Life Sentence

  • Timothy Herring, a man found guilty of the 2010 murders of Chicago Police Officer Michael Flisk and former Chicago Housing Authority Officer Stephen Peters, has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Herring listened to his sentence without emotion inside a packed Cook County courtroom Friday.

"There are some cases that stand out among the rest, this is one of those cases. You have earned each and every day of this sentence," Judge Mary Margaret Brosnahan said.
God bless the family and the families of all the fallen.

Life in prison is bullshit in Illinois.

This vicious fucker will be out some day. Illinois values him more then it values police officers.

Hopefully, he will be shanked in prison and suffer terribly.

Fuck Illinois, Fuck Chicago, and fuck Cook County.

Life without parole. Sounds like a legal term. It probably has a meaning.

Just like "an exchange established by the state" had one meaning until the courts bent themselves into pretzels to change it to mean "the state or the Secretary of Health and Human Services," since they both are exactly the same.

If he serves forty years, I will be surprised.

I'm glad for the sentencing and guilty verdict, however, as we have seen the parole board in ten or even fifteen years from now will probably parole this fuck.

OT Topic Prisoner Review member Donald Shelton

Here is a link to an article showing Prisoner Review now retired Sergeant Don Shelton performing the duties that "he is best known for"....directing traffic

http://www.news-gazette.com/news/local/2012-09-27/departing-champaign-police-sergeant-worked-keep-school-zones-safe.html

His decision was based on all of his years of experience corraling school children and dodging cars. I wonder how many felony arrests he made in his career in Champaign? Or how many times he fired his weapon while he defended himself, partner of a innocent bystander? I assume that he used all of his years of experience and countless times he was chasing an armed suspect down a dark gangway in making his boneheaded decision.

Reading the article, it all make sense why de doesn't have the testicular fortitude to stand on the side of justice and Ofc Barton's family. We all can sleep easy knowing that he currently makes $85,886 a year to struggle with these decisions.

God bless them all. Way to go police brass by not showing up for the sentencing. Only Commander Joe Murphy of 177 was in court for the sentence to support his guys and the families. McDrunkass egomaniac never showed up once to support the Flisk family. That's disgraceful. The prosecutors on the case worked round the clock on the case for weeks before and during the trial. Numerous officers came during the trial and for the sentencing. It's amazing to see the brotherhood of the officers. And it's disgusting to see the lack of respect by the superintendent

Anita Alvarez also extended sympathy to the Herring fambly, laying the whole thing off on "This is another example of what guns do...the result of gun violence"

I thought Herring did it.

What's the point.... In a couple of decades or less, he is going to be released by a parole board who wasn't around for the pain he caused and won't understand the pain his actions still causes, and will release him because he has been "rehabilitated". Smh, that's why we need the death penalty back, especially for cop killers!

Just a few posts below this one is about the parole of Joseph Bigsby who was sentenced to 200 years for the murder of P.P Edward L. Barron.

While I cheer the sentencing in this case, I am not satisfied that it has any true lasting value based on Bigsby's parole.

The overwhelming response to the Bigsby parole was, "don't do anything" on the job because it's not worth it.

I guess that I was 40 years ahead of the current attitude. Pure brilliance!

So, stay safe out there!

I would like to know if there are people here willing to help me organize a "Blue Pride" parade. Not one that just spans 8 blocks in Mt. Greenwood, one that rolls right through downtown and ends at City Hall. I know that many police officers will not be able to march because of work or other commitments, but I would love to invite officers from around the midwest to attend. We would accept anyone on the parade that is a police officer in any district in the US. I think it's time, we show our devoted protectors where we stand with them. I will work with my ward office as to the logistics of this but I need other volunteers to help me kick this off. If you are interested, contact me at colleencgreen@yahoo.com. I am serious about this. I had 4 relatives yesterday post the rainbow colors on Facebook. I asked each of them if they had ever heard of Officer Flisk. NOT ONE. Ok, so let's do this. Looking forward the hearing from like minded people. And on that note RIP Officer Mike T.

It's messed up I even have to ask, but when I hearca life sentence- how long is that?
The life of a goldfish? The life of a rose bush? The life of s dog?

Because if I'm alive to hear a life sentence handed down, and also alive to hear that life sentence paroled, pardoned, excommunicated, or whatever word you feel-good motherfuckers have for it---- then it wasn't life.

Life means die in a box.
Non negotiable.

When you are done riding your "big city copper" horse and take stock of what's important- how many pinches are you really proud of?

#1 poster is 100% on target. No one stays in prison for life in IL. The sentence means nothing and Alverez is a useful and laughable idiot. Its not only the guns Anita, it is you and the State's inability and unwillingness to keep violent criminals in prison. You Anita are part of the problem. You are not the solution. You are a political hack and that is about it I should rather think. Who should know better than you cops. I read in here and in the news all the time how you pile on buses to go to PRB in Springfield or wherever they are having a hearing for some asshole who other assholes think should be paroled. I am sorry police lives apparently do not matter as much as hoodlums lives within some circles in this state. And when it is time for a hearing or to write a letter in PRB, get it out here. Some of us like to write PRB letters to keep assholes in prison. I have written several after reading about cases in here. It takes less than an hour to research the incident on the net and it is easy to write a cohesive letter.

Life imprisonment does NOT fit the crime.

All those saying you should get the death penalty, if you are a cop-killer are WRONG.

Forget special punishments for cop-killers. ALL killers should be given the death sentence once their case has been proven successfully. Black lives matter? Cop lives matter? NO - ALL lives matter.

(If it was just someone's Grandma or Grandpa - you would want justice. Someone's teen-age son or daughter - you would want justice. Your spouse - you would want justice.)

Illinois, by not having the death penalty AND having a bad parole review board, make it a great state for criminals to avoid justice and serve easy and abbreviated punishments.

The parole board is a shining example of cloutocracy and Good Ol' Boy politics in action.

Ordinary people would be better-suited on parole boards than some clouted asshole who has been rubbing elbows with other hack politicians all his (or her) career and now his this board is "a nice sweetener" to their pension.

Next case.

The death penalty should BE and should have Been on a referendum ballot. These Governors work for US!! No Governor should take his personal feelings and decide for all the people such an important decision. If the majority in Illinois wants a Death penalty then we should have it. Ryan proved his spineless opinion when he released inmates early and pardoned guilty fucks. Rauner needs to put this on a ballot and he will see what the majority wants. These animals have no fear of killing anyone or committing any crime at all because our justice system is a paper tiger, (unless you are a Police Officer)

To; 6/28 08:29 - The judge that rebuked the officers from Glenview & CPD is Judge Haberkorn, daughter of a retired CPD chief of detectives and later chief of police in Oak Lawn. Lately, it seems that police relatives/spouses have been making some strange decisions when it comes to "cop killers" and other police matters.

We see a retired cop on the parole board and think we can breathe a little easier knowing a retired cop is certain to be a NO vote for parole of a cop killer. How does this moron Shelton live with himself? He claims to have worn the uniform for 24 years and then votes to free a police murderer. Unbelievable. But then, I recall a PO in 024 who testified for the defense for a guy who was charged in the killing of an 024 tactical officer in 1986. The guy was pulled from that district instantly because of all the death threats. There are knuckleheads among us.
