Kyle Scwarber hit a home run against the Cardinals. The ball hit the Budweiser sign and landed on top of the video board in the right field bleachers. Twenty years ago this would have been a routine Sheffield Ave. special. Nowadays not so many balls make it out of the park because the bleachers have been extended out over the sidewalks on both Waveland and Sheffield. In the ecstasy of the moment following the demise of the Cardinals, the Cubs marketing dept. got involved. Somebody decided to enshrine the ball in place and cover it with a plastic dome secured by calk. Since then the Mets swept the Cubs and Schwarber has fallen down in left field several times. Who needs a goat when the marketing Dept. can jinx the Cubs all by itself? Hundreds of Homers have flown over that wall in the past one hundred years and it was no big thing.

And putting a stupid plastic box over a home run ball is no big thing, either. You're really reaching, trying to blame this ball for the Cubs losing.
They were outplayed, period. They're a stellar young team, with a great coach, and they've got plenty of years ahead. (Plexiglas box, or not.)
At least I won't have to worry about putting up with insufferable Cub fans after they win the World Series for another year.
The Cubs got out pitched. Mets put up some awesome pitching. Lead-off runner on base only like 4 times. And 1 by a walk another hit by pitch.
That Schwarnere (or what ever his name is) was a butcher in left field. Looks like he has problems with his depth perception. In game 3 a misjudged fly he jumps for hits his wrist. In game 4 a ball misses his glove and hits forearm and another he dives for a ball too early and it skips by him.

Hundreds of Homers have flown over that wall in the past one hundred years and it was no big thing.
