Outrageous

  • Eighteen uniformed Chicago police officers were headed to Springfield on Thursday to attend parole hearings for three convicted cop killers.

WBBM Newsradio [...] reports the officers planned to present a silent but visible opposition to early release for three men serving lengthy prison terms for killing police officers in the 1970s.

In 1973, 36-year-old tactical officer Edward Barron was trying to stop a man who matched the description of a suspect from a recent robbery, when Joseph Bigsby shot Barron in the head, killing him.

[Bigsby], now 57, was sentenced to 200 years in prison, and has previously been denied parole.
  • Earlier today, a major slap to the face of the entire Law Enforcement community quietly occurred when the Illinois Parole Board voted 8 to 7 to parole convicted cop killer, Joseph Bigsby.

It was after committing a set of robberies, which netted less than $5, in September of 1973 that Chicago Patrol Officer Edward Barron was shot and killed by Bigsby. Originally convicted and sentenced to over 270 years in prison, this cop killer will now be released.
And according to a few e-mails, some Northwestern people made the case for this piece of filth - the same university types who got a few murderers released and railroaded an innocent man.

UPDATE: The name error was Channel 2's, not SCC.  We've bracketed the error by the always brilliant "fact checking" media.

Here is something REALLY outrageous and everyone should take note!

In watching the verdict come down on the Boston Marathon Bomber, Fox Cable News mentioned that he first praised Allah and then gave his apology to the victims.

When reporting the same story, Channel 7(ABC) conveniently left Allah out as did Channel 9(WGN).

Surprisingly, the Sun-Times coverage did mention he praised Allah first. (I was surprised on that one to be honest.)

So, if you are watching the News on TV, make sure you tune in the right one, and tune out those who are too "politically correct" to report the facts.

And to the Media Trolls that read this Blog, don't filter the News and don't leave out key facts.

The media in this city is totally in the bag, except for a very few exceptions.

Another recent example is the video of Rahm being booed at the Hawks Rally. Every major outlet that posted video on the net seemed to have edited the boo's to where you could hardly hear them, as though it was only a few in the crowd.

I was there. It wasn't a low intensity booing of a few thousand people. It was loud! It sounded as though 65,000 people were booing. There is no way the noice could be picked up as low as I heard in the videos posted. They were doctored.

Be very skepticle of what you read and hear in the local media.

Parole pondered for killer of California man buried alive
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Gov. Jerry Brown was deciding Friday whether to block parole for the killer of a developmentally disabled California man...
Brown has until midnight to decide whether to release the killer, 52-year-old David Weidert, or block the parole already granted by a state panel ....sentenced to life in prison for a killing in 1980 The victim's family and five state lawmakers are calling on Brown to reverse the parole board decision in what they say is a particularly heinous crime!
Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims and the California State Sheriffs' Association also urged revocation of the parole.

In Illinois Edward L. Barron's cop killer Joseph Bigsby walks a free man because of a lack of law enforcement officials speaking out against this Illinois Parole Board'd decision!

Hmmm!

Retired Sgt/Officer Shelton is a traitor. How dare he release a killer.

Even McCarthy was pissed.

'Among the critics is Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy, who released a statement calling the decision "incomprehensible."

"Today's decision is an affront to the entire law enforcement community, but especially to the dedicated men and women of the Chicago Police Department," McCarthy said. "I am extremely disappointed in today's ruling and believe it to be an absolute travesty."

The only good news today is escaped convict, Richard Matt was shot and killed by a police officer. The ONLY good news.

I remember doing a T-stop on 47th just east of Cicero, this was about 8 years ago. I stopped the car-99 on days- thinking the two broads I had stopped, just bought dope.

I removed the driver and placed her in handcuffs, as WE should always do, and a car pulled up behind me.

Using my prisoner as cover (so what!) I brought her towards back seat of my squad and asked the driver of that car verbatim, "What's up guy." His response was, "I'm retired Police, I saw you alone, so I thought I'd back you up."

Is there anything better than you can ask for?

He was NEVER a "Policeman" therefore, he had absolutely
no care for Policemen or their concerns. It became even more
manifest as he was directed on which rungs in the ladder of clout
to grab hold to as he made rank.

>Snicker!<

Yeah... And when he suddenly "got ol' time religion" when his clout
had him plugged in at IAD? (Shielding from the 002 Corruption Blow-Back)
Ol' Cholly tried to position himself as an apt and able "police administrator"
by issuing a shit-ton of zero tolerance-rules are rules-I Charles Williams will
personally chain you blue shirts to a post and lash you bloody for any real/
perceived rule/G.O. infraction.

There went that bullshit...

Hoes runnin' da church with Williams at IAD.
More so when he was running Patrol...

Hiya Cholly!
You little hater, you!

Yup...
There are still some of us around who remember
you and the shit you pulled. Some of us even got
to rub up against you REAL up-close and personal like.

Cholly as Superintendent?
What's he gonna do?
Issue a "zero tolerance" disciplinary initiative
against Patrol for exercising self-preservationist,
by the numbers Policing in this anti-Police climate?

Williams was NEVER content to assume an even
basic level of competency in the blue-shirt ranks
on this job. He would freely and openly voice his
disdain toward the men and women who make this
damned thing go.

How comforting to know that if I am killed in the line of duty, my murderer will be free while my wife is in still in her 50s and my kids are in their 20s. Makes me really want to continue to put my life on the line for this city.

He served 41 years...is your wife 10 years old?

The officer's family moved out of Chicago after the murder. They had too many memories and all bad ones in Chicago. Bigsby not only took the officer's life, he ruined a family forever. The daughter is in her 50's now and is still effected by her father's murder.

Didn't the family get a chance to come to Springfield to voice an opinion? I know they live in Tennessee now. I would not object at all if CPD Memorial funds and/or FOP funds were used to fly one or more family members to Springfield in cases like this.

They moved out of state, the least we can do is pay for their air fare to come back for these hearings if they are willing. The family needs to be heard. If a plane ticket is what it costs us, so be it.

That could be any one of us in that grave.

"I oppose the death penalty but (in my opinion) 1st Degree murder should NEVER offer any chance at parole. Especially if the victim was one of the good guys... cop, fireman, EMT, teacher, nurse, child.... "

News flash --- we're all good guys asshat and you're life isn't worth more than mine - American citizen not a cop, fireman, EMT, teacher, nurse, child

How could a retired Police Sgt. vote YES to Paroling this convict..Oh, a Quinn appointee in 2012, retired ater 23 years in Champaign PD, Donald Shelton, dumped his police job early for this political $85,000.00 a year position....A disgrace to law enforcement and that poor department, where he worked.....His comments in the tribune made me ill.."he was crying over the decision" , my ass.....6 others said NO! you were the releaseing vote pal...
