- Even buying lottery tickets in Illinois is losing its charm.
With Illinois delaying payouts of more than $600 because of its budget mess, neighboring states are salivating at the chance to boost their own lottery sales. Businesses near borders, particularly in Indiana, Kentucky and Iowa, say they've already noticed a difference.
The Lottery problems stemming from Illinois' budget impasse have led to a lawsuit and come amid questions about Illinois revenues and a shake-up in lottery management.
Illinois may never recover large portions of those lottery players. Just another budget hole to fill.

Democrats are just trying to help people improve themselves.
They say people need to learn delayed gratification. It makes people less impulsive and more likely to make good choices. Unlike our politicians.
Just out of curiosity... Was anyone contacted by FOP to gauge how membership feels before such an endorsement is given publicly? I know I received no communication before seeing this on ABC's website...

How is the lottery not a completely separate fund? I own a business and there is this thing called co-mingling of funds where funds have to be separate. Not sure how the state does not understand this.
See, illinois Democrats just don't like to pay out: lottery, pensions, etc. UNLESS it is to one of their pals: Loevy, People's Law Office, some Alderman's child's law firm. The rest of you schleps can piss off.
These other solvent states laugh at us....And we smile.
I never buy a lottery ticket. Have not bought one in years. The odd of Taylor Swift coming into my house to make love to me are better than me having a winning lottery ticket.
I usually agree with most of what you say, but I have to respectfully disagree on this.
The DEMs have proposed bills to release the lottery winnings (along with gaming revenues, gas taxes, and other money that belongs to local communities). One such bill passed the IL Senate.
The Republicans have opposed such legislation and the GOP Governor, billionaire Bruce Rauner, is the one that's opposing efforts to pay people what they're owed.

The real reason the State of Illinois is not paying out the lottery winnings is because if they did they wouldn't have money to cover the welfare checks.
You DO NOT want to see what would/will happen when the State can no longer cover those.
Stock up on ammo. It will be third world ugly.
What is happening with the money collected for the lottery? The schools aren't getting it!
Bernie Madoff went to prison for scamming his clients. Madigan, Daley, Cullerton, et al have been scamming us for years, they should be charged with the RICO statute. How come the G isn't investigating them? Where are the so called investigative reporters? We should be in the streets with torches, pitchforks and axes. ♠️

FYI:For anyone considering a move to Indiana or already resides there, be aware that there is a company by the name of INRETLEO [just put it in Google] that can qualify you for HR218. You are not eligible to have it done in Illinois if you no longer live there.

Illinois can shove their lottery up their ass. Buy lottery tickets and the prick cock suckers won't pay out prizes? Bullshit. A few minutes and I am in Indiana off Indianapolis Blvd and I buy the Indiana Lottery, cheap gas, cheaper tax and not one dime goes to Illinois. That's for me.

Our pension is underfunded due to Dick Daley. They are now raising taxes to fund the statutory required amount coming due. And you think this is a bad thing?
