Crime is Down When Police are Up

Garry's make-or-break weekend is on pace to match all the other weekends this year, so you know that the only comparison will be how much less it was than last year's bloodbath:
  • At least four people, including a teenager, were killed and another 10 people were wounded across Chicago as the Fourth of July weekend got underway.
Carrying this forward and basing our conclusion on the observable evidence at hand, we can state without reservation that if there are more police on the streets, there is less crime.

All together now....
  • DUH!
Hey Rahm, we just solved your crime problem. Now solve our pension problem.

Glad Saturday appears to be quiet with no Jihadi Outbursts. I hope the trend continues.

Not a Chicagoan:

Let me guess, the 12 hour days, all hands on deck started about 0600 on Friday?

12 hour plan was the biggest farce. 3rd watch did nothing, not even assist when needed. All it did was tired out officers and give a little overtime

Typical short term gains. No way this can be sustainable. So x are not shot at this weekend, just means that x+y will be shot at next week.

...we can state without reservation that if there are more police on the streets, there is less crime.

And the result?

Hire more police?

Or go to 12 shifts?

Take a guess at which one is.....

1)Cheaper to implement.

2)Easier and faster to accomplish.

3)Will give Rahm hours of sound bites in which you can hear him take credit for single handedly slashing the crime rate.

This morning I overheard a woman telling a workmate that she had to go over to Navy Pier tpick-up her kids because of shootings occuring in the pier.

If this is true, it is remarkable those doing the shootings were not apprehended. These two were also talking amongst themselves that the same thing happened last year. And, if that is true, it is just one more indication we are all on our own, government refuses or is so insolvent it cannont protect the citizens.

Per the Trib:

"A man was shot downtown about 10 p.m. Saturday near where thousands of people had gathered to watch the fireworks from Navy Pier. The man, in his late teens, lay in a pool of blood outside a condominium building in the 200 block of East Ohio about 10 p.m. and a shell casing was found nearby."

Did crime scene clean up nice with CFD wash down? Don't want Thurston Howell III's spaniel wolfhound to step on Pookie's DNA...

1st and 2nd watch work 12 hour days in the district. 3rd watch work 12 hour days in the dist/area during hours when most shootings are happening. Shootings go down and man power is solved! McJersey will be getting a raise and you thought he was getting fired!!

Christ hospital took in 35 "victims" just last night. What about the other trauma hospitals: Loyola, Stroger, Masonic, Sinai, Northwestern and St Francis? What are their tallies for the weekend? Looks like we may be reaching 80 ish.

It doesn't matter. Last year I don't remember a shooting downtown, right outside of Navy Pier.
That's worth at least 20 ghetto shootings.

Perception is everything.
When the headline says "boy shot at downtown fireworks festival" no one cares it coppers working time and a half in 006 had their crown cap on. Or if coppers in 011 had their tattoos covered.

Overall numbers might be down, and that's fine. But hanging your hat on that won't wipe the egg off of your face.

Shooting. Downtown. Basically at the entrance/exit of navy pier.
And thinking forward to next year, no one gives a flying fuck if the shooter is in custody, or if a gun was recovered.
It SHOULDNT HAPPEN. This city has been done for a while, but now the "no fly zones" are just coming to you.......

Well done Assholes.

Big waste of manpower and money! Dangerous too for small number P.Os in ghetto parks with tons of shitheads all around. The shitheads have rights you know. so whats the point? It also messed up coppers schedules. The kids still wake up early. Bring back the late rapids if they want a 1700 start. Who decides these schedules and assignments? The watch secretary that shouldn't exist. Put them on the street! Also, get rid of the useless/do nothing/5 hour shift/clouted/religiously inclined mission fukin teams. Even though 3rd watch didn't have to work 12 hours, they had their schedules messed with with no o.t. spread the wealth. Would rather have worked with partner 12 hours and made 2 arrests that have to work at my assigned post. bosses clueless too. The wheels are coming off.

I'm tellin ya! It was up for grabs by Navy Pier last night. The rats were out in droves! Someone Let off an M80 inside the peer, and a mob of youths ran over citizens. Thankfully, nobody was seriously hurt, except for the dude who got shot blocks from the Pier after the fireworks

Dear Black community. Please explain what killing each other is accomplishing.
Keep blaming everyone and everything but your own community.
Until you look within nothing will change.

You must first admit the problem before you can fix the problem.

So maybe this bought McGoofy another few weeks.

After hearing the news about the 7 year old being shot and then McCarthy holding a News Conference blaming Springfield - TURN IT ALL OFF.

Stop blaming everyone else and point to where the problem is. You have a father of the deceased who has been arrested 45 times???? Gang-related shooting and he is not cooperating? Guess is kid isn't worth more than a LINK card to him.

Where are the Reverends? Where are the Activists? No wait, where are just the simple people who understand about responsibility and common sense?

Stop blaming guns and start blaming a segment of society who is too clueless to try to better themselves by turning in those who are chronically destroying their neighborhood.

I can see why cops (who actually patrol these neighborhoods) are fed up and deadened in their emotions and compassion.

We're all supposed to come to aid and smother them with free food, free rent subsidies, free phones, free healthcare, and everything else? That isn't working. That type of "social remedy" should be stopped immediately.

Why not let them work for what they need to survive and maybe the violence will stop because they will have to concentrate on making a living like everyone else, instead of having so much "free time" on their hand to focus on criminal/thug life.

Spent Friday night with family. Slept for 9-10 hours and am ready for 04-JUL activities with extended family. This job is great, S/S day off group. My only complaint is that they kept us for all 8 hours on Friday, bastards. Should've let us go early. Wow, 12 hour days must suck. We'll probably enjoy festivities for 12 hours today. It will take a lot, but I'll make it. Maybe I'll throw in a slip for Monday to recoup from the weekend. You guys be safe out there and back each other up.

What a nice guy. Taking time out from your family time to post on the blog about your S/S day off. You must be a real house mouse answering phones. Why do you feel the need to slam the officers working 12 hour shifts? Then you write; " stay safe"? What a douche bag. Every once in a while there is justice when inside empty holsters are forced on the street. I can only hope your turn is soon. GFY

Here in the old 13th District sections of the 12th District it was like we'd been transported back in time...BMcC. We saw squads patrolling, 911 calls were answered within minutes and there were Park Cars and Rapids in the evenings. Yeah, we know it was an illusion, but sure made us feel a lot safer. We know it was a tough weekend for you officers, but know it was greatly appreciated.

That's not what Garry said. He told the paper the violence that continued despite all the working officers proved that more police would not stop violence. Like him or not that was a well played media move. On another note I'm glad he keeps highlighting Antonio Brown as the reason his son was killed. These babies deserve at least average parents. There is no way this 7 yr old should have been outside at 1155pm with a gang banging, low life not fit to be called a father.
