I heard an Inspector telling our Sgt that we would be required to wear our stars under our vests.
If we are not wearing our stars the inspector stated he would write up our sgt. I do remember the vest manufactor instructions cleary state we are NOT to wear anything metal or stiff enought to imped a vests ablity to absorb a bullet. I guess the Capt didn't read those instructions. Can someone at FLOP tell the department that its time for sewn on stars and name tage for our blue shirits!

OFF-TOPIC: some questions for any and all Chicago LEOs from a civilian in MI -- what's the deal with the book 'Brotherhood of Corruption', and who the hell is Juan Antonio Juarez? Backstory: a relative at DePaul seems to be majoring in White Guilt and recently gave me this book, along with a copy of Brotherhood of Corruption and 'Radical Disciple: Father Pfleger, St. Sabina's Church, and the Fight for Social Justice' (LOL) by one Robert McClory. Long story short, I signed up for an NRA lifetime membership immediately after reading the Pfleger book and now want to know:
-was Juan Antonio Juarez just a Chicano gangbanger projecting his own problems (a la Freud) onto everyone else?
-what's the matter with Michael Pfleger and St. Sabina's? There's something seriously, seriously wrong with Pfleger, and he reminds me SO MUCH of Jim Jones and St. Sabina's of the Peoples Temple.

Sergeants will now be disciplined for patrolmen's uniform infractions. If you were all good at roll call, then changed to unapproved items after roll call, the sgt is liable for that if an inspector grabs you for it. Even if the sgt hasn't SEEN you since roll call, the sgt is taking the hit.
And, no, this isn't a clever bit of sarcasm. It's the Dept's latest insane policy.

Wow. Some good numbers. I like the under of 11 dead and a solid 37 wounded. I have faith in our ER people (or folks) and I am saying no officers taking dirt naps this weekend. I know its already Sunday...so I am late but I think the north side will have a stronger showing this weekend than usual. I think golf clubs will also have a prominent roll in this weekends totals. I know thats out of bounds as we are only talking lead projectiles, but golf seems to be a popular sport as of late and will make a strong showing this weekend.

This insane policy will shut down any working sgt. The only leadership that exists now are sgts that work. With this new policy, sgts will either react like the street officers and not care or become micro managers watching the officers and writing them up for every minor violation. Why must they punish the sgts? I thought that was the job of the inspectors when they are working.
