Anyone Surprised?

  • Illinois Lottery ticket sales dropped to the lowest point yet this year in October, the same month lottery officials announced they were delaying payouts over $600 because of the state budget impasse, according to data obtained Thursday by The Associated Press.

Sales for most tickets, including instant games and Powerball, declined about $21 million — with October sales at roughly $215 million compared to September’s approximately $236 million. The high was about $260 million in March, according to data obtained in a freedom of information request.

The figures confirm what ticket vendors at gas stations, convenience marts and grocery stores have said anecdotally for weeks about people’s frustration with Illinois’ budget problems.
And since so much of these numbers are based on "estimated revenue," when the General Assembly finally get off their asses and pass a budget, the deficit will be that much larger and harder to fill.

And where's that Casino bill at anyway?

Funny how the bookies in bridgeport are more reliable when it comes to paying out winnings than the state.

This may be the end of the big jackpt games in illinois. We all know the prize money no longer exists. Back to the early '80's by playing the pick-3.

Yet these same frustrated assholes will vote back in the same morons who cause the financial ruin of this state. Democrats are the most retarded dumb shits on the planet. Name one, and I mean one, socialist plan that has worked for this state. Schools? Budget? Crime? Housing? All nanny state bullshit is coming around to bite us all in the ass.

Another joke with the Illinois lottery is on the instant scratch offs, now they continue to sell the instants even after the top prizes are claimed. Also no more lump sum payouts with the bigger winnings. Has to be paid out over a twenty year peroid. It's all a giant scam!

Did the lemmings finally smartened up? This state is going rapidly going down that "Alice in wonderland" bottomless black hole! Bruce-cullerton-madigan-prickwinkle-rahm- and the rest of crew!

On another note cousin works at crook county jail as a guard, tells me how dart has opened the door wide to let felons go after them for everything they do including lawyers lined up to file for the thugs lawsuits personally against them! Then more nonsense every 6 months the max division thugs get a "catered pizza party" if they behave somewhat, but the at crew built a kitchen to help teach thugs cooking skills, so for officer appreciation day the inmates made 100+ pizzas in the prison kitchen for the jail officers ridiculous yes, did they eat it? We you insane? Way to improve morale dart!! Pathetic, you can't o won't even support your employees dart!

I don't understand why everyone is blaming Rauner...Madigan and Cullerton propose a budget that is 4 billion (with a B) out of whack without cutting anything. All they want to do is raise our taxes. Rauner says hold it, and everyone is blaming him. Hey Mike, here's a solution, raise taxes, vote in you're budget, when Rauner veto's the budget, override his veto and you have a Democratic budget!!!! Democrats are the majority and the reason we are in this mess. Ohhhh, you don't want to get blamed for the tax raises and public outcry...it's easier to blame Rauner. Geez, are we a fucked up State or what!!!!!

The purging of the lottery draw with Linda Kollmeyer can't be helping either. An honest and transparent draw of the numbers went against the grain of how this state operates and needed to be abolished.

Exactly. Where's that Casino Dean? Remember that meeting you had where there were around 14 police officers and 1 spouse? That meeting where all the attorneys talked about how our pension was going to be funded first? Where is it? Huh? WHERE THE HELL IS IT!!!

Bottom line is that Rauner wants to take your collective bargaining rights away and replace your pension with fee heavy "financial vehicles" to benefit the money manager class.

Keep the pressure on him. If that means temporary occasional alliances with unsavory types on the Democrat side, so be it.

I do not understand how a private company can administer the lottery and get profit from its sales yet somehow the payouts are tied into the Illinois state budget. I was under the impression that the lottery company administered the whole shebang and gave Illinois the money they agreed to as profit for the schools. Why are lottery funds earmarked for payouts in the Illinois budget to begin with? If this is how it is structured then why do we need to pay millions to a company to "administer" the lottery program? The whole thing stinks.
Knowing this, I will never buy another lottery ticket here.

Just think of the windfall of ticket sales in surrounding States. I can see the billboards along the boarder. Buy your lottery tickets here we payoff. I was reading that Kentucky’s McCracken County, along Illinois’ Southern border, had a 13% in scratch-offs from July 1st through Oct. 9th.

I am so glad I live in Wyoming which has a balanced budget, a substantial surplus invested, and a fully funded State pension plan. We also believe in strict gun control; how well you can aim. We keep our handful of Democrats in a special loony preserves in Laramie, and Jackson Hole.

Correct.

Low information Dem voters will never admit it's all happened on their watch.

They will keep re-electing their criminals to run the state. It will not change.
