Pizza was served.
It felt very errie. No questions from anyone as everyone sat quiet knowing they were being lied to. Then came the SB777 discussion. Clearly this has been brought by Rahm. Dean talked about "the casino bill"; but there still is not a bill written or in Committee at the State capitol. Lastly, one guy called Dean on how the board operates under, "Mumm is the word". He said it was the last two minutes of the "Special Board meeting" in May which is available on the fop website. Funny thing is, a few of us tried signing up to the member's section today and we were all denied access. We pay our dues and this is how we get treated?
Was there blood?
We hope so...
I went expecting the worst and came back feeling good. They answered all the questions. A couple of morons asked question at the end. These I guess are the guys who lost the last election. And I can see why. The dumber the questions the faster the crowd left.
How about Dean's head? At last nights meeting an officer goes to the mike at the end of the meeting and rips Dean for comments made at the special board meeting regarding SB 777. The officer said during the vote one several of the board members stated "don't tell the membership until its over" . What the F***!, I thought these guys worked for us?

That was a great statement by the PO and it was followed up by a unit rep requesting that Dean have the membership vote on who would be the PO rep on the Casino Board. Dean replied that he wouldn't want a beat officer having that job...Dean want's to appoint someone himself to grow his empire....Can you say "big problem"... I guess we shouldn't trust a disability person as a FOP president.
He actually said "I don't want a beat copper"..... what a PhD misguided soul.

Surprised anybody goes since there's no beer and pizza anymore.
I heard they started with a debate as to whether they should start ordering pizza from a different location for meetings. After it was decided that they'll continue ordering from the current establishment, Dean thanked everyone for coming and headed home.
It was a pretty successful meeting in the boards opinion.
How many pizzas were inhaled?
Have the pairings for next year's easter egg hunt been announced?

6/18. 03:50-For several months have tried to log in to the member's section and also unable to access that area. When calling the office to try to get help, the response is "they're working on it." It's obvious that Dean & Co. want to keep us in the dark and feel that we should bury our head in the sand like an ostrich. Dean, may we suggest that you take the role of the ostrich because YOU DESERVE NO RESPECT FROM THE MEMBERS WHO YOU TRY TO FOOL.
As far as not having a beat officer on the imaginary casino board - since when do you make such a decision?
Your arrogance is exceeded only by the mayor.
Please return to academia where the only harm you can committ will be misinforming your students. Hopefully they will be able to see through your malarkey!!

I went to fop hall last week, asked to see Dean, receptionist said ok called his secretary and 10 minutes later I was invited in to talk to Dean! Had many pension questions, we sat for about an hour (no never met Dean before), he answered questions, gave me information if I wanted to contact madigans office for verification left his office and talked to Jim in Springfield who handles pension issues he again explained the bill to my satisfaction! Bottom line don't mob bitch go to the source, don't listen to the "changes on Friday, I heard from my third cousin twice removed that fop said!" Also noticed some threatening emails by coppers on his secretaries desk, are you insane as a copper to "stupidly" send this? Go to the source next time! Was at meeting very well controlled answered questions, the main echelon of FOP were there and answered! Save the tribal warfare nonsense for high school, then again some coppers act like they still live in moms basement and want mom to fight their battles!
Maybe the FOP could explain why they signed off on 15% of available manpower comp time thing.
Meeting was good, information was given, Dean talked explained, if you have questions go and talk to Dean,or trustees to get answers! Tired of all the lies being spread about our union! Is it the best? No! could it be better? Yes! But this is what we are dealt and talking to others who were OTJ before the union, we are in much better position! Old timers tell me you never had a weekend they changed your off days weekly if they felt like it, time on books was a joke, you want day off drawer opened you err ahh you know the rest!
*** Pay Attention ***
In order to sign up for the FOP website, you will need your membership card that is mailed to you with the FOP handbook every year. Your membership card has your membership number and you need this number for verification that you are an FOP member. If you cant find your card or are having problems signing in then call the hall.

Umm, no offense dip shit, but I don't want a a "beat copper" on this either. Let's put a lawyer of some sort who knows what the fuck they're doing so we don't get fucked out of our pension.
All this hate from coppers, even if its justified, will make Dean and the FOP hate the membership more. Now they will really treat the membership like garbage. Not looking forward to calling that place if I have to.

The meeting was all about pensions. So, needless to say the retirees pension board rep, Ken Hauser, did not show up. He would be forced to show his ignorance of pension issues. Every time I ask him something about pensions he gave me the wrong answer. I always checked his answers. How can this guy keep getting elected? Look how many years on the pension board and he always answers wrong. Oh the city loves pension board reps like him. He's a dummy. Wait til he finds out he missed good pizza.
How about the fishing tournament? The party at Santa's Village? You know, the important stuff. The stuff an FOP elected official gets paid Captain's pay to keep running smoothly.
There's beer and pizza. Instead of whining you should go to a meeting

So, WHAT INFORMATION DID YOU GET? Is it a secret, or could you be helpful and SHARE it?
The City and the FOP are pinning their hopes for pension fund solvency on the coming of a casino. But that is at least 3 (probably 6) years away, if ever.
Casinos are not the cash machines they once were. Look at Atlantic City and Vegas. And the drain-off from video poker machines.
So Dean say he doesn't want a beat copper on the casino board. You mean a beat copper with no business, financial or legal training beyond the Academy on the board? Maybe if one has an MBA. But just pluck some blue shirt out of a beatcar and put him on an executive board??No thanks.

I wish more coppers would go to the meetings. It's pretty embarrassing.

Dean Angelo was a no-show at the northside retiree luncheon at Biagio's on Wednesday.
He probably heard that a lot of people there wanted to ask him questions.

What Dean meant was that he didn't want nobody in there that nobody knows. And since most beat cops are nobodies there shouldn't be any of them in there. Only somebody that somebody can vouch for. Somebody that somebody knows. You know? Like usual. An in the know guy. Somebody who will report back and do the right thing and won't rock the boat. Somebodies' kid or cousin or wife. Right, because lawyers never fuck us out of anything. I'd rather have a two year beat cop in there who is reasonably intelligent and would never ever lie, cheat, steal or embezzle. A beat cop too new and honest to connive and thieve. One who is scrupulously honest and believes it all should be legit but one who is smart enough to tell if it is not.
Ken Hauser and family have quite a history as public employees. Brother Tim light duty loafer, more time on the medical than working. brother Frank disgraced former Superintendant of Soldier field. I understand he went to jail for sending a park district crew out to rosemont with district equipment to line the field for a soccer .Word is he pocketed the money. Wonder if Ken should be associating with a known felon.
Dean talks total bulls***. He claims he is saving all this money, but lets do the math. He has removed two trustees that were elected by the membership and quietly replaced them with someone who is loyal to him. He put Bill Nolan back on the board as immediate past president and is paying him $600 per month. He now has 8 people instead of 7 working inside because no one knows what they are doing. John Dineen is even on the payroll also making $600 per month for being the Lodge Parliamentarian. This has never been a paid position in the Fop until Dean. I have been told that the new law firm is paid over $60,000 per month. Didn't Dean tell us at his first meeting that the law firm was only going to cost $10,000 per month. Nice to take care of your friends with our money!

That would be the unit rep from 014. I think the name is Merck? We are probably the only union who video's their meetings. Why would we do this? The only one who is watching these video's is City hall. Dean and Rahm have popcorn night together.

They tape the meeting so the hair gels can watch it on-line because they are too lazy to get their ass to a meeting. I can remember 1000 coppers at the plumbers hall in the mid 80's.
