- There are a lot of reasons why police officers miss court dates. Often, it's an innocent explanation.
But as Dane Placko investigates, a review of records by FOX 32 and the Better Government Association suggests that sometimes cops miss court dates because they want the case to disappear.
Sure, because we don't get paid overtime to appear in court. And we don't get deviated and suspended when we fail to appear without a valid excuse signed off on by a sergeant and a lieutenant.

They both spent the night in the 12th District lockup.
Really? The 012 District has a lockup? And not just any lockup - but a male AND female lockup?

When they reported the sentencing of the Boston Marathon Bomber, FOX Cable News said that he first praised Allah and then gave an apology to the victims. Channel 9(WGN) and Channel 7(ABC) left out that key fact. WHY?
I think most of the Chicago TV media is a waste of time and hardly watch it except for the Weather and they can't even get that right either most of the time.

just an FYI, when we were first planning on forming a union the Teamsters were BEGGING US to join them and not another union. I remember the teamsters handing out free shirts and hats to coppers. I also remember them throwing us free informational dinners. They were trying as hard as they possibly could to get cpd as part of the teamsters. Trust me, we wont have to beg to get into the teamsters... They would love to have us. Also yeah, I would like the teamsters also... they know how to negotiate and they know how to actually force the hand of the city to get what they want.. They are actual professionals, not the jokes we have now. Man, looking back after all the free stuff the teamsters were giving us and all the attention they showed us I wish we would have went with them... instead now we have the FLOP.. bunch of loudmouth know it all coppers who want to play politician and hide from being on the street. If someone can get the muster to do so all you have to do is talk to the teamsters and have an informational session at the teamsters hall or a large place to get the ball rolling.. then someone puts it up for a vote and voila, we switch. There is no "contract" with any of us blue shirts with the FOP. If we all want out we can get out and join the teamsters if they set up shop.
Ugh excuse me? The lockup in 012 is and never has been in operation. The new 012 th district MALE lockup has never been in use. When we moved here attempts to have it opened were denied.

The taxpayers should appreciate it if we do not attend court, it is saving them money by us not collecting overtime. Furthermore, most felony cases are thrown out and every time I attend misdemeanor court, the case is either dismissed or xpj/bfsol if offenders choose to be a no show. If there isn't a penalty for the criminal not showing up, who should fucking care whether we do? Cook County court system equals a mockery of life. Don't get me started on those liberal cocksuckers on the parole board.

Unless my PC hinges on it, I stopped going years ago. The Judges there have made it perfectly clear that my efforts are not appreciated.

I've had one deviation in my lowly 10 years on and it was traffic court. No more tickets unless suspended/revoked. You learn quickly. Sometimes you just don't fucking feel line getting up after going to bed at 3am. How do you feel on 3 hours sleep Dane? You bitch.

They should look into how many officers are unnecessarily notified to attend court. How many millions would they save? My Sgt gets notified for approving the case? For what? No reason for them to be there. Paid them 3 hours OT? To show up and say yah all I did was approve the case. Thanks
Hey Dean Fucko, if you want a real story, go sit in traffic court or misdimeanor court and watch how many cases are tossed out through no wrongdoing from the police. In traffic court, people with no DL's getting no fines, or having some charges tossed (I have never seen a seatbelt ticket turn into a conviction/fine), or go to misdimeanor court and watch the parade of People get their cases SOL'd or nollied. My favorite is the BF/SOL. People who aren't held responsible for their screw-ups are going to continue doing it, because there are no consequences any more.

You want to take money out of my pocket? Head down to the Dirksen building for your junior g-man badge. You probably have never hit box one in a part one felony. Going to court is my side job and I hustle to get paid. Go get a job at a HQ's.
If you miss a court date for an arrest you made for a crime against you (ie. Resisting, obstructing, battery, etc...), the running total is $5000 in punitive damages.
Traffic court is a total waste of time. Why the hell do I have to show up when the judge gives these assholes 3, 4, 5, different court dates just to do their community service?!?! I am not testifing at this point, so why am I there?

Maybe you are no different than the slimy politicians that line there pockets in questionable ways with tax dollars.
