If this doesn't change your mind on promotions then nothing will. The exams are for people who have clout. Most people promoted have a clout connection. It's unfortunate but true. Granted a very few may score well enough to be promoted. But the exams are fixed for people in the know. I've watched the same people promoted over and over. Now as I'm nearing 30 years otj I am seeing the children of those people being promoted. Sad but true.

The exam was compromised with certain clout bitches being given the answers. You have no integrity considering you were meritorious Sgts. Not for one second do I believe you made it legit. I really wish I could retire with full benefits and move away from the transparent cesspool. Then I have to take a class on diversity training and an ethics test.
Best part of the diversity training is a six year wonder boy has to bring up he was the real police because he worked in 006 last 4 years. I just love the department.
I'm ashamed that I studied hard, put in a lot of time and missed out on family time to take this test. I received a terrible score and I'll never know what I missed or why it was wrong. Maybe some day Mrs. Wysinger can explain the errors to me in person, I'm sure I'll never see her because she will be tucked away in some office at 35th Street. The best and brightest as always! At least now I can start making plans for the best promotion you can take on this job...RETIREMENT!
If she really is number one, there needs to be an immediate investigation and an injunction filed on promoting anyone off this tainted list.

The new affirmative action. Can we get rid of the 30% merit promotions now that they found an easier to do it. And look you don't have to go through all the trouble of getting put in for the merit promotion and waiting to get into a class you don't deserve. Now you just get the 1st Deputy to give you the answers and you get to the front of the line. Imagine what had to happen for her to be #1. As in she had the test before the test. Wysinger sickens me, this department sickens me, the criminal court system is just so pathetic. No more work, let this place burn and let the west and south sides drown in blood.
On the last sergeant's exam, who exactly were the subject matter experts who were paid for their consulting expertise. I'm sure such a release would open a can of worms but many paid for the exam and have a right to know exactly who put the exam together. Who were subject matter experts have not been identified and was there an equal representation of members of the protected class to pass scrutiny in the courts? If the exam questions are directly out of the study material in black and white with no gray hues, I'm not sure how groups can be disproportionately affected.
Secondly, which current members of the C.P.D. were given an advance copy of the exam to validate this exam. Validate simply means that the exam to be given accurately depicts the duties and responsibility of a sergeant. Which exempts were given this advance screening?
Lastly, what exactly were the most "correct" answers to the written portion of the exam. What exactly were the test scorers looking for? As in past exams for those in the inside, "notify the watch commander" was just a catchy phrase but a wealth of points for those with inside knowledge from the right study groups. Specifically, what general order, special order, state law, municipal ordinance etc. were the "correct" answers derived from. Test takers paid for this exam and entered into a contract so I believe it is fitting to have those involved and the mechanics of this exam revealed providing legitimacy and promoting both fairness and equality.
All the above also applies to the most current lieutenant's exam. And for those who had inside information and did not score well, prepare that merit package and make the most appropriate phone call.

I deprived myself of a summer to study. I sat in the car during Little League and Softball games to read GO's and SO'S. I stayed sober on July 4th as to not burn brain cells.
I 'worked' VRI and parked in a 'safe' area to remember & recall orders and procedures all night. (yes, I took advantage of the time I should have been patrolling/supervising)
I am not connected/clouted and I am a white male who works Far South and lives Far North.
Maybe I'm the ChumpFool that studied hard when most of my future Lt. classmates did not have to. Maybe I'm the ChumpFool that spent over $3500.00 on study groups and materials.
Or maybe, just maybe. a few of us did make it legit. I honestly do not know the answer other than what I did for myself.
Ask my Wife, son, and daughters what I deprived us all of to score under 25.
The really amazing thing regarding merit and out and out stolen promotions is that those who got them believe with all their heart that they "earned and deserved them"

Its amazing how many ways there are to skin a cat and how many ways there is to cheat and get promoted. when subject matter experts have a secret study group of 5 students and all 5 make it in the top 25 of Sgts exam then we have to let common sense prevail. Some of those 5 barely have enough sense to wipe their butts when they take a dump yet now they are supervisors. Whatever happened to sergeants having to be an FTO before making sergeant? Remember before the sgts. Results were sent out the city had them and we're attempting to have the company re-score them. The company said no way, the scores are the scores. That showed the city did not like the way people scored....as in m-2's. This test made sure the city got their way in putting the "list" together.

What I'd rather ask your Wife, son and daughters is, was it worth it to not have daddy around for a year+? and not paying attention to them/their activities?
What I'd like to ask YOU is how many hours do you spend in traffic, and what do you spend on wear and tear + gas every year going North to South? And after deducting all that from your hourly rate, what do you REALLY make an hour? I'll bet considerably less than the $55.76 you probably make now.

It's interesting that you are degrading someone's service to our country. Also, you will never find an article that has Sedevic complaining to the Army Times (you would know this if you were on the deployment). If you are referring to him standing up for soldiers who were on their posts for 14 hours without eating daily, while the "leaders" were out screwing around with women, shopping, and shitting on the troops, then that did happen. Please get your facts straight, and oh, the Iraq invasion had not even occurred yet during this deployment, as it was the beginning of Enduring Freedom (War in Afghanistan).
Do not be ashamed for studying hard. It's not a legitimate test. Certain people get the questions and test. Wait till the list comes out and you will see the top scores were meriterous Sgts. Now keep in mind the merit Sgts were not smart enough to make SGT but they end up in the top 10? Shannigans my friends. Those that were merit Sgts and all of sudden have become rocket scientist sold out. Tell me how does it taste in your mouth? Is it warm? Is it hard? Pretty sad.

Yes there are cops who gave up a year or more of their life to study for promotional exams and they ended up scoring well enough to get promoted. But ur odds of earning the promotion that way are very slim.
Let's play here with some numbers. Lets safely estimate that 33 percent of the exam takers fit that category. Another 33 percent are given copies of the exam or given answers to the exam. The remaining 33 percent are cops who just take exam to get on the list, because they know they are going to get promoted meritoriously.

Just for personal fun, I always wanted to put certain cops on a lie box and ask them if they got the test or the answers to the test beforehand? There are many, but what say you Matthew and Maureen?

For those who cheated (the obvious ones), the only ones who will ever "respect" you are the brownosing ass kissers. P.O.'s and bosses will see you for what you are: a fraud and a cheater. Memorizing the answers to an exam does not make you smart or a leader. If anything, you will be an embarrassment to yourself and the department.
I signed up for the Lt test paid for Bernstien studied for a bit then realized why am I doing this.it is fixed,the department is mismanaged and full of corruption. I just didn't think it was worth it. I never took it. Im not the only sgt who signed up and didn't take it. I don't regret it one bit.clout and corruption rule this city always will its pathetic.

Don't know how many total off last test but appx 150 on score on last Lt exam including merit apx 185.
I'm guessing this process has always been a little shady. This time the shadiness is really in our faces.

I signed up for the Lt test paid for Bernstien studied for a bit then realized why am I doing this.it is fixed,the department is mismanaged and full of corruption. I just didn't think it was worth it. I never took it. Im not the only sgt who signed up and didn't take it. I don't regret it one bit.clout and corruption rule this city always will its pathetic.

Not really. Only budgeted for a little over 200. Not that many with close to 29 and a day.
Any truth to a Lts class, and then 30 or so added to the list of SGT's going in on the 14th
It is my understanding that a groups of F/1 NOBLE connected dollies who previ to some secret study groups were all in the top 25.
Someone needs to look into this atrocity.

Heard the Inspector General has pulled all their Department Blackberry and Emails.
With all that's going on, it's a slap in the face for the Mayor. You spend thousands of dollars to give the test and attempt to identify the best candidates. Many honestly paid to be in study groups and put forth the effort to study while others violated the rules of the department without any remorse. I hope they throw this list out and thus will truly separate the milk from the cheese.
A dumb ass will always be a dumb ass. Wait till others turn to you for leadership and assistance. It will be written all over your face and I'm going to make sure that everyone knows who cheated and who honestly earned their way.

FTO's by contract can't be forced to work 1st watch unless they volunteer for it. Who'd want to work with PPO's, so Kudos to the genuine ones who actually want to and train 'em. Its a measly bump in raise, less than Detectives. So hopefully they will get their districts of choosing, stay professional and guide the recruits in the right direction. Its a thankless job for piss extra pay, so good luck to them cause I know I wouldn't wanna do it, thank God there are some that are willing.

It's really ironic that racism again rears its ugly head. When Steve, Maureen and Chris were at the top of the list nobody screamed for investigations. Over the millennium when there were no minorities promoted resulting in a decline from 98 African American lieutenants nobody complained, BUT NOW, because African Americans have scored well in the test there is negative value attributed to the outcome. It's racist because the inference here is that African American candidates lack the intellect to do well on a test without assistance..... Sounds like sour grapes.
This is what studying will get you.....Top 25.... Studied in 3 study groups, 1 for 3 yrs....stop your bitchin' because you thought this test was going to be handed to you on a silver platter. Check your facts because #1 made Sgt legit and will make Lt. legit..... Maybe if you picked up an order and not just read it but studied it, you could be #1....A bunch of whiny haters.... After reading this SCC can you please inform me of what steps to take to have these "rumors" investigated. I am not sure where to sart, the union? attorney general? Is it even possible to investigated this?
Also, has the old list be taken down? I am sure a few Sgt's on that list would be glad to join a class action law suit.

I know one female black whose name is being thrown around went to Bernstein's, Voulgaris's study group and a small home study group, why because I studied with her. As of now I personally only know 4 of top 25 - all #2s. Some #1s did great? well it sounds like they studied, good for them. I also know some that did great on the lst sgt test and poorly on this one. It goes both ways. If they studied hard and didn't do well at least they tried their best and I feel for them but they should be proud. For those that blew it off they got what they deserved.

Her kids are at top colleges, as a matter of fact I've never heard of coppers kids doing as good as hers, but I guess she was given their tests to. Sgt. CP was a merit Sgt and now ends up #2 on the Lt's list. You really had to do some good memorizing, I mean studying. Look at number one and two. Both merit Sgts, Dumb and dumber. Yes everyone the test was not compromised. With those two leading we are doomed.

Nice try. Whether it's law school, medical school, the Chicago Police Department, or the Ippolito School of Cosmetology you will not see blacks amongst the top test scorers in a competitive setting. It's unfortunate but it is absolutely true, and it's not society's fault. If, as is being alleged, blacks comprise the majority of first one hundred ranked on this list something happened-aside from the merit promotion scheme-to cheat the rest of us out of our promotion and anyone with any knowledge of misdeeds needs to come forward now.

She scored in the 40's but was passed over until she had enough time on the job. She does test well, however it took her 3 tries to score high enough to make Lt. Third time is a charm.

This isn't about races. The majority of coppers on this department want a chance to advance based on their own ability. This opprotunity is diminished through the use of the merit process. All you have to do is look at the merit lists and you will see the same names over again. A person promoted meritoriously to Lt and then 2 years later sponsors another merit promotees. This whole system is corrupt no matter what the race of the officers involved.
Why all the fucking crying, all you guys that have time on the job know this is how it has always been....Those who are connected or have family members that were bosses are always taken care of during testing time...City Jobs have always been plagued with corruption, favoritism and nepotism!

You know a lot about SC I see. Why keep up that much with someone on this job to know their number and seniority. But let me help you get it right. SC had no interest in being a lieutenant until her children were out of her home. Additionally, the focus was not only on her family but her husband's career and life as the both of them could not adhere to the demand's of this job and be there for their children and as you see, her kids are top notch. If you knew them and were not just trolling them, you would know this. This is the first Lieutenant's test she has ever studied for. She was also offered to be put in meritoriously numerous times, including when she worked with me in the First Deputy's office. Your horns and jealousy are showing. She is one of the best Sergeant's I know and I couldn't find anyone that worked for her that would say different. I am also a Detective because of her. When she made Sergeant and went to 007, she hosted her own study group for Detectives on her own time. That first class of Dectives, the majority were from 007. Look it up hater! Oh, but she had that test too.
Your argument isn't getting any better. I can't stop laughing. She scored in the 40's her 3rd year on this job and made Detective her 4th year. Then she had kids. She worked in the two worse Districts 007 and 011 and was a Homicide Detective in Area 4. You really need to pick a different Sergeant to point at regarding this test. You are looking more and more stupid. She also went to the University of Chicago. Congratulations Sadia. I'm very proud of you and happy for you.

Really easy to investigate. Subpoena phone records and emails from the top 100 before during and after the Lt's exam was announced. Cross reference. Take statements from the top 50 and show when relationships began and what study groups they were in. Scruntize the merit Sgts who miraculously scored in the top for the Lt Exam. The phone records will show a link between the cheaters and the subject matter experts and the heavy clouted bosses. This one is too easy. We are cops catching crooks. These merit fucks who cheated are not smart. Turn over investigation to the FEDS.
there are people who are able to do well on tests given the right study material and understanding both how the tests are structured and how they are graded. my guess is that a lot of people who have never been cops at all could do quite well on these tests if they spent the time on it up front.
IMO, these kind of tests should be a prerequisite to promotion, but not the sole factor. there is a lot more to being a supervisor, manager, and leader than just scoring well on a test.

We're not saying you lack intellect, your own scores make that point better than any arguments you'll find here and it is the reason there is affirmative action and the merit promotion scheme. You cannot do what I, and generations of my family did before me, be promoted in rank order by our own score. It appears the lieutenants test process has been corrupted. No surprise there considering who is in charge.
Yes it's very simple. The high scores, the phone records, the emails, the GPS on department vehicles will prove all.
This is so embarrassing. The mayor and Sup should be pissed because these are people he trusted and they helped to compromise the test.

Know that Garry has resigned maybe they will toss out this Lt test results. This is a shame and I hope there is a thorough investigation. Please SCC keep this post active and on the minds of all the poor Sgts that are on the current list.

SCC please help us out. Sgts please contact IAD with any names or evidence concerning this corrupt Lt exam. I will be scheduled to go down on Fri to give a statement. Confidential CR # generated and no one wants to be associated with this list. The top scores have a lot of explaining to do. #1 and #2 you should get some jail time. Shame on you!!!
