Bloody Weekend So Far
And once again, the indiscriminate gunfire claims a child:
- A 4-year-old girl playing outside a South Side party was shot in the head Friday evening after someone opened fire from a passing car. The sun hadn't yet set on the traditional first night of summer before the anguished cries of a mother pierced the air, and Chicago faced another senseless act of violence against a child.
Twenty people were shot and two people killed around the city between Friday afternoon and late Saturday.
Crime is down. The Department is up to strength. Guns are the problem. Something something something.

total people shot saturday from 2pm-midnight... 2. yep, only two. one in 003 and one in 011. Not too bad. Was very quiet. I did hear that one was just in 007 just before midnight. I think the 60 number might not make it unless sunday gets buck wild.. but if your counting monday too then who knows. but friday-sunday seems fairly quiet so far.

With all the all media blasting the white police working in the under served and under privileged neighborhoods, the Tribune has continually sent their photographers out to the crime scenes.
One thing that stands out in these photos...
Where are all the black officers? Traffic control?
The latest was the shooting again in Englewoods, maybe 1 black officer was in one of six photos.
Where are the rest representing the community?
And who is likely is getting blasted for being too-too aggressive. Who's getting the blame when crime continues to rise?
Too many young working-coppers in areas where they don't get the respect they deserve.
This Department has to be, by now, diversified enough to reflect this sort of perception.

Odds are, you can blame young Zack. If McFortunate knows the truth about what happened that night, that would explain why he's still got a job.
With all of this violence in Chicago we can take comfort that NO HUMAN BEINGS are being hurt!!!!!!!
