Another Call for Garry's Head
So if the Conspiracy Theory holds, first the media is tipped off Rahm wants Garry gone, then the political blocs get involved:
- New calls have surfaced for the chief of police to step down after 4 people were killed and 24 were wounded in Chicago this past weekend.
Except for a fatal stabbing in Uptown, every other incident happened on the South Side or West Side in neighborhoods that are enduring a big spike in violence this year.
The chairman of the City Council's Black Caucus, Alderman Roderick Sawyer, told FOX 32 News that his group may call for firing Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy.
African-American aldermen plan to meet Wednesday afternoon. Sawyer told FOX 32 that a majority of his colleagues want a new top cop.
South Side Ald. Roderick Sawyer said a series of conversations with his City Council colleagues in the last two days showed that "there is great discontent with Supt. McCarthy."
Now if only the FOP would kick in with a "no confidence" type press release. Something along the lines of hot summers, long sleeves, hats on during the hottest times of the year, general lack of concern for the comfort of the rank-and-file.

One solution to shootings and murders is to saturate the high crime areas with cops and keep them there. Has CPD tried stop and frisk?

He has put the arm on restaurants and bars where he eats and drinks for free. His hospital is Northwestern where he is being treated for his heart attack. He may get launched as superintendent but he will land on his feet somewhere in the city doing nothing and getting paid big money. He talks about how great New York is but he will never move from Chicago.

how about looking at CABODLE in I-CLEAR shows any crimes of any seriousness per beat. For example, look up how many burglaries i.e. residential burglaries reported during a two week period. Stretch the time period out over a total two month period. Primarliy check the crime conditions on your residential beat of occurrence.

All of the superintendents that have been appointed to the department had a choice to make; either be an independent thinking person who is willing to do what he knows to be logical and in the best interest of the public as well as his officers, OR, become another sycophant who ingratiates himself to politicians for a paycheck. If they are failures, it is because they allowed it to happen. If these men weren't content with selling out for the sake of their own greed and betterment, these politicians would have to get acclimated to dealing with an honest man who does not pander or acquiesce to pressure for the sake of political correctness and approval from the lowest common denominators of society. The cycle continues because people have become too comfortable accepting the same crap decade after decade, and there's and endless line of unscrupulous people waiting to take the last one's spot, even if it meant selling their own mother for it.

I agree with your statement. The black politicians want a black police leader thinking that they will have more influence and more clout. Just ask Uncle Terry. But, nothing will stop or slow down the violent crime in the black communities until the residents decide themselves to pitch in. Most people think that the violence is caused by the drug wars, but recent research says no, the violence is caused by personal disputes among residents. McCarthy probably will go soon as all chiefs are hired to be fired for an impossible job. Clarke of Milwaukee County would never be hired here. Just like Bratton of NY said he would never come to Chicago. They are too outspoken and not politically correct. I am retired and I have no grasp of who is currently on the department who would make a competent superintendent. But, going from past experience, not a lot of talent among the gold stars. Nothing creative comes from their brains and way too political, at least under daley.

That was a great statement by the PO and it was followed up by a unit rep requesting that Dean have the membership vote on who would be the PO rep on the Casino Board. It seems to me in a cloutocratic department like the CPD, to have ones ear to the ground and know what's needed on the street and have the respect of the rank-and-file; and to know who in your command staff is playing you, it would be a good idea for the superintendent to get out on the street incognito -- a lot.
If U2 and Prince can perform on street corners and the audience is clueless who they are watching, a superintendent can go under cover as it were, get in one of those mad max cruisers/squads with all the paint falling off and the inside smelling like ass (a term read here) and see what's going down on the street and see what's needed. Then he tells those below him, get it done and he backs them.
He's got to work fast, because the Alderman, race baiters and political whores are going to go after him big time.
When the mayor goes soft, he can ask him to suit-up incognito as he has done for months and go for a few rides or ask the mayor if he wants him to ride out of here.
Where the results show themselves, and they will eventually, it will be obvious such a superintendent did the best they could and was working to protect the citizens of this city and do the heavy lifting that the job requires.
The citizens will know it too.
It's the difference in a top cop working for a check or working for the city.
As a citizen, it's been years now and McCarthy's not the guy. 'Had a hint of that with the government sponsored racism comment at the outset.

Police strategies don't really matter that much. Nothing clears a neighborhood corner like a multiple homicide shooting, and the offenders taken into custody, and charged with murder. Good old fashioned police work. Does anybody remember that? I don't care who the superintendent is. Black, white, Latino, just a figurehead. Real police work is the key, and it becoming as rare as a unicorn.

The fix to the problem is relatively easy, when McJersey Shore came to Chicago one of his first things done was to disband 2 units that went out and locked up EVERYBODY. I never cared for TRU or MSF but besides f**king up a Tact Teams surveillance and trying to steal heads, they went in to a problem area and locked everyone up. They were everywhere! They're still part of patrol, they're still on the streets, in between 2 hour lunches, and they wheren't afraid to go hands on. Hey, I know...nows not the time to be hands on anymore. If that's how you feel, hang it up and retire. Your used up and no longer needed. McCarthy is not for the troops! He's all about himself and a failed system that might have worked in New York, but will not work in Chicago. He's inundated HQ and all the districts with a bunch of bosses who have never been the police, and have no leadership abilities. He's turned the merit system into more of a joke then it ever was, but that comes back around to him making bosses out of idiots anyway. He thinks Chicago is the second city to New York and is trying his best to make Chicago a mirror image of New York, Bureau of Patrol, Detectives Bureau, Bureau of Organized Crime...F**k him and all the people he brought with him!

The corruption today is of a total breakdown in command and leadership. This whole fucked up "phone-call" culture and "taking care" of some clouted select few is OUT OF CONTROL. No integrity = no police department.

I am retired and I have no grasp of who is currently on the department who would make a competent superintendent. But, going from past experience, not a lot of talent among the gold stars. The killings continue because the ghetto now encompasses about 60% of Chicago geographically and it is spreading as savages venture into white areas with no police protection.
The lack of police in white areas + section 8 neighbors + shit schools makes whites leave Chicago, thus creating more ghetto. This eventually results in a statistical uptick in killings in said area.

Name one really good superintendent since 1989, just one. Someone who was innovative, for the troops, had some good ideas, refused to politically promote incompetents, did some modern things for the department.??? I bet you cannot and name specifics, because there was no one. All political hacks who did what they were told and were so inbred lacked credible ideas. The one thing I can say for J-Fled and McCarthy, they did bring some fresh ideas to the CPD. And, anyone who says the NY ways won't work for Chicago is really full of it and does not know what they are talking about. I am long gone but from my perspective McCarthy is doing what he can under severe restrictions coming from city hall. After all, the police superintendent is a member of the mayor's cabinet and he cannot totally ignore what the mayor wants. Get real in your demands. Times have changed everywhere in this country and police work will never be what it was. All you can do is keep your finger in the dyke and try to keep your job and pension.
