MFF Applications?
Seems the Department is asking for applicants for the so-called "Mobile Field Force."
If we recall, this was kind of a "MSF-lite." People bought their own riot gear, got some training, and were "on-call" while working in the event of a major disaster - kind of like the "Incident Teams" we still run, but with riot gear.
All we see this doing is shorting the Districts in the event of a call-out downtown.

SNAFU....!!!!
I'm gonna pull the Roger Murtaugh on this one...I'm too old for this shit.
Speaking of shortages, manpower and personel shuffling how about gang enforcement. The commander of that unit, has driven away two more sgts back to the watch who can't stand his nonsense anymore... This is just in area 2.. Just a rumor I heard.. Sure is gettin thin south these days
Does this effect VRI? I hope it doesn't. For anyone who criticizes the officers who work VRI, some of us desperately need the money.
Softball three year wonders will be falling over each other putting in for this.
You would be a fool to go for this MFF position.
Hmmmm...
Gutting Patrol then burning the remains at both ends eh?
Didn't McGarry parachute into Chicago talking shit about
there was no need for a city-wide unit to put out the fires
burning in the tribal impunity zones?
1500 Police positions unfilled then written out of the budget.
God Knows how many thousand Officers short.
And every time manpower is mentioned on the blog, Rahm's
trolls run agit-prop...
Funny when m/fers who fancy themselves smarter than anybody
else manage to outsmart themselves.
Ok, SCC can we hold a contest for the best name for the MFF?
I submit the following,
MFF= Mobile Fart Force,
Col Hanibal Smith
Hahahahahahaha!!!
Young guys will sign up because it's like special forces , dude .
"Bought their own riot gear?" And then volunteer to go to a hot spot?? What the *%^+=~<>@". Well, i hope that they deducted the cost from their income tax return!!! Well guys and gals - Be careful what you wish for -'and don't be surprised when Andy Shaw says it's another example of the "militarization" of the police.
Thank god at last!! Dummies volunteer for this and my seniority goes up every time.
I briefly perused the AMC message yesterday. In addition to the regular rigmarole of disciplinary, medical and indebtedness to the city requirements, key points that I recall are as follows:
* must purchase own riot gear
* must be willing to defer furlough if during training
* must have medical clearance
* must attend quarterly (?) training to stay "certified"
* must be willing to change DOG as needed
Now add in the fact that you will still be in patrol, humping that beat car on midnights in 003 or 005, basically waiting to be deployed if and when the need arises (civil unrest, mass arrest situations, etc.)...
ALL FOR NO EXTRA MONEY
Not one perk immediately comes to mind that would lead me to even entertain the thought of enlisting in such an abortion of a stopgap to combat Tiny Dancers out of control Chicago crime problem.
Here's the skinny for you impressionable lads (and ladies) that think this might be the dangling banana that'll finally bust you out of running from job to job to job:
You ain't leaving that busy car on that busy watch in that busy district. You may get a temporary reprieve while you go for the special "training", but you'll still be chasing calls all tour while waiting to get deployed to some incident that would've normally been handled by the manpower in the respective district in which the incident is taking place (and possibly an outside unit or 10).
This is yet another tacit admission that the CPD is woefully undermanned. They are trolling for people naïve enough to take the bait of being associated with another "elite unit". The fact is you will all be used to fill the character roles in this latest CPD Dog & Pony show. You will all then be summarily discarded once the mission, like all that came before it, accomplished absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things. And make no bones about it: you WILL be the first ones thrown under the bus when the shit hits the fan.
Don't be the scapegoat to fall for their latest reincarnation of something that can't and won't work. Don't be the cannon fodder in this day and age of antipolice sentiment and rhetoric. As BCP says "police like you have no friends".
If the collective CPD had any balls, this bullshit unit would be filled by reverse seniority.
This actually doesn't sound too bad, right about now I'll do anything to get out of the district even if it's for a little bit
Wasn't that the name of the Police Force in Mad Max*?
*The good one.
Please don't stop the VRI. We need VRI to continue.
Downtown takes priority. That only makes common sense.
Good Lord, does CPD ever do anything for the patrol guys but screw with them. I loved being the police for 33 years and still miss it at times, once the police, always the police. But thanks to this great blog and the great info, I am lost for words just hearing how the no ball bosses just work to screw with street copper without fail.
The old CPD had a few JO bosses and most of them let things go after a few days. The good old brass were a riot and made sure you were taken care of if needed. Citizens alleging BS beefs in the station were locked up or thrown on the street.
The Sgt' would go off when the guys on the 1st. watch slept tight through check off and then two days later it was forgotten.
Laughing and sense of humor was what we lived for on the street and locking up criminals.
As long as I am ranting, do not trust FOP. The US Attorney should has the boys from Roosevelt raid their office and their homes. I never heard them to ever doing anything right for the working coppers. The annointed ones got big ass checks from the city after that law suit about being denied time was filed. I seen the trustee' who got checks close to 20 K. Us street guys in patrol and in the D unit never heard anything further.
in closing, may the good Lord and St. Michael watch over all of you great people. Just don't let the shit get to your phyical and mental health. Many of us retired guys have health problem from eating on the street like dos for years, it was good !!LOL. The West side people always had us eat bar b que all summer. The old timer of the West Side, if still alive took shit in their own hands when the punks fucked with the good people or police. The friend chicken was something to live for. An always a good bottle of cognac was near for a little night cap. When us old timer encountered the white punks from the burbs with an attitude, they lost it quick. We could care less their Daddy was a Lasalle street Lawyer. We tried to avoid white hoods to keep us from kicking these assholes asses. Please good people, take care of each other and go home after your tour. And always remember, not everybody in the ghetto are pricks....more now then 20 years ago but the good people are held hostage in their home. If the baby boomer generation in the hood ever grouped up, crime would fall. My prayers are said daily for all of you.
MMF? I don't think those are the best letters to use.
Only a complete hand-job would volunteer to be a Rahm Emanuel Stormtrooper.
The line was out the door to apply for this unit!
Just another attempt by the City at getting officers to be in two places at once. They can carry the officers as being assigned to their regular district, unit etc. and also state that they have XX number of officers in the latest hocus pocus make believe unit. More cooking of the books.
Again? Keep renaming SOS.
Remember TRU Don't Do it!!
Reverse seniority
.....sort of like you are giving up your contractual rights and are agreeing to change your hours and assignment area without compensation......sort of like volunteering to bend over! Sort of.
This is so funny. What retards would do this
You mean ambulance chasers and board up services right?
I'm sure that a handful will sign up, 2 lts, 75 sgts, & 18 po's all looking for that sweet spot.
This city is not and will never be prepared for any disaster, civil, financially or natural.
Need proof?
Look who's in City Hall...again.
All of you young coppers need to think it through. This is the department grasping at straws to try to stop the violence. What incentive are they giving you to change your D.O.G. or furlough, plus go through power test, plus buy your equipment, etc. Don't do it
Disband sos, oh we screwed up ok start msf disbanded that, now let's get the "new kids on the block" into this! Great idea? Not really your reward shiity hours (changed whenever they want), day off cancelled, time due (what's that?), more lawsuits, more nonsense cr numbers, more "king boss" more anchors thrown at you when you're in deep, Not Worh It! Oh and bet you buy your own extra very expensive gear!
Lets see how many people they get considering how they dumped everyone to the ghetto after they dissolved MSF and TRU.
The city figures that there are probably between 700 and 1000 young officers with less than five years on the job. They are in shitty districts on first watch. A black hole in which they are not even noticed. Plus they get to join a cool unit. So they will sign up. It happens all of the time.
Just a continuation of doing much more with a whole lot less.
Make sure you wear those ridiculous crown caps and cover all exposed tattoos!
This is for crowd control. Nothing at all like MSF or TRU with the exception they had crowd control training. No one had to buy their equipment. This is in response to all the anti-police protests. This is to be able to mobilize 100 or so officers if we have a large and possibly violent protest. Obviously tac, gangs and Sat.teams will be mobilized too.
Keep in mind that no where in the order does it say it will be its own unit. So you very well could volunteer for MFF and still be pushing a beat car in the district until they need you. Remember, once you volunteer for something you void a lot of your contractual rights. Don't do it, you'll be sorry!!!!!!!! Another way for the department to circumvent the contract
Buy own equipment? Can I fill up the car using my visa too??
Speaking of duping police officers, no one is dumb enough to sign up for these units. It has never happened.
In reference to a lengthy retiree's post above.
You are so right about the bosses of yesteryear. They were nuts but they had balls.
Many stories here but the one I remember best was watching Russ Madia tell an inspector to get the hell out from behind HIS front desk and kicked him out of the station. And then there was the "hey, I'm on my lunch break, I'll do whatever I please" but I won't go into the details of that one.

I hope these young officers know that when the unit is disbanded they go right back to the shit districts. Ask the officers with 7-12 years and they will tell you how they treated the MSF and TRU units after they were disbanded. Do not fall for the oke doke the brass attempts to pull on the young officers. History shows do not go to a unit like msf or tru because they will dump you and treat you like shit.
For all U younger Coppers out there actually pondering this move, think about this....Those who don't learn are destined to repeat.
Talk to the TRU and MSF Coppers(U can always tell, they're still salty)and ask them about how badly The City FUCKED them for their service.
They busted their asses and The City didn't give a flying fuck about their service or what was forced upon afterward.
The City is testing the waters of the younger Coppers and are "bullish" if not ballsie to the notion that they can sell this latest bunch of BS to the Katz that haven't hit they're 5 year raise. Make The City bend over backwards in order to secure a Unit such as this.
Don't sign up to be their bitch cuz they've proven that they will most definitely accommodate fucking a Copper in the ass crack then boasting about.
Fuck them!
Mmf, sos, bfd, sol. Just rename it the 7-Ups. "The dirty trick squad that even the regular cops are afraid of. More ruthless and cunning than the criminals they're hunting. Either doing 7 years and up or getting killed are the criminal's only options."
Hey SCC this MFF unit is in preparation for the indictment of a PO and release of dash cam video showing a Chicago Police officer shooting 17 year old Laquan Mcdonald 16 times. From all accounts, it looks pretty bad for us.
Ooooh, ooooh. If I join, can I call myself an operator?

Your numbers are a little off. There are about 2,000 young officers with less then 5 years on the job.
There will be a line out the door @ VCG & Kales, of POs purchasing their Riot Gear.
There has never been a shortage of Suckers yearning to brag about how they belong to an Elite Force.

I am going to apply for it. It serves as good experience on my resume when I go on to bigger and better things. So in your world view, anyone who wants to better themselves is an idiot. It is guys like you who poison the minds of younger officers.
Lets see how many people they get considering how they dumped everyone to the ghetto after they dissolved MSF and TRU.

@@@@@@@
I'm sure almost everyone who is stuck in 003,006,005,007 on midnights... That's who would go. Say some kid has 3 years on... Likes to work but is stuck in a hole they call 003.. Can't get on any teams because if your skin is a little too fare your not getting on a team.. So stuck in one of those hell holes and yeah I'm sure they would jump pretty quick
If this were to go to reverse seniority, would the demands of buying their own riot gear and voluntary dog changes be moot since they didn't volunteer?
There will be no shortage of F O O L S signing up for this to
"escape" being burned at both ends in Patrol by Rahm and
"G A R R Y."
Don't cut your own throats to help them paper over their intentional destruction
of CPD as a viable crime fighting force.
There are no extra Police to be had to staunch the flow
of blood, shit and brains in the gutters.
We remember having deep reserves of manpower/plenty of help
on the streets. Especially on 3rd and 1st watch.
All primary beats were 10-4...
6 to 10 two-man rapids x2 (early and late)...
A half dozen or so -06 cars...
(ol' drunk-assed tact lt.hated us... "Stealing pinches from my guys."
Not at all... Just told your "guys" to go scratch when they came sniffing
around when we had something nice. "Hey! I know that guy! We've
been lookin' for his ass. Can ya bring him over to the tact office so we
can talk to him? Whaddaya mean we can sign him out after he get's CB'd?" ;^)
That aside...
There were plenty of Police to answer calls, plenty of Police to actively hunt Mistuh Badguy
and plenty of Police who did both.
We. Worked. H A R D.
Yes we were tired sometimes
but this gutting the department
out of cheapness and spite has
resulted in a tail-chase/never ending
backlog that has Policemen with their
hands on their knees and sucking wind
from being unable to catch a break.
The "new" efficiency huh?
When Rahm the prancing "banty rooster" finally runs for national
office, his biggest bragging point will be how much he cut throats
by skimping on public safety in the name of saving money when all
he did was move allocated monies from the "Police" column of the
municipal ledger to the "whatever the fuck I want" column.
Andy Shaw and the BGA wouldn't say shit in spite of having a mouthful of it.
Calling all hair gels, calling all hair gels.
Start making telephone calls if you want in MFF
I gathered all my paperwork over the weekend. Even had my doctor do a physical. All set for my new unit and then, I was told that I couldn't get my MFF tattoo anywhere that it would be visible to the public. Screw that! I'm staying on my foot post in 001 on 2nd watch!
Does this effect VRI? I hope it doesn't. For anyone who criticizes the officers who work VRI, some of us desperately need the money.

One word, Mr. Desperate: "BUDGET"
At least when chief Mauer put a group like this together, he added that minimum height was 6'4. No one fucked with that crowd control group at TABD.
Who wants to sign up for this???? Not worth it!
I can't wait to build up my resume by being an elite MFF specialist! Since a visible tattoo is forbidden, I will get a tramp stamp saying "MFF'S FINEST." I will wear the riot gear every day while working out in order to properly train. I will wear sweet half-shirts at the bar showing off the guns and my bad-ass tattoo. Screw the rest of you, I will be a force to be reckoned with. Signed, P.O. King Rubber the Douche.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I was in a citywide unit when Ruaa Media ran a watch. I loved busting his balls and he loved it. I got him good one time and he threw a non electric typewriter threw a window of the old 013 by the desk at mee and my squad. I lughed for a week. Russ could care less for bull shit rules and the watch would kill for him, lol. His kind will live with me till the end. Many like them when they were around or in a gin mill. If you had to transport them home on the 1 st watch the next time they seen you, you were taken care of.
Wish I had a dollar for everytime I got a boss good in good humor, they paid me back big when they could, lol.
I think these manic sgt' and above for the most part are just plain scared and never where the police.
May the old bosses from the WW II and Korean war generation who have since passed, Gof speed and thanks for giving me a ride of a lifetime, your kind shall never wear a captains or a gold star again. But you guys out there make your own fun, it makes for a healthy bowel movement, Keep you spirit high, fuck the no nothing brass of today' CPD. Us retired guys know you are the best in L.E.
they had 2 units and burned them, then sat teams were for call outs , what do they do? A lot of tact teams around, for ?
The officers in msf were good officers worked for the bosses and as their reward they were offered to pick 3 shit south side districts and landed in one with no chance to move for months and/or year(s). Just as them.....
am going to apply for it. It serves as good experience on my resume when I go on to bigger and better things. So in your world view, anyone who wants to better themselves is an idiot. It is guys like you who poison the minds of younger officers.
I hope this comment is a joke.
Mutha F*cking Fools
WHAT NO SPECIAL PATCH TO WEAR??? Last time they tried this they at least offered a special designator for your shirt. Now how will everyone know your special?
The job description is too vague. No thanks on this.
MSF was better than the useless morons in TRU
leave 007 alone fool!WE HAVE GOOD BOSSES!

EEEEYAAAAHAHAHAHAHA!
Any copper stupid enough to sign up up for
this deserves a worse ass-fucking than the
guys from TRU and MSF got.
Rahm would pause from stroking himself with
McOutOfIdeas just long enough to cream his tutu
if he could find 500 to 1000 slick-sleeves who think
by signing up for this latest "citywide" ass-pull, that
they will be allowed to escape the tribal area killing
fields of 003, 004, 005, 006, 007, 010, 011, 015 and 025.
Talk to the TRU and MSF guys and ask them how it worked out
with being disbanded, exiled to districts far from where they live
and having the Recognized Vacancy door padlocked shut to
hold them hostage and to keep them from escaping/bidding back
to districts closer to home.
It was no secret that there were exempts trolling the blog and labeling
as "lazy work dodging dogs" anybody who was trying to counsel those
officers against biting on the Department's donkey-dung "sweeteners" to
entice them into signing up.
We'll say it this last time...
Rahm and G A R R Y have no answers for the savagery
and butchery on Chicago's streets other than continuing
burning Policemen at both ends for the sake of sheer
political spite and utter Fuckery.
Appreciate yourselves and give yourselves more credit
than they ever will...
Do.
Not.
Sign.
Up.
Now keep Policing like you have no friends.

Get a tattoo. But make sure it is the temporary type.
How many times are these fucking idiots at headquarters gonna try to reinvent the wheel?
Is the dept bringing back Lt Ritchie Scotchbreath as commander of the unit? If so, I'm in!!
Hey!
You bitter, old DOGS stop poisoning these younger officers
minds about MFF!
They're going to be the ELITE of CPD!
Then you bitter old dogs will be crying and complaining
about how GOOD they have it!
Now go generate some activity.

Until they get it right.
Talk to the TRU and MSF Coppers(U can always tell, they're still salty)and ask them about how badly The City FUCKED them for their service...
You would think...but in my district some of the same guys who got fucked by TRU/MSF are applying.
I remember what it's like to be a young & hungry PO. There's are only so many BabyDaddy, and BabyMommma domestics you can answer before you get sick of the shit. You want something different. You just do. For me, that something different, came in the form of the pissy, smelly projects of Public Housing South. Loved my time there. Worked with some of the finest PO's & Bosses I've ever known. (R.I.P. to the old 715)
I'd never dissuade any young PO from doing something other than beat car shit. Especially, if it offers him/her a chance to see a watch other than 1st or 3rd, for the first 8 years of his/her career. If in the end they get fucked, that too will be part of their professional experience.
