Another Piece of the Puzzle

It seems the Department has re-opened the TO-SPOT overtime initiative, in both 4 and 8 hour increments.

The program only seems to re-open when Federal money becomes available, usually when a specific threat or threat profile is detected.

Expect some announcements shortly.

A property tax hike is coming for Chicago homeowners. You just have to read the tea leaves.

I am paying $5300 in property taxes for my bungalow by Irving Park and Harlem. Across in the suburbs it would be closer to $8000 and in other suburbs outside of Cook County it would be even higher. We are held hostage and you can't do anything about it. And these politicians know it. I have 19 years on the job and am 47 years old. My wife is 45. Plus we have two kids. Plus my family lives here. Where the fuck are we going to go? We are going to stay because circumstances dictate that we need to stay. These politicians know it. Some people will leave but not a boat load. Not even close to it and that is why a property tax hike is coming.

Off topic: anyone on citywide 5 yesterday for the pride parade notice that nearly every single incident that happened in 019 within blocks of the parade route was immediately declared "not parade related" by some boss?

Drunks falling out - not parade related
Gang disturbance - not parade related
Battery in progress - not parade related
Person shot - not parade related
Shots fired AT THE POLICE - not parade related
Ect, ect, ect - not parade related

No boss, your right, none of these things happened to any floats or persons on the actual parade route itself....

I guess this must be a typical day in 019.

I worked it the first time around. The city tripped over itself to get the word out that they were doing this for the welfare and safety of it's citizens. And it was all paid for by the Feds.

When the detail was due to expire, the Feds approached the city and offered to extend it BUT they would have to kick in half the funding. Suddenly, the welfare and safety of the citizens wasn't a big concern and the detail was canceled.

FBI setting up command centers to monitor terrorist threats over July 4 weekend

Published June 29, 2015FoxNews.com

"The FBI is establishing command centers around the country to monitor any potential terrorist threats around the July 4 weekend, a federal law enforcement source told Fox News.

"The source said while there is no specific, credible threat surrounding the holiday, its symbolic nature offers a potential target for terror groups like ISIS. Authorities are particularly concerned about soft targets like shopping malls and other areas where there are large gatherings of people and rather light security, according to the source.

"Information from local, state and federal law enforcement agencies will be sent to the command centers so officials can gauge the threat level and respond quickly.

"Another law enforcement source told Fox the FBI’s strategy has shifted toward getting ISIS supporters off the streets as soon as possible, given that it’s hard to predict when one might go operational. This could include arresting individuals on lesser charges and then building a broader case once that person is in custody."

Donald Trump says cops should be tougher on Chicago crime John Byrne and Rick Pearson,,,,,''

anybody got access to clout city???
Id like to read what this dumb ass wants us to do

-=-

Businessman Donald Trump brought his nascent bid for the Republican presidential nomination to town Monday, warning that crime in Chicago is "out of control" and hurting the city's image worldwide.

His appearance before the Chicago Tribune Editorial Board and for a speech at the City Club of Chicago came the same day NBC announced it was cutting ties with Trump, star of the long-running reality television program "Celebrity Apprentice." The network cited his remarks from his presidential kickoff speech earlier this month that Latino immigration brings drugs, crime and rapists to the United States.

[...]

But much of his remarks to the Tribune focused on crime in Chicago, which he said is damaging the city's reputation.

"Crime in Chicago is out of control and I will tell you, outside of Chicago, it's a huge negative and a huge talking point, a huge negative for Chicago," he said.

"You've got to stop it. You're not going to stop it by being nice. You're going to stop it by being one tough son of a bitch," Trump said.

Trump acknowledged there have been cases of police brutality but said he believed police today are not as tough as when he was growing up in the mid-1960s.

"You need tough cookies. These are tough kids. These are not babies. These are tough, tough kids. If they saw you walking down the street, they wouldn't give a damn about you," he said. "You can't be so gentle with these people."

"I'm a big fan of the police, but I think the police now are afraid to act. They're afraid to be tough."

He recalled how police dealt with gangs when he was in his late teens in the mid-1960s, when he said he and his father would regularly visit a White Castle in Brooklyn.

"They were very good," he said of the well-known burgers. "I don't know if they're even still around."

Trump said gangs would inhabit the restaurant "and these cops would walk in there and they had sticks in those days and they'd break up those gangs and those gang members were petrified of those guys. Petrified," Trump said.

"You have some rough cops, but the cops aren't so rough today, to put it mildly, OK? And today the kids are shouting at the cops and calling them all sorts of names and laughing at them like it's a joke. Different world.

"Today if the cops ever did that they'd have 'em arrested and given the electric chair," Trump said. "They didn't do wrong. They were just forceful. They were strong. And today it's not even politically correct to say that."

[...]

House Homeland Security chairman warns Americans to 'remain vigilant' ahead of July 4th

June 28, 2015

"Rep. Mike McCaul, chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, warned Americans on “Fox News Sunday” to “remain vigilant” to homegrown terror threats as the July Fourth holiday approaches.

“I am extremely concerned about Syrian and ISIS recruiters can use the Internet at lightning speeds to recruit followers in the United States with thousands of followers in the United States and then activate them to do whatever they want to do,” McCaul said. “Whether it’s military installations, law enforcement or possibly a Fourth of July event parade.”

"...the Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested 10 U.S. citizens plotting attacks on American soil over the past three weeks. Many of the calls for [violence] came from social media messages, Internet-based propaganda and other digital domains..."

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2015/06/28/house-homeland-security-chair-warns-americans-to-remain-vigilant-ahead-july-4th/

"On Thursday, McCaul introduced a bill that would establish a full-time federal office dedicated to combating violent extremism on U.S. soil."

Uh...I thought that's what the Department Of Homeland Security was supposed to do...

Dozens of teens storm Georgia Walmart in wild rampage of destruction

Published June 30, 2015 Associated Press

"MACON, Ga. – Authorities say up to 50 teenagers bent on destruction raced into a Macon Walmart, smashing merchandise and causing an estimated $2,000 in damage.

"Bibb County sheriff's officials say some of the young people snatched a man from a motorized shopping cart and dragged him to the floor during the rampage around 2 a.m. Sunday.

"Sheriff's officials said one of the teens later told a Walmart employee that the goal was to see how much damage they could cause.

"Sheriff's officials say floors were coated with broken merchandise."

"The Telegraph reports that the teens ran when deputies arrived, but a 17-year-old boy was arrested when he returned to the store to retrieve his cellphone."

With a straight face. Like nothing was wrong...

Watch yourselves, everyone.
