Did Money Exchange Hands?

St. Anthony's Hospital is suing to stop a festival that no one wanted in Humboldt Park:
  • Saint Anthony Hospital on Friday sued to stop Riot Fest from holding this year’s concert in a park across the street from it.

The faith-based, nonprofit community hospital at 2875 W. 19th St. in Little Village is seeking a judge to issue temporary restraining order against the three-day punk rock, heavy metal, hip-hop, and rock music festival and carnival scheduled to be held Sept. 11 to 13 in Douglas Park.
  • The hospital's lawsuit points out that St. Anthony Hospital is in a legal quiet zone by city ordinance and said, "The bottom line is that Saint Anthony's patients will not be able to peacefully heal when being forced to listen to heavy metal, rap, and rock music blaring from stacked amplifiers just a few hundred feet away."
How much money did the Park District have to accept to knowing violate a city ordinance restricting noise in a delineated geographical area?

I'm surprised Mt Sinai isn't in on the lawsuit too.

I am ashamed to admit that I cannot quickly find an image of the old Chicago "QUIET ZONE" signs that used to be posted near hospitals.

Word "QUIET" on top

Large green cross in the center.

"ZONE" at the bottom.

Have photos.

Last I saw was at Addison/Central by -- whatever you call that place now.

Used to be up and down Stony Island in front of the old Illinois Central Hospital.

Had us whispering -- but, then, we were civilized back in those days, and did not wish to disturb anyone.

Come a long way, huh?

Don't forget that Mt. Sinai is also within ear shot of the park too. Why no complaint from them?

SCC, a true Chicagoan would know that the hospital is across from Douglas Park not Humboldt park? Don't get out of the North side much?

Let it go back to Humboldt park. Riot fest actually pays to play, unlike the Puerto Rican fest.

Mt Sinai? hello they are on the other side of the park too.

The Alderman were all paid a nice stack of cash. Mr. soda tax Cardenas and Mikey Scott (my daddy "was" a scammer).

Double Check on the security contract DNA info .com.

They did the RAHM public meeting scam and listened hard to the complaints and then the show must go on. Parks been closed for a week already so the fest actually rents the park longer then 3 days.

How much do you think the City would charge you if you wanted a few acres of park land for your private party/concert.

Is Riot Fets the only noise making nonsense to be permitted in the park...is it just the loudest...or is it just the whitest?

Why did they wait until now to file? They should have filed as soon as the new location was announced. No judge is going to stop the "fest" the week before.
I hope their ER can handle all the dumbass people who will be over dosing.

Will the Alderman and the Park District have to gave back the bribes? If so, will that have to pay a reasonable interest?

There might be a conflict between park district and city ordinances. Best as I can remember, you cannot enforce city ordinances on park district land. Let the judge figure it out

...and remember this one? "No Littering!"

Used to be all over town. All gone now. Remember them when I was a kid. So I put my gum wrapper in my pocket.

Gosh, when you think back, we were really pretty good kids. Took things seriously, felt that the city we lived in had something to do with us, that we were responsible for things.

That old, now-discarded concept of "right and wrong..."

SCC, a true Chicagoan would know that the hospital is across from Douglas Park not Humboldt park? Don't get out of the North side much?

And a dumbass would realize that the festival was in Humboldt Park last year and the ensuing outcry by the community led to it being evicted from Humboldt Park, thereby landing it in Douglas Park and across the street from St. Anthony's Hospital.

We've probably got more time waiting in assorted west and south side Emergency Rooms than you've got time on the job there junior. We can find our way through the labyrinthine hallways of most Chicago hospitals.

If you couldn't figure that part out (and you obviously didn't), you must be the dumbass here. And of course, an asshat.

Hey 4:00 AM, you're a fucking softball, so I'll try to keep this simple for you: Riot Fest moved to Douglas park because it was booted from Humboldt Park. That's why SCC said "a festival that no one wanted in Humboldt Park." At NO point did he say the hospital is in Humboldt Park.

And today's temperature will likely be twice your IQ. So fuck off, and shove that true Chicagoan bullshit up your ass. I really hope you didn't reproduce.

Really?

Then why do we write ANOV's in the parks?

Hthis lawsuit should get tossed out because as long as I have worked in 010 which is almost 15 yrs they always had the cinco de mayo fest in the south end of Douglas park and the band stage right at the intersection of 19 Marshall blvd and they never complained when it was their heritage celebrating. So if I were the lawyers for riot fest look that up. And shit all those marichai bands with all the horns drums guitars etc being played. The carnival rides hell even the fights that break out between the sd the Latin Kings the Danny mob johnnie mob etc are extremely loud. They are just pissed it's not Hispanic culture being celebrated. St Anthony always signs off on those fest carnivals etc. it's a bunch of bullshit

Riot Fest needs have it downtown and FULLY pay for damages. Humboldt park fields are all weeds and dirt patches where the stages and crowds were standing - no grass left. As for bringing business to the neighborhood, the crowds came, were confined within the fest grounds for the duration and left right after; meanwhile, traffic, parking and area vendors were disrupted for weeks.

What is the probably of riot fest creating gang turf wars by displacing current boundaries?

I could see this "festival" creating a bloody winter city-wide with the yuppies and hipsters who attended having no clue how it happened.

It's not the whitest lineup this year. (Snoop Dogg,Ice Cube) Those two acts will ensure all the diversity that Riot Fest can handle.

They are going to just steam-roller ahead with the thing. "Park advocate Cata Truss said she hoped the hospital would 'take a back seat' for now and see how things go.

"If there are problems that need to be addressed, we will address them."

Either there is a s__tload of noise or there isn't. In other words, no sleep for you for a few days.

Profit before patients.

Welcome Riot Festers! Enjoy the easy access to the narcotics you desire and proximity to two police stations to document your victimization if you step out into the surrounding neighborhoods. Two hospitals within walking distance to treat your injuries and Strogers is nearby in case of a near death experience. Please have your id ready because CPD will be cranking out those contact cards to please our east coast leader. As you stand in line for your RD # keep repeating yourself, "crime is down". When it's all said and done, it'll be ok. Remember to come back again...... See you next year!
