We (current retirees) will likely be OK. Those who retire in 10 - 20 years don't have such a rosie outlook. Rahm is doing all he can to screw the younger employees out of a pension. He wants to get out of the pension business and also health insurance. His brother helped write the Affordable Care Ace. (Obamacare) That was Zeke Emanuel.
The best thing to do, in my opinion, is to send a hundred or whatever you can afford to Attorney Clinton Krislov. He is fighting the City in court to prevent Rahm from cutting pensions. He is the only one doing anything. Remember the Korshak Agreement? That was all Krislov. Krislov had that case and won it for us. The Pension Board is supposed to be our representative. They do little of that. And Hauser isn't worth a shit as a trustee. I send Krislov a C-Note twice a year.
If it helps save our pension it is worth it.

Andy Shaw and Sheriff Tom Dart are best pals. How that Toupee wearing clown ever got a law enforcement job is beyond belief. Now he is being sued by Backpage who is worth over a billion dollars. Dart has cost taxpayers millions in legal fees with his grandstanding nonsense and his puppet Shaw says nothing..
Another best friend has to be Kass...
Kass who has attacked every politician (other than Dart), mobster, corporations etc.

Ignorance.
They same thing they say about racism. They fear what they don't understand. I have always said there are what 100K cops in America? 1/3 on duty at any given time. Say each cop has 3 public interactions per shift, that's 100,000 interactions per day with the public in America. You're going to have some problems with some interactions, say 1% (that's 1,000).
So either the media believes in the perfectibility of man, or they are just taking cheap shots.
Then they try to account for the simple fact that man, and man, is not perfect, population wise.
The media's solution - the problems must be systemic., i.e. systemic racism, systemic brutality, systemic theft.
Even the American Conservative magazine had an article of how police problems were systemic. I wrote a stingy criticism and, to their credit, they posted it.
But, short answer ... ignorance ... and fear.
I remember when Andy Shaw had his own (unlicensed) bed and breakfast type rooming house in Chicago that he operated.
It may still be in existence.
But at the time the City came in and wrote him up as he had no hotel license, no food license or required inspections etc.
He was at Ch. 7 at the time and refused to buy or recognize any of the requirements hotels, restaurants etc. were required to have to operate in the City.
Shortshanks,under his administration, fearful of the likelihood of retaliatory investigations and negative media publicity broadcast by Shaw on Ch. 7, left him to operate without licensing.
And now Shaw is running the BGA.

Chicago regularly vies for Murder Capital. If nothing else, that suggests that Chicago is one of the most violent cities, with one of the most violent populations to deal with.
Little wonder the police have to resort to violence more often.

Something must be done about this, too many of everybody being shot in Chicago. The rest of the State foes not have this problem. Why can't Chicago seem to get things under control when the rest of the State is basically safe? Piss-Poor Political and CPD Leadership.

Really? are you that stupid! Chicago area is the magnet for people for hundreds if not thousands of miles around. Chicago has the largest number of substance abusers, former convicts and other bust outs, way more then other parts of Illinois. Cook County Hospital is the only free hospital in the state. And, we have the largest percentage of blacks and Hispanics then in other parts of the state, the population that is most crime prone.
Simple solution. 19 Boy.
