"Re-Training"
- A white, plainclothes police officer on duty in a black neighborhood who was videotaped saying, “Mike Brown deserved it” will lose about a week’s vacation and be sent to retraining because he was “taunted and abused” before losing his cool, Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy said Friday.
Three days after Mayor Rahm Emanuel publicly condemned the officer and hinted strongly that the officer would be fired, McCarthy disclosed that the punishment would be lenient.
“In this case, it’s not going to reach the Police Board. This is a case where we’re just going to discipline the officer, take some vacation days from him and send him for retraining,” McCarthy said, during a taping of the WLS-AM Radio program, “Connected to Chicago,” to be broadcast at 7 p.m. Sunday.
“The officers didn’t start that confrontation. That guy walked up while the officers were doing their job. He was not involved. Stuck his nose in and started taunting and abusing the officers. And unfortunately, the officer bit. And he lowered himself to get into an argument and a confrontation with somebody that he shouldn’t have done.”
A guy who confronts naked congressmen in the shower, sends dead fish to critics and repeatedly stabs a lectern over policy debates really has no fucking business calling for the job of a guy who "lost his cool" but still told exactly the truth of the matter - Mike Brown dug his own grave.

Most of them never wanted to be the police, just needed a job. Most would have been passed over in days when 20k people took the test. There are a few kids I'll help, but not many. They let the vets do the heavy lifting and parade around with tvbs, anovs, and contacts. I could bitch more, but what good will it do. They are the ones who have to do 20 more years, not me. Even though they are little assholes, I still have their back when the shit hits the fan, but I know they don't have mine.

The biggest difference is if you step in shit, you will most likely know how to get out of it. Let's see them get out of something. A few names come to mind, all fired and a couple went to jail. Wouldn't listen to veterans. I am retired now and never got in a bad jam because I had some old guys and old sergeants around to steer me through some treacherous water until I learned how to do it myself. Best thing: don't get in and you won't need to find a way out. I know of two guys who beat the tar out of a shithead, both fired because they fucked up. One sentence in their report different and leave out the lies and they would still be employed. Thank God it is all over.

Nope. What they did was decline to indict Wilson (appropriately in my view). That is not anywhere near the same as saying Brown "deserved" it.
If there is a benefit I will attend. I live out of state now but it would be well worth the time and cost to be able to attend and help out this Officer.

I was actually pleasantly surprised by the sup's decision. Listen, we get berated, heckled, and worse by the good citizens ever day. We must remember these people are a seeking a certain reaction to exploit and make a perfectly reasonable and non eventful stop into front page news. They win. Ain't that the truth.
The police rarely deal with the decent non-criminal element in the black community. They ate too afraid of retaliation to poke their heads out. Only when the decent citizens are vitimized do we deal with them.
Anytime a camera is recording, everyone say “Mike Brown deserved it”. They would have to send everyone to retraining...
we need to make this officer whole again in a way that is an example that we as the police stand behind him. Absolutely zero loss should be suffered by the officer. Every officer.... One dollar. M it's not the amount but a show of solidarity

If you ever get bitched at for lack of parkers at check off, do what I did. The next Sunday I wrote close to three books of parkers at a couple of churchs in the district. I heard about it of course but no one ever told me to go out and write parkers again. Smiling right now at the memory.
And hell yes, he should grieve that BS suspension!

Some of our recent hirings in the past 5-7 years have yielded many young men who were involved with the wars in Iraq and Afganistan, they have seen a lot of crap but the only way they were activated is because they were in the Reserves or Guard, now they think that the world owes them something. Have you ever been out in a bar with our new generation of coppers, they are arrogant and totally disrespectful to all. They enter into the academy and are taught by coppers with only a few years on the job, and these instructors are intimidated by the PPO's who basically rule the academy. True that they are know it alls!!!!. True that they can't seem to shout their mouths!!!! But I blame the bosses at the district level who don't put their foot up the asses of these beginners. They walk right into the WC 's office without knocking or waiting to be addressed!!!! Boy am I glad I'm retired

True Gospel brother. Pulled the pin 4 years ago and grew up in the hood. I seen this shit coming 10 years ago. The new police and other police with some time on the job should sense when the good people of the hood got their backs and they know they need the police. Please do not lump ALL black folks with the JO' of the streets. Fuck them and when you get them fucking up, lock their asses up. They cannot record while in cuffs and in a squad.

Yep, unfortunately many military and ex-military have this entitlement mentality. Many, not all. In my experience the ones who run their mouths didn't see shit. The laid back, quiet ones are usually the real deal.

The Officer expressed his 1st amendment rights. Now the keeper of the peace can't have an opinion nonetheless the correct one. Every person that's been killed by a police officer made a decision to confront rather than listen and obey the law. Shame on their dead withering body's. No tears here!! They showed the police didn't they. Guess it's better to be DEAD wrong than ALIVE right.
