Onion,' or some such trash.
Within seconds, I grew pissed, realizing the story was reported by reputable news media.

In the future they'll expect cops to watch and enforce law after watching f'ing Bambi.

Actually, if you are familiar with the movie, I don't think the clip is that bad, if it is explained the right way. I have known way too many guys who take things way too personal and end up fighting when they didn't have to and getting hurt or other cops hurt. He says be nice until it's time not to. I would also question why a person became the police in the first place if they have a big problem with this. I always wanted to be the police, to help people and put bad guys in jail. You don't have a right to be racist or a hater on this job. It may fulfill your needs, but it makes us harder for the rest of us. same thing if you're racist. Back in the day in the projects, you learned pretty quick that being nice until you couldn't any more saved you and others an trip to the hospital.

That is so correct, if you dont believe it just ask the "leadership" and they will confirm. Geez a once great police department reduced to breathmints and Roadhouse movies. And Bratton afraid to stand up for his cops. How old is he, 78 years old. He should say F*ck it, and tell Sharpton, and the rest of the racial vampires, including Deblasio to go F*ck themselves, take his multiple pensions and get a condo in Sarasota.

agreed. But I must say, I think the hot head, always fighting and MFing everyone is a new guy thing. I know I was like that the first three years when I was on the Job. NOBODY was gonna talk back to me, not listen or stand up to me. If they questioned me then it was on. I would start yelling, threatening and then of course threaten to lock them up. then of course dude says, "for what, Im not doin anything". Ahhh yes, of course that is the one that always sets a young firepisser off. And yep, I always fell into that trap. But, dude was always right. I was stopping them, they were either just standing or walking and I was jumping out on them. Yet im the one who has to talk to them like they are an idiot and I was the hardass. Then finally they have enough of the tuff guy attituide and start talking back. So then Im not gonna be fronted out by this guy. Hes tellin me he doesnt care if he gets locked up so I slap the cuff on and sometimes they go in cuffs fine, others they dont and the fight is on. But then, Ive got cuffs on a guy who really didnt do anything at all in the first place and now do I follow up on locking him up???? We all know the answer to that 99 percent of the time NOPE! Throw him in the car, talk more tough stuff and then end up taking the cuffs off and telling him if your out here later yada yada yada blah blah blah.. Yeah, so either you look like a fool or the beef comes down. All because YOU ARE DA POLICE! Yelling, fighting, locking guys up for nonsense because they had an attituide and having the im a cop tuff guy attituide gets old really quick. TRRs, beefs and the headaches of always being pissed off at everyone you stop at work gets old. It ends up that now EVERYONE you stop you are automatically tuff and angry with. Why???? Relax and stop being so tuff. stop stressing yourself out at work with these guys. Act "cool". Act like you really dont give a crap. Act and treat them like they are a great person and a pillar of the community and be funny and respectful to them. Heres the catch, YOU DONT HAVE TO MEAN A SINGLE THING YOU SAY TO THEM! Put on an act because in 2 minutes you are gonna cut them loose and youre not stressed out and they are nun the wiser that you wanted to really check them out and your true feelings about them and their lifestyle. Too many coppers try to lecture thugs about getting a job, stop hustlin all day, what kinda gov check do you get, why dont you go to school, be a productive member of society. Save it... they dont care, neither should u.

That weasel Bratton shat all over himself again yesterday.

He told a black audience that police were akin to slavers historically.

Unfortunately, Bratton is correct. The first real police depts. in America were the slave patrols, who went around scooping up runaway slaves, often torturing them horrendously before returning them to the plantation owners, if the slave was fortunate enough to survive his/her capture. Read your history. Bratton nailed in on this topic, and the history of law enforcement roughing up, beating and intimidating blacks in the south, during slavery times and afterwards when free Blacks pushed for the right to vote, is a legacy which still lingers in the minds of many black citizens in this country today.

Leftwing police work, in a nutshell:

Cops should be nice to the savages and leftist rabble rousers while on patrol. But cops should provide back up support to revenue agents when they pursue people who are tired of bearing the costs of the bleeding hearts' alleged caring, tired of watching the cops help government to merge government with private business, and tired of being smeared as "Islamophobes" upon condemning Muhammad's cult, and so on.

Not that this is really so different from the situation under a centrist or rightwing regime. Even W. spouted nonsense about Islam being peaceful, and federal government power expanded radically during his administration.
