No-lympics for Boston
- It sounds impossible, but it's true. The Democrat mayor of Boston has ended his application for the Olympics because...of concerns that taxpayers would have to foot too high a bill for it.
The mayor of Boston, Martin J. Walsh ... distanced himself from the bid completely. At a dramatic, hastily arranged news conference, he announced that if the U.S.O.C. demanded that he sign a host city contract by the end of the day Monday, he would not do so, acknowledging that this would kill Boston’s bid for the Games. He said he had wanted more time to conduct his due diligence on the guarantees required and a full review of a risk and mitigation package proposed last week.
“I cannot commit to putting the taxpayers at risk,” the mayor declared. “If committing to signing a guarantee today is what’s required to move forward, then Boston is no longer pursuing the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.”
If only we had had a mayor who thought like this a few years ago, Chicago would only be 25 years from complete bankruptcy instead of 15.

Chicago has a sitting president, his famous wife and the international diplomat, Valarie Jarrett boosting it for the Olympics and still the city lost out.

Please check Mayor Walsh carefully. He can't be a Democrat. Is he a closet Republican? I do know about coming out of closets.

Who watches these shows anymore? They are not sports. They are hours of soap opera interspersed with a few minutes of actual sports action. I really do not care if little Johnny grew up with a transgendered father, or Suzie and her mother were homeless (not said, because mommy and her boyfriend drank up the check). Show them competing, and show the people from the other 60 countries too. Show the best of the best in action.

Smart person! How much did Chicago lose? How many billions gone like vapor? Why are the criminals from daleyinc not in prison? Who at our pension fund allowed the looting of over 60 million of our pension dollars to be given freely to DV urban ventures? (daley Vanecko) all the money is lost and the pension peop;le that gave away "our money" are still there! Is a federal investigation into these kind of deals being done?
Rahm you lost, stop doing all the frilly things until you pay pension bills due that would be "change we could believe in!"

Marty Walsh and the Olympics Commission caved in to the total rejection of Olympics 2024 by the people of the city and the surrounding metropolitan area. He couldn't do otherwise and have a second term. Makes me happy.
Dick Daley was more concerned about his legacy and stuffing his deep pocket cronies. No worries regarding the tax paying citizens.
Good for him....surprised Rahm isn't calling and offering to sign the letter and pay for them...of course while blaming PD, FD, and the teachers for the city being broke....

In the news today there were reports on the heavily polluted waters that Olympic swimming competition is being held in. Human waste, viruses, foul bacteria. The sewers of Brazil are many open ditches with human waste and industrial waste and they flow right into where these athletes are swimming. Many are there practicing and going in the hospital from contaminated waters. Private testing is finding all sorts of bacteria, viruses and human waste. The Rio authorities state "There is nothing wrong, the water is fine." They hired Baghdad Bob for that.
As to the 8,000 homicides a year, the mayor of Rio said "But they do not kill tourists!" There were a total of 50,108 murders in Brazil in 2012. 8,000 in Rio... Makes us look real good.
