- Federal investigators were looking at Barbara Byrd-Bennett’s role in a $40 million textbook contract that was awarded while she worked in Detroit, long before she became Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s schools chief, the Chicago Sun-Times has learned.
Byrd-Bennett, 66, faces more than seven years in prison after she pleaded guilty in Chicago earlier this month to steering $23 million in no-bid contracts to a former employer while she was CPS CEO in exchange for kickbacks.
Both the Chicago and Detroit deals contain startling similarities, interviews and public document obtained by the Sun-Times show.
This makes the picture we posted a few days ago look extremely accurate:
So who got the kickbacks? Why aren't we hearing about any of these people? Why isn't the media asking where the money went? All we're getting is this bullshit:

As we’ve said before, CPS will do everything in our power to make sure that this will not happen again, and that every possible dollar reaches our classrooms.”
We're pretty sure someone could have predicted this crime easily if they had the ear of the White House, the Clinton political apparatus and more government contacts than Chicago has rats.
In fact, you would think that someone who managed to dodge all sorts of questions about how he earned $11 million without any experience in high finance and hundreds of thousands more serving a mere 18 months on the board of Freddie Mac, would have all sorts of insight into the hiring of someone who seems to have existed solely to steer money into connected pockets.

The smartest of the political class are not stupid enough to take money in an envelope in the form of kickbacks. These idiots usually get caught and end up in jail. Of course they are taken care of if they keep their mouth shut. While serving their time their families get jobs and when they get out they usually end up with six figure jobs at McCormick Place as a tradesman . The smartest of the political class have law practices that specialize in representing people against the government ( think taxes and appeals) or insurance brokerages where they can sell insurance to business. Can be very lucrative ( Think Madigan, Daley and George Dunn). The smart ones use their influence so their families can get jobs and good government contracts ( think Madigan, Daley). They seem to pay less then fair share of property taxes as they have unusual success appealing the assessments. And, they often get insider information on great real estate bargains that will soon be announced to the rest of us ( think the condos on Halsted Street near the U of I). . Oh, and don't forget free college tuition through legislative grants, which are now gone. It seems that many of the applicants outright lied under oath on their applications so they would be eligible . Somehow Lisa Madigan( the highest law enforcement officer in the state). overlooked this, never prosecuted or made attempts to recover the money. Idiots like Barbara Byrd-Bennet do still exist. Did the mayor really know that this was a giant kick-back scheme? Who knows? But, I bet the truth does come out. I really do not think that the mayor is that stupid or corrupt.

trucking company that leases semis to the Illinois Department of Corrections is taking the vehicles back after the state failed to pay its bill because of the ongoing budget dispute between Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner and Democrats who control the legislature.
The Larson Group agreed to a six-year contract in 2010 to lease five semitrailer trucks to the prison agency for $68,000 a year. The vehicles were used by Illinois Correctional Industries, an offshoot that has inmates make a variety of products ranging from food and clothing used in prisons to dishwashing soap and Adirondack chairs sold to outside customers.
While the contract was good for another year, the company decided to walk away after the state racked up what the department says is an outstanding balance of $17,010.30.
The trucks have been parked at a warehouse in the central Illinois town of Lincoln, and the corrections agency is scheduled to turn over the vehicles Thursday, corrections spokeswoman Nicole Wilson said. The agency owns other vehicles that can be used to transport food between prison facilities, she said.
A representative for the Larson Group could not be reached for comment Tuesday.

The art of the kickback has now gone nationwide, thanks to Chicago Democrat politicians using Chicago as itheir training ground for corruption, and spreading it nationwide. Now the feds, are either too stupid, to incompetent, too dysfunctional, or on the take two, all part of this On going scheme. Everything is for sale jobs promotions early retirements with fat cat pensions, etc. etc. etc. the selling of these things which are not theirs, by politicians, but actually owned by the taxpayers, who are the last to get a fair shake and get anything legitimately from these bastards. The information that Bennett had questionable dealings in Detroit and that an investigation was going on was fairly well known. There was also investigations into her activities in Cleveland concerning inflated numbers of students riding on busses and expenditures on travel and meals. She also got huge salary bumps every year. I don't remember who reported all this info - maybe Catalyst or WBEZ, but it was on the radar and Emmanuel hired her anyway. There had to be something in it for him.
Rahm knew, he knows everything, she plead quickly knowing if not she may just "disappear" she should talk the old lady will serve some time in jail, she looks sickly guess she will deny her family everything while the "slave masters" who pulled her strings control her every move!
