Final Conviction

  • A Cook County jury deliberated about three hours Monday before convicting the third and final defendant in the 2010 killing of off-duty Chicago police Officer Thomas Wortham IV.

Marcus Floyd faces mandatory life imprisonment after jurors found he knew Wortham was a cop.

Jurors found that prosecutors did not prove Floyd personally fired a gun but held he was still legally responsible for Wortham's killing because he joined his cousin in attempting to rob the off-duty officer. Jurors also found Floyd guilty of murder in connection with the death of his cousin, Brian Floyd, who was mortally wounded in a shootout with Wortham and his father, a retired cop who came to his son's rescue.
Hopefully, this one rots along with the rest and the Wortham family can find some small bit of closure.

Three guys from narcotics just got pulled from their houses by the Feds at about 145am... Two guys and one girl all in the same team... It's only three I've heard of not sure if anyone else from that team was picked up. My phone just started blowing up about a half hour ago.. What's with the Feds picking people up this late at night??????? This really really can't be good.. Hold tight as this is still developing

Why do I have the feeling that if the prosecutors and the judges did their job in the past, those four punks would have been safely behind bars in an Illinois Prison, and the Wortham's would never have had to bury a son?

But is prison really punishment? Gyms? free college? First rate movies? Hell, just pull his family's SSI and Link card privileges instead. How a family responsible for themselves.

from the Tribune: "...Prodded by prosecutors, Michael Santiago reluctantly testified against a fellow gang member and helped convict the 18-year-old of murder last year in the arson deaths of a woman and her 7-year-old daughter. Ever since, Santiago, 25, has been afraid for his life and the lives of his family members..."

The media is blaming Law Enforcement for the death of a 3 year old---at the hands of his 6 year old brother -- via the illegal weapon their shthead father kept unsecured.

He was prodded and reluctant to do the right thing and testify in the death of a woman and child. Much sorrow for the loss of all 3 lives---but Santiago needs to become a responsible adult and stop being a thug.

I literally stood next to Tom in Washington DC at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial that May just before he was taken from us a few months later.
Not only did he serve our nation in the military, his dedication to others was likewise evidenced by his attendance in DC to honor our nations fallen LEO's.
Since then I've seen the family at many CPD memorials and functions.
I have since and will continue to pray for them all and as SCC so aptly stated, I hope, 'the Wortham family can find some small bit of closure.'
Rest in Peace now Tom, God's got it from here.

'Horrific': Cops search for man accused of slashing Detroit emergency workers

Published October 20, 2015

"A man stabbed and slashed two Detroit emergency medical technicians early Tuesday, leaving them with "horrific" injuries before he fled the scene, a fire department official said.

"The attack happened at around 12:30 a.m., interim Fire Commissioner Eric Jones told reporters. They had responded to a 911 call and were treating a woman for an injured ankle when a man attacked one of the EMTs, he said.

"The other EMT tried to intervene and was attacked, Jones said. He said the EMTs -- a man and a woman -- suffered "horrific" wounds to their faces and hands but managed to drive to a hospital. Both required surgery and were listed in stable condition, he said.

"They came "within inches of dying," said Jones, who didn't say what type of weapon was used.

"Police are searching for the attacker. The man seemed agitated for some reason and the EMTs told him to step back and calm down before he attacked, Jones said.

"He said he is talking with the police about ways to better protect first responders."

News radio reporting that murderer of a Border Patrol agent just got sentenced to 27 years. He had used a government-provided gun that former Atty. Gen. Eric Holder put out there in "Fast And Furious" -- "the government’s operation that allowed criminals to buy weapons with the intention of tracking them. Instead, they lost about 1,400 guns, including two found where Terry was killed."

http://www.wildabouttrial.com/one_off/former-agent-testifies-at-start-of-fast-and-furious-trial/

...and previously...

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/dec/12/fast-and-furious-gun-buyer-sentenced-57-months/

For the s__t's sake, fedgov does not need to be putting more "military-grade assault weapons" out there to further fill its prisons. Enough real cases as it is...

Idiots.

Criminals.

Liable. Someone is hot on that trail, believe you me.

"But is prison really punishment?"

10/20/2015 06:55:00 AM

Worst thing in the world for some people, but scarcely noticed by the real hardheads. Some people WANT to go to the penitentiary. Think it's cool.

"Gyms?"

Basketball hoops and an iron pile.

"Free college?"

GED classes too. Supposed to offer a chance at improvement, "rehabilitation." Some are receptive and work very hard, others are impervious.

"First rate movies?"

12" TV that you pay for, if you can afford it. Get a disciplinary ticket, there it goes.

"Hell, just pull his family's SSI and Link card privileges instead."

A. Illegal. "Collective punishment."

B. LINK = maximum $194/month for one person

C. SSI = About 330 million people in the US right now. 8 million SSI recipients -- only about 2 1/2 percent of the population. Very difficult to get in most cases, can take years. You can have only $2000 in assets, and must be disabled under strict guidelines -- you get somewhat of a break if you are over 65. Alcohol/drug use has not qualified as a disability for many years now.

D. Section 8? Awarded in lotteries, held many years apart.

Everyone blows on these continually, yet they are a tiny part of the real problems in this country. Nothing, compared to the vast government waste and corruption that is hemorrhaging trillions all over the landscape. $500 million Obamadollars to train "anti-ISIS fighters" that resulted in about 60 graduates, half or more of whom probably ran like hell as soon as they got the chance.

That kind of thing. Aim the old double-barrel up a lot higher, and you might do some good.

With The National Chiefs of Police Conference at McCormick Place this week, why doesn't the F.O.P. have an informational picket to address the severe manpower shortage? Why not bring attention to our Supts peers throughout the world that Chicago is an out of control war zone plagued by near sectarian violence and at an all time manpower low?

Heh...
Ya know what's even crazier?

Here in Chicago, elected officialdom was beefing about
Paramedics wearing "intimidating" and "military-like"
ballistic vests...

Let alone anything with anti-stab/anti puncture protection...

This is the problem when ignorant, uninformed m/fers who incur no personal risk/have
no fear of possibly donating a goodly layer of their precious
epidermis to the rocky, dirty, shit strewn, broken glass studded pavement
of America's democrat-run urban centers; are allowed to have say
over the first responders who do...

Upright walking animals?
We suffer more harm from politicians.

Peace, well wishes and prayers for
the Wortham Family.

&@&@&@&&@

Here I go again... Why do u need a "police friendly" mechanic. Why tell anyone you are the police off duty.. Furthermore, why do u expect a police discount for anything?? Coppers need to have a discount for anything. They go to the tire shop and ask for a police discount.. Go to a furniture store and ask for a police discount.. Look for a painter, plumber etc and ask if they give cops a discount... Why should a hard working guy who isn't a cop give cops discounts for anything when they are off duty?? I idiots understand that they make money for their family that way right? What in the world entitles us to get discounts for anything in our personal time day to day activities?? It's just typical sippers, thinking we are more important than we really are and expecting everyone to offer them a discount.. And if they don't give a discount they are automatically bad businesses or way to high priced. I can't wait to retire from you people. I tell nobody that I'm the police when I'm off duty. We are not liked and they are not impressed by us being cops.. Don't forget, it's only a job.... We are nothing special, we only make ourselves special because we blow our own egos out. Please retirement, come faster so I can get away from this circus and especially the clown coppers

I can't think of the horror that the Worthem Family has gone thru, I was on the scene that night and I will never ever get used to hearing that a police officer has been killed. Retired Sgt. Worthem is a real hero, he reacted and killed one of these animals. I know that this family has many sleepless nights since this tragedy but he spoke in truth about ending the violence.

10/20/2015 07:52:00 PM

Like Daley's old favorite, National Conference Of Mayors, tends to be a gathering, a convocation of the anti-gun movement...

Should elected public officials be allowed to organize in "extracurricular" organizations, in many cases devoted to agreeing upon and pursuing their own agendas rather than the wishes of the residents of their towns?

Anti-gun crap from the United Nations -- "Global Initiative To Control Small Arms" sort of thing -- is working its way down to small towns here via this route. Time to bust up the cabal and "decentralize" some. Every place does not need to be exactly the same as the next. Vive le difference.

Asking for an honest mechanic, legitimate question.

Asking for a police friendly mechanic in search of a discount, tacky tacky tacky.

If we sit down for a meal on duty and get a little bit of a break, you over tip your server.

A mechanic, a plumber, an electrician etc are working people just like us, why would you pay them less than they make?

A lot of businesses hire felons, you really want them to know you are the police?

They should have a class at the academy on having some "class".
