- Investigators searched a grisly scene in Garfield Park after body parts of a child were discovered Saturday afternoon in the park's lagoon.
Police searching the Garfield Park Lagoon Saturday afternoon and evening found a child's foot, two legs, two arms and a weight.
The foot was found about 4:40 p.m. in the 200 block of McCrea Drive in Garfield Park, in the area of the Garfield Park Lagoon, said [...] a police spokesman.
The park was closed as police investigated and searched the area,[...]. The search ended for the night about 10:15 p.m., and police said it would reconvene Sunday morning.

This is nothing compared to the one in A/1 some years back (late 90's). Can't remember how they said the baby died, but Baby Daddy and Baby Mama dismembered the baby, borrowed a blender and pureed the body parts. Then dumped that in an alley in Chinatown for the stray dogs to take care of. Only thing that wouldn't blend was the spinal column, which duke said he threw out the window of his car on the Ike. Never was found. If I remember correctly, they only got nailed with concealing a death, as there was nothing left to find a cause of death.

I'm in the homestretch of a nice 20+ year career and have never been so pessimistic about the future of the city and country. Telling that the alderman's quote on this crime is that bringing "this type of nonsense to this park is unfortunate." The best he could do is "nonsense"???? I hope that consideration is given to the Officers who conducted this search and had to handle the remains of this human being. I can think back years ago to a search conducted by Officers for a small boy in the uptown. One team of officers was searching an old residential apartment building that had a lightwell in the center. Residents of that fleabag had been tossing large garbage bags into that lightwell. One of the Officers climbed out a window and waded onto that pile of trash. He took his knife and cut opened one of the black plastic bags. The face of the young boy popped out and he looked just like his son.
A night or two later when I came to work that Officer was handling the radios. He was a young man but his hands were shaking like he was a hundred years old. We talked privately for a while and he broke down telling me the story. I advised him to see the Employee Assistance Program Counselor. He was reluctant but I was able to convince him after while this was the right thing to do, not only for his sake but for his family.
I then went into the Watch Commander's Office to talk to our Captain and tell him that this Officer was deeply troubled and needed some time off to see a Counselor. To my surprise this Captain said absolutely not. I explained what the Officer had been through but that Captain said he knew all about it and he was not going to approve any time off for this purpose. I left the office fuming.
Screw this guy I thought and the next morning I called the Employee Assistance Program and the Counselor said that Watch Commander's approval was not needed and she would set up an appointment for the Officer on company time.
I left that district some time later. That Captain went onto be the Chief of a suburban department, God help them. But I heard that the Officer died at a young age of natural causes a few years later. Not that that this incident had anything to do with it, but stress causes havoc with ones health.
I am retired now, I can't remember his name, but I can still see him in that greenish light of that old station. R.I.P. Friend.

Were you in Mogadishu? If you weren't you're really disrespecting the fallen soldiers that were. It's no different than the idiots who embrace this Chiraq garbage. Being in a warzone is not something usually bragged about by the people that actually were involved in the carnage. They are a lot more quiet about details and seem to rarely mention it. I wasn't in Mogadishu but those who I know were would probably take a lot of exception to your statements.

A few years ago, we get called to a party. The neighbors want them to wrap it up and shut it off. I get there and they try to make friends so they can keep the party going. Two or three times while I'm there they ask "wanna plate?" I say no thanks 2-3 times and clear. We get called back and a white officer also shows up. They asked him if he wanted a plate and he got pissed because he thought they were trying to call him fat (which he is on the heavier side of big structured people...). They turned out to be some real scoundrels in the end. I was shocked that the PO didn't realize they were just offering the police food. There are other white guys I work with who would have known and just said thanks or no thanks. He really didn't get it.
I was on a call yesterday with some upset people from overnight guests from Tennessee who got customary, piss poor service and accommodations at a five star fleabag motel. They were decent people and non-argumentative. There was one old man with them and what he just could not understand was the lack of customer service and hospitality. One of them says how they are not used to being treated like that in Tennessee. I explain to them that's the problem and unfortunately the north is rude, nasty and crass and that I can't force a business to be any different because that's "the culture up north." They were black. I'm black. I understand their expectations because I spent a lot of time down south growing up. How they think is nothing like how we think up north.
Either way, you seem to think there was some "American culture" "a couple hundred years" ago and that it is the same. There wasn't and it aint. There are several ethnic groups here now, mostly European, that had no noteworthy population in America "a couple hundred years." The whole Sarah Palin "speak American" thing and people screaming 'Merica! and all of that is amusing at best but it will never be like that because the whole country is an immigration case study. NOBODY here is actually from here. So much for us all having the same culture.

That's want what I think he was asking. I believe the IRS and the Illinois Department of Revenue will provide them on written request. But it may be difficult like dealing with any mega-bureaucracy.
Also, in using department and other copying machines. Most have an electronic copy memory that records everything they copy. Identity theft rings buy old copying machines from insurance companies, doctor's offices and banks and mine info from those data banks.

I was in Iraq. Chicago is more dangerous to a cop, and certainly for a thug, than it was for soldiers in Iraq. That is a fact. More casualties are coming out of Chicago than came out of Iraq. That is also a fact. I think you're missing the point that comparing Chicago to a war zone is an apt description of the situation on the ground here right now.

There are different ways to obtain tax return information. Most requests can be satisfied with a computer printout of your return information called a transcript. There are times when you need an exact copy of a previously filed and processed tax return with all attachments (including Form W-2).
