More Body Cams
- The city will equip Chicago Police officers with 1,400 body cameras in a major expansion of a yearlong pilot program designed to boost oversight of cops as protesters have blasted the department for incidents such as an officer’s videotaped killing of 17-year-old Laquan McDonald.
Since January, officers have been testing 30 body cameras in the Shakespeare District on the Northwest Side.
Following a Sun-Times story last week that the slow-moving pilot program was showing promising results but was only expected to move into one more district in January, city officials have announced they will expand the program into six more police districts throughout Chicago by mid-2016.
And the Chicago connection?
- Taser International was the vendor for the first phase of the body camera program. Former police Supt. Terry Hillard is a lobbyist for Taser in Chicago, records show.
The city is now planning to test a new-generation Taser camera against other manufacturers’ devices. Then the city will select a contractor to supply the 1,400 cameras next year.
Good to see Terry is doing so well.
And here's an amazing statistic - if true:
And here's an amazing statistic - if true:
- So far this year, more than 4,600 videos have been captured on body cams, totaling more than 745 hours. No citizen complaints have been filed against officers wearing the cameras, officials said.
Not one? Sounds too good to be true. Don't get us wrong, we'd like it to be true, but zero complaints in 4,600 videos?
You know what we're thinking of doing right now? Investing a lot of money in data storage companies. Maybe the Pension Fund ought to look into that investment opportunity, too.

Might be time to buy some Taser International stock.
I actually thinks these body cams are a good idea. After all, if something isn't on video then it never happened, at least that's how it's playing out in court. Also I think it's great that people are now going to be able to see how the savages really act.
Yea I'm guessing ZERO complaints because the cops wearing them have gone completely fetal. Hard to get a CR when you only answer your jobs and take reports.
So, introduce a video which shows a controversial police shooting that starts all kinds of protests , civil unrest and calls for the cop's head and then all of a sudden we have body cams. Perfect opportunity for the opportunists to make some money in the name of police integrity while everybody is pissed at the cops .
Anyone from 14 have anything to say about the body cams?
Everybody gets what they want. Jesse gets his police policy change so he can claim that his marches resulted in this change. The connected get paid and everybody is satisfied and its business as usual. Its makes you wonder if they all got together about 3 weeks ago and went over step by step what they needed from each other as a result of the video coming out. They all came out ahead. And Rahm will look back one day and say, "Every now and then I had to take a beating. But the way I saw it, everybody takes a beating sometimes."
Hahaha this is gonna be great! My guess is once these cameras make their way to the coppers working the ghetto neighborhoods, activity for most of these coppers (the smart ones) will go down and in return crime will go up. Less interaction means less chance of getting into trouble.
DO THE MINIMUM!
Maybe there are no complaints because the cops aren't doing shit or could it be that the righteous citizens knowing they are on film act accordingly knowing they can't spin a false complaint.
It needs to be atleast 8 more times larger to full equip the entire police force--- so before roll call, don't forget your bottle, baby wipes, fresh diapers, lotion, enphamil, and baby oil... Almost forgot...body cam too
They should put body cams on politicians. Statistically we have more of a problem with politicians doing wrong than cops.
Wow, imagine that. All the hype the media and liberals stirred up about releasing the C.R.'s is exactly that. Bull shit. Put a camera on their ass and can't lie and complain. No camera- he called me the N-word, he abused me, he refused service, etc. blah blah blah
I think that it is well past the time when all elected officials wear body cameras and have cameras and microphones recording any and all of their actions related to their jobs as public servants. Why is it that these elected public officials are allowed to have closed door meetings and make backroom deals that end up benefiting their friends and families and costing taxpayers millions of dollars? These people have been able manipulate the system for years and as a result our city, county and state budgets are in shambles because these elected clowns have pilfered the coffers virtually unchecked. Anyone of these officials caught doing official public business outside of the public recording network would be in violation of a the law that would be punishable by fines or prison terms. These assholes work for us, it is time that they are held accountable for their actions.
Did a certain Sgt whose brother happens to be a Deputy named Stevie G scored high on the LT exam? I'm sure that's a rumor. No Sgt would ever cheat on a LT exam. Sgt's are our leaders. They lead.
wait, so let me get this straight...
XX----XX----XX----XX----XX----XX
(1) you cannot review the video after an incident? if that is the case, how can it be used for 'training purposes', if the very officer involved cannot review it?
(2) since they want more oversight, will they have a new category of complaint disposition, where the 'complainer' is arrested for filing a false complaint? Seems as if the people who want this should bear some responsibility of fake complaints following an officer for his entire career...
(3) CAN DOUBLE AS AN IN CAR RECORDING DEVICE??? So you cannot have any type of conversation with your partner without them eavesdropping????
XX----XX----XX----XX----XX----XX
After the cameras and these contact cards requiring receipts, fetal will be an overstatement. I'm thinking more along the lines of Embryonic or Zygotic...
It should say that there was no activity by the officers who wore them. Or where's the story that the city releases stating that complaints ruled bullshit and frivolous because the camera showed real story.
Taser stock doubled back in August, 2014 after Ferguson.
You snooze, you lose.
Don't be chumps. Anticipate this shit and profit from it.
Another chicago scam. Soon they'll jump on the carbon tax bandwagon like good little socialists. Pay, all you democrat voting biitches. Pay. You voted for this. I'll bet you even put their signs on your front lawn to show what good little machine dogs you are.
Not LEO, but I think Video can be your friend.
The FOP and friendly folks should FOIA the videos of the worst public behavior.
Show the public what you have to deal with everyday.
I'm not particularly happy about wearing a body cam but at this point fuck it. I'll wear the thing, because I can't wait to stop the first politician and stick it in his or her. Or to the citizen who is crying for a break then has to say thank you. What I do have a problem is the corruption this city just can't do without. And what I mean by this is there wasn't another supplier out there other than the former police Supt. Terry Hillard's?
Just like our media likes to say 'the Chicago connection'. If it's not the corruption of the sewer system, it's the Uber cabs. Now its Taser International and its lobbyist former police Supt. Terry Hillard.
I'll make sure all my recordings are saved indefinitely Sorry IPRA looks like you're going out of business.
Can we equip the neighborhood thugs with these body cams too? It would've been easier to solve the 9 year old's killing if it was all on video.
No more breaks for suspended revoked license. . Lock them up.
Zero complaints = Zero police work
You ever wonder if the exempts on research and development committee that approve tasers contracts are friend with Hilliard?
would it amaze you that if you match up the names of the exempts that match up with merit classes under Hilliard time as Supe?
I am also guessing you will not find a single email regarding any sales or orders in any of those departments members emails?
Terry i told you i would not forget...
Media trolls this might be to complicated so disregard.
When Angelo and his crew took the reigns of FOP the first thing they did was roll back the excesses of the City-Wide team. The salaries for the field reps went down 30k a year and about 40k for the president. That saves us over 200k a year . Someone needs to confront Donahue when he started the golden parachute salaries!
Not true! Dean said he was going to do that, but once they won only Dean reduced his salary. Field reps still get D=5 and stipends if they are on the board. They also pay Bella an extra $50,000 for part time work so now they are 8 field reps in the office, but Bella doesn't go out on shootings. John Dineen is back on the payroll in a position that has never been paid before( nice to take care of your friends). Bill Nolan is being paid as a past president which he is not untitled to. And the lawyers fees that Baum and Sigmund are receiving are at least $60,000 per month which is almost double what they paid for in house attorneys. More facts will come out next year when the election starts rumbling, but no Dean is not saving $200,000. Facts will come out, they are all in those books that John Capps carries around. Every member is untitled to see them. If they give you are hard time bring it up at the general meeting.
I bet if you buy the toy hidden cameras that came with the Robert Vaughn Man from UNCLE spy kit, you could use them with the same effect.
Hey SCC.....Deranged White man shoots up an abortion clinic in colorado, killing several people including a police officer......WHY NO POST OR DISCUSSION
Sorry but the Alderman have already taken the data storage contract part of the deal, At last check there still fighting over how to split the profits.
No complainants because there is even less citizen interaction than before
This isn't anything new. The city got a federal grant several weeks ago for 700 cameras. What did you expect, they'd all go in 14?
A video is worth a thousand words. Good move CPD.
Wish they would've piloted those things in a district like 007 or 011 (sorry guys) instead of gentrified 014. Then maybe they'd see what REALLY happens.
But as Garry would say "At the end of the day why be a shirt bird if you can't act like one on cop tube?"
Someone needs to FOIA all emails to and from cityofchicago.org and chicagopolice.org and the judge regarding anything with the arrest of the 'Poet Felon'. That might open some eyes.
i can check out my ass on cam!good deal!merit spot awaits !do u find me attractive boss?
Former Supt. Terry Hilliard and Phil Cline are doing very well.
Terry Hilliard is a lobbyist and has exclusive security contracts.
Phil Cline is collecting a huge salary with the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation. Most charities publish their IRS 990 tax form on their website. The 990 tax form lists how much they collected, how much is their expense and how much they gave out. (https://www.irs.gov/Charities-&-Non-Profits/Annual-Reporting-&-Filing-1) Well surprise, surprise- the Memorial Foundation will not publish theirs on their very own website. What are you hiding Chicago Police Memorial Foundation? How much is Phil Cline making over there?
Ok big deal. Along with my radio, car keys and taser they will hand me a body camera. I will continue to work hard and make arrests. I do everything by the book anyways and have nothing to hide.
nothing on my am unless a Ten-1 I follow the traffic laws and get there safe. Always do the report or code. tour the area as necessary.
Go home safe
All about the retirement
I used to be against them but I changing my mind only if they show how the good citizens of chiraq really act during encounters with the police. But I'm sure the city / media won't show that part.
These body cam's have sure helped in LA. There has been more then one incident that has been reported in the LA media of blacks accusing cop's of racism, and all of the balderdash that goes with it. The usual voices in the LA race bating community ramp up the rhetoric. The LA police release the video showing what actually happened and there is the sound of a side of beef hitting a concrete floor and total silence from the professional race baiters. No apologies of course just silence. The accuser, now being useless to the cash flow of the race baiters is abandoned. It is too bad there wasn't consequences for such false accusations.
Since the media couldn't stir up riots in Chicago they switched back to Baltimore stating Baltimore's on edge now because one of the officers trial is starting today. We need isis to come in and straighten this country out. USA doomed
There was a group of cops in an area of LA infested with the homeless. There was a person who was assaulting people at random. The Cops moved in to arrest him and he became very violent. Being in the modern world there where numerous phone cameras recording the event. Suddenly one of the police shout "he has my gun" at this point this person is rightfully shot dead. This was not obvious in the phone camera videos but the body cam's clearly showed this person trying to get at the gun in the Policemen's holster. Think of side of beef hitting a concrete slab, and sudden silence from the homeless advocates.
The advice I would have coming form the information management area is to see if there is a way of keeping your body camera footage in you own personal storage files in the "cloud" to prevent funny business at the HQ from affecting these records, "cover thy ass".
hey midnight guy in 007 braggin how well u scored on the fto test!NEWS FLASH,the test is easy and no one wants that gig!you scored horrible on the sgt and et test! see u in 007 in the training district!we don't need ftos in slow districts moron!1
I will do absolutely nothing, and I do mean nothing if I have to strap on a body camera each day. Society must think we are wild animals whose behavior must be captured on video and studied to be understood. I never agreed to submit my every action and movement to video surveillance review. Not even the CIA does this to its employees at Langly.
14 isn't the District it once was. In the 80s& 90s it was Beefer Central.
Post the domestics on television , city will make a fortune for reality tv show .

It is now a NO "BREAK or Bargain" Bonanza!
I would have allowed you to leave, sir, however this interaction is being videotaped, and I would risk losing my job if I do. I have no choice now but to
(a) Arrest you for this violation (b) arrest you , and impound your mother's vehicle for this violation (c) issue you a citation for this violation.
This is what they (BLM and their ilk) wanted (and the city wanted) to prod activity-since you now have no choice...No more discretion or negotiation...
xx----xx----xx----xx----xx
Doubt those cameras hit the ghetto because police work will definitely stop. Get ready districts 16,17,18,19,20
If they do this citywide I'm getting foia requests on all videos, making a website, publishing all the typical ghetto bullshit for all to see. The world will finally get a raw unedited version of this shit show and I won't need vri or court to make side cash!
Tm
Fine with me. I have just under 10 years on and have finally seen the light! I used to love stopping cars and getting dope and guns thinking my hard work made a difference. Now, I enjoy going about my day being Officer Friendly. I say hello to the kids, let them hit the sirens if they want, give a wave to the citizens and continue on with my day. I don't mind having to get my hands dirty if they have to, but I sure as hell don't go looking for trouble anymore.
The body cameras were coming either way, with or without this incident. Officers don't want to wear them, Its not like anyone wants to carry another piece of equipment. There is no audio on the video of the criminal delinquent high on pcp because nobody was carrying the microphones. which are either lost or broken.
Why wasn't a Tazer used, Officers can't get the Tazer training certification required to carry because the Department only has the training once every 4 or 5 months. Try signing up after 1 or 2 days it is announced and all the seats are filled, or the request to get the training isn't approved by a supervisor fast enough. Every year we have to qualify with our weapons, and a couple more for the rifle. Both are a joke, but why don't they just certify or re-qualify with the tazer then it would take a few more minutes.
Don't for one second think that these videos aren't being watched and categorized by event number. These videos will be a treasure chest for politicians and defense attorneys to go after officers. Months after an incident officers will be called out to explain a video for unprofessional conduct (using profanity) or why the officer left the scene of a video incident but did not clear over the radio for 15 min. Anything this department gives you is for them not you.
Think about it like this, can we get a copy of every video incident and start a campaign of Chicago's most ignorant citizens. Can we publicize them for the mass group of law abiding lemmings that are following in lock step of the race pandering, thug loving, anti civil union church. Let the public see every encounter that erodes away at the expectation of civility and morality that police officers deal with on a daily basis and how we are expected to be like machines unaffected by atrocity and ignorance. No edits like CNN or MSNBC, the whole video.
With all the New Cams,...Will I be able to post the Vid of me Tasering a subject on FaceBook...?
Just ask'n...

Might be time to buy some Taser International stock.
11/30/2015 12:38:00 AM
--------------------------------------------------------------
Huge point here-- how many Tasers could have been bought with the $5 Million payout to the family of Tyshawn Lee?
If every cop had a Taser, maybe he would have still been alive.
CPD needs to be better equipped to handle people who just don't obey an order to "stop".
Forget the street cameras and body cams - buy everyone a Taser.
This is what is seen nationally. the fact is the Cops do what they are suppose do and do it right an over-whelming majority of the time. We know that most complaints cops get are BS. Citizens know the camera is on and know that making a complaint will go no where.
11/30/2015 01:02:00 AM
WRONG! Go check out the arrest que in the clear system for districts: 7, 11, 15, 10, 25, 4, 6, etc. and you will see that a lot of coppers are still making proactive arrests.
Once these cameras take hold city-wide and every copper
does the proper self-preservation oriented, career path and
work flow adjustment by giving the city the bland, flavorless,
un-exciting, strictly by the book/by the numbers Policing that
has become necessary in order for Policemen to protect themselves
from the #blacklivesmatter/"da communerty needs to take ovah CPD,"
/USDOJ-Civil Rights Investigations lynch mob.
Will the New Yuck sourced Compstat monster take kindly to being justifiably
starved to death of the statistical busy-work needed from Patrol Officers
to show the downward statistical manipulation of crime in Chicago until
"Crime" itself can be made to virtually disappear?
Heaping, double handfuls of rank, raw and riotous shit being pulled
out of the Compstat Hat... Rahm and Garry telling the intellectually
disinterested, low information, easily deceived and misdirected,
low information Chicago electorate that the shit in the hat is
actually cute and fluffy bunnies in spite of what their bald and naked
eyeballs see and the stink that is all too apparent.
"You cops think we're gonna let you just do the minimum requirements
of your jobs? You think we're gonna let you just respond, record/report,
arrest only on signed complaints?"
(Because Policemen are no longer viewed
as credible/competent enough to swear out complaints and make arrests stemming
from such self-initiated "activity" without Cook County Courts planting a big fat
Nolle/No P/C on those cases and exposing coppers to retaliatory allegations
of violating folks and peoples Civil Rights. Right?)
Watch for "Minimum Performance Standards" or some such, to be the big
retaliatory disciplinary jack-pot/screw-job that Rahm and McFlamingMoralBankrupt
/McTriedToStealAHeartDisabilityPension want to put in place.
That sound you heard was an entire Police Department sitting
firmly on it's hands in self defense.
#strictlybythebookreactivepolicing=stayoutofjailgetapension
>Snicker!<
...While Dean Angelo and the rest of FOP energetically
bark up a diversionary tree to make it look like they're
actually "doing something."
🎶 "Nothin' from nothin' leaves nothin'..."🎶
Right now these bogus scumbag lawyers that ,on a continuous bases files lawsuits against the police and or city are hating the idea of body cams. I would think that the city would announce that filing a bogus complaint is a felony and actually charge people. Scumbag lawyers have to be held accountable ( yeah right) when filing these BS lawsuits. Some states have made it to where if you file a bogus lawsuit ,you can and will be responsible for defendants legal fees and more. Lets see if the FOP makes this perfectly clear to lawmakers and the city.
Cameras will not change anything, for our betterment that is. It would be great if we could publicize the kind of disgusting behavior we see on a regular basis so that the whole world could bear witness to the reality of how many subhumans we actually have to deal with. But they will not see the recordings of the despicable savagery that goes on day to day, month to month, year after year. They will only see the 30 seconds of footage from one event where an officer had to make life or death split-second decision under extremely stressful and difficult circumstances. It would help to put things in perspective if we had that kind of balanced exposure, but unfortunately this is a pipe dream. Of course the camera will inspire a little more professionalism, maybe a little less profanity, and definitely detour unscrupulous habits of those under its eye. However, it changes nothing when dealing with the insane, the intoxicated, or those career bottom feeders who have nothing to lose because their whole existence is based on government enforced entitlements at the expense of the working tax payers. Are people going to be charged and prosecuted for making false accusations against officers when cameras exonerate them? Are they going to pay fines or fees for the hours and resources they used in making false allegations? If not, then this whole system is a one-way street that does not benefit citizens or officers. If we are to be held to a strict standard, then the repercussions for attempting to destroy someone held to that standard should be equally strict. Until we see this happen, the entire issue is pointless.
Body cams show us making Rescues and Saving babies, Bring em on.
Put the cameras on the tact and gang teams first. Then detective units.
"Ok big deal. Along with my radio, car keys and taser they will hand me a body camera. I will continue to work hard and make arrests. I do everything by the book anyways and have nothing to hide."
You softball.
Why is it, I don't understand-- cops always want a politician to wear a cam??? The answer I believe is correct, is cause society wants a cop to wear one, while the politician, they don't care about. Society cares more about what a cop is doing, and how much money they are retiring with... Than bozo the politician.
That's it.... more cameras and more event numbers.... yeah that's the ticket.
I actually thinks these body cams are a good idea. After all, if something isn't on video then it never happened, at least that's how it's playing out in court. Also I think it's great that people are now going to be able to see how the savages really act.
11/30/2015 12:42:00 AM
Just like they show the savage on traffic stops? yea. we all know that doesn't happen. how many traffic stops have been shown on the news to help a copper? none. only to jam them. Same thing will happen with the body cameras. What happens when your approaching a car and your body moves in the opposite direction(because of a noise distraction)and you end up pulling the guy out? a normal civilian thinks you had no reason to pull the guy out because the camera didn't show it. wanting these cameras is the smartest idea to end proactive police work. Getting dope and guns unless in plain view or a legit drop case means no more street stops unless its for an MCC violation. And I believe the saying is "if its not on paper it didn't happen".
Body cameras are much more ideal for 016/022/019/018..where normal sane people reside in the majority of the district. not the ghetto working districts with the walking dead.
You like cameras huh? Ok, police will not affect an arrest or write a report unless a victim can provide immediate video of the offence. No video = no crime. I'd hate to arrest someone for "no reason" just like they say all the time.

Honestly my heart sank when WGN reported Officer Van Dyke was escorted into his court hearing in handcuffs and leg shackles.
Really consider that necessary?
how about cameras on every citizen, every alderman, every elected official, inside every household, house and apartment, inside every government office......just for starters.....

throw in a search of former exempts against shareholders in Taser International going back to the Dept purchase of tasers
I find this debate interesting. It's proposed that cops who are wearing body cams are "not doing shit", or "going fetal", and that's why there were no complaints. That implies that cops who AREN'T wearing body cams "ARE doing shit", and are "NOT fetal". And yet, in every instance where a cop is found to have done wrong, pretty much every other cop (NOT every cop) is saying that he didn't do anything wrong...he's just being persecuted or whatever. So WHY would you need to adjust your tactics when wearing a body cam versus not wearing one?
Think about it, those of you who have an answer for everything. You don't have to be a cop to get a sense when someone is dodging an inconvenient fact. You're public employees, the taxpayer pays your salary, and your pension, and is going to be paying twice for that one. If accountability for actions is good enough for the civilian, it's good enough for the cop. THIS is a pleasant development as far as I'm concerned. And yes, I understand that there will be repercussions from this, I'm one of the ones who realizes that cops aren't responsible for my personal safety, cameras or not.
I really don't know what all the hub bub is all about. This is the C.P.D. Like the city, EVERYTHING is awarded to the lowest bidder.
Much like the Tasers and in car cameras, the body cams will break or malfunction and then they will either sit in the district radio room waiting to be picked up for repair ( which usually takes 2 - 3 weeks ) or as they break, they will be taken down to the repair shop (probably in the academy which will open up at LEAST 2-4 spots there) and you my wait for them (if they are not busy) or they will tell you to leave them and they will notify the district when to pick them up.
Wouldn't video of the kid on the windshield or stabbing the tire have been powerful? Wouldn't audio have resolved the 1st shot issue? All this talk about a coverup is BS. It would have been in the officers favor to have all that other stuff. It's the lack of maintenance and update after new equipment comes on board via the connected contract.

Training has the lowest priority in this department. McCarthy has never showed any interest in recruit training or in-serive training. Everything is video streaming at roll calls. Only when the department is sued, will training be increased. The academy had a viable in service section in the past. Now everything is video.
Off topic. Channel 5 warns residents of Lakeview about a pattern of armed robberies .
Big problem they refuse to identify the offenders .
Channel 7 identified offenders as male African Americans .
Looks like channel 7 wants to help the citizens of lake view .
Does channel 5 think lake view residents think all criminals are black ?
Body cam + "head" is a challenge! Fellow brothers with monsters beware! Make sure you have that body cam off while relieving yourself of a few beers.
I say body cameras for Rahm and all the alder thieves to be filming whenever they're conducting any type of city business.
You know for transparency and accountability purposes.
Easy fix don't stop people until they have actually committed the crime, REASONABLE SUSPICION to prevent a crime has been out the DOOR for years now and now even worst, good luck all, stay safe answer your calls cause the whole pro policing be the real police "BS" out the door and can possibly get you in jail as u can see it now!!!1

Mark did I hit a raw nerve? Why wait till next year? YOU bring it up at the next general meeting. I saw the books on a prior board and YOU , Dougherty, Aguilar, DiMaria, Gorman, Sal DeRivero, and McCarthy were ALL taking exempt pay.
Lawyer’s? Let’ talk about Dougherty’s lawyer. How much did his four sexual harassments law suits cost the lodge? ALL that shit happened while YOU were president. YOU orchestrated the demise of Shields and tore the last board apart.
Listen Hillary Donahue you may have been able with the help of the other lawyer downstate to erase a month’s worth of the state lodge’s emails during the Shields coup, but lodge 7 server was backed up. Don’t worry about the next election I think you may all be in Federal Court!
Do we have to warn people that the camera is live?
Will we have to read Miranda warnings just to investigate simple calls?
What if we don't and they confess on video. Will cases get thrown out and civil suits ensue?

Did a certain Sgt whose brother happens to be a Deputy named Stevie G scored high on the LT exam? I'm sure that's a rumor. No Sgt would ever cheat on a LT exam. Sgt's are our leaders. They lead.

I think Subject Matter Experts should wear body cameras so we can see who they "help" "study".......

hey midnight guy in 007 braggin how well u scored on the fto test!NEWS FLASH,the test is easy and no one wants that gig!you scored horrible on the sgt and et test! see u in 007 in the training district!we don't need ftos in slow districts moron!1
11/30/2015 09:58:00 AM
relax, francis. why so upset? worry about yourself. i bet the next paycheck your sorry ass is stuck on midnights in that shitty district for a while. at least theyre trying to make things work for them and giving it a try to maybe leave that shitty district. or at least to get away for that sorry excuse of a sgt ER. maybe u should of taken the fto test too so u could brag. of the guys who took it, 2 did pretty well in the et test and the other 2 didnt take either test so relax. sorry to bust your bubble but the dept is hurting for fto's and will likely let p.o.'s choose a district by seniority of course. thats what was done last time.rant over.
Thank God almighty I only have 4 yrs to go on this thankless bullshit job. Saved my pennies, maxed out from day 1 and my house is nearly paid off plus zero debt. Whew! Can you dig it
just like"mars" lights.a little nondescript company in the city that supplied both CPD & CFD with their emergency lighting for years up until the late 80's??(and they sucked).....kick backs...nah.a world wide company based just a few miles outside the city borders in blue island,il at the time, federal signal, was at the fore front of emergency vehicle lighting,but........was not located within the city limits, and could not kick back to both daley cabals...until it is heard a certain terry h. came into their corp. in some bullshit advisor role. voila.. federal signal lights on squads.have no clue what is being used now.it's all about the $$.
We can't even get holsters for the taser, but we are all going to have body cameras? But then it will be shown how the offenders attack police.
The department wouldn't let you go on the street without a vest, gun, or cuffs. And why, because based on past experiences it's more than likely we will need to cuff someone, shoot or worse be shot at. So why in the world would you hit the street without a functioning camera and mic since the likelihood of being wrongfully accused or worse sued in the course of taking police action. Push back and ask for working cameras, and mics. Write emails and To/Froms'. Do you really think the department will be able to keep up?
Screw Cook County. Video or no video the ASA's will do what they want when it comes to us. Just ask the P.O. who got punched in the eye over and over protecting police property during a peaceful protest.
OT: Just got home and saw FOP interviewed on TV. Scum-Times posted link. But it's two minutes long of a longer newscast. He says the right things. But let's admit it's hard to justify.....
Can't post my feeling on an open blog till it's over.
Cooter had his bodycam on @ his dentist visit. The face on his hygienist was priceless.
9:58am. I'm sorry for offending you or anyone else. Just a little enthusiastic to try something different. Thanks for pointing out I may have been expressing it in poor taste. You make a valid point. Stay safe out there.
RE KMA2016...
Hey SCC.....Deranged White man shoots up an abortion clinic in colorado, killing several people including a police officer......WHY NO POST OR DISCUSSION
just another deranged liberal transgender whacko...why discuss them further. Let's just get them the mental health help they need.
The problem is that for a police officer the term professional is a catch all that has come to mean "must eat shit." When you bring an especially nasty fuck to the e.r. The doctors and nurses don't act professional when they drug somebody to shut them up or no-lube catheterize them. Defense attorneys have never been professional. Politicians forget about it. Life or death volit situations and you are supposed to performs like a robot. To the satisfaction of a Monday morning quarterback. I couldn't guess at a profession that is in that situation more often than a police officer.
IPRA now investigates department equipment? or excessive force? or both?
Today I am calling for sweeping changes in the black community.
Not the entire black community, but the segment of the black community that
is a drain on governmental resources, and makes life unbearable for
honest hard working citizens. JJ and father faker need to step up and speak the truth.
The less I do
Like I said before, all you're gonna see on that video is me stuffing my face at Pequods. Now pass me a slice of sausage!

So how does him bragging hurt or bother you? You sound like a real piece of work, must be fun working with you. Sounds like youre a very anger, bitter person. Judging by your condescending attitude Im sure youre high up on the sgt and et list, right?
Anyone see Lil Dean-O doing crowd control for Jason Van Dyke? That midget was well enough to get pancaked in a sea of pushing and shoving. He did not look disabled to me. Unless being a little shrimp is a disability. If that's the case, he's definitely disabled.
Hey Lappe, Hey Hauser, how about it?
Why don't we put bodycams on the mayor, alderscum and McCarthy?!
""Think about it, those of you who have an answer for everything. And yes, I understand that there will be repercussions from this, I'm one of the ones who realizes that cops aren't responsible for my personal safety, cameras or not.""
++++++++++++++++
An interesting thought. A couple clarifications though:. We are taxpayers as well and pay into our pension as well as paying twice again in increased taxes, just like you. Rahm announced amnesty for all the ticket dodgers recently(again). Just ask a copper if we're eligible for that, HAH!. Accountability for actions are not for the citizen. Ask the copper who the SA dropped the aggravated battery charges against. No accountability. Ask the citizens if they were ever prosecuted for frivolous complaints. No accountability. Citizens who never work in blighted areas just don't get how stupid and crazy people can act on a daily basis. You probably also don't have a job where you can lose everything for your action/inaction.
The 'inconvenient fact' is that police work gets down and dirty, especially in the ghetto. There are tactics that are used to maintain some semblance of order that some may seem as questionable,(not illegal, questionable) but work the streets for a while and you'll see what I mean. Our job is to uphold the Constitution, yes, but police work necessarily operates on the very edges of it. Cover up the very edges with cameras and such, and productivity will fall. At some point you have to trust officers to do what needs to be done. Apparently at this place and time, nothing we do is correct, so the proper answer is: do nothing. We're very good at adapting to whatever way the political winds are blowing.
Gonna have to speak in code with the partner now like that scene from casino where Joe pesce calls deniro's tapped phone. All that cameras gonna record is what appears to be snowflakes falling in the squad while I sit on my ass eating all shift!! Not really but would be nice. I will answer the calls
Lawyer’s? Let’ talk about Dougherty’s lawyer. How much did his four sexual harassments law suits cost the lodge? ALL that shit happened while YOU were president. YOU orchestrated the demise of Shields and tore the last board apart.
I'm glad you brought that up. Lodge 7 should get ready for the next lawsuit. The Lodge paid six figures to the paralegal, not because there was a judgment against FOP. They just paid her off. Decided they didn't want to wait until the lawyers suit against her. Well the suit is over and the paralegal his written a letter saying that her suit was meritless. Prior lawsuits were against Bella and Fallon not the attorney. The hits just keep on coming.
Not Donahue!!
Never ever give a pass for revoked or suspended driver license , sounds like a lazy police officer .
Body cams for alderman , IPRA investigators , police officers on disability , body guards assigned to politicians would make a good segment for 10:00 pm news .
im on a tac team where I have been for the last 16 years. three years in gangs before that and 5 years on the watch before that. Im too old of a dog anymore to worry about what some other guy who is wearing a camera might or might not catch on an arrest im involved in... sorry cpd, after 24 years of working day in and day out I gotta be done. I was gonna stay on tac till I retire for the schedule but the way I see it I can get the bid spot for the desk in my district on any of the three watches. not bitter about it all, not a conspiracy theorist or of the thinking that everyone is out to get you but the times are the times. The current world of doing proactive police work the way is is SUPPOSED to be done no longer exists. You are only a fol to do it. I usually would say that guys who go above and beyond are heros but now they are just ballsy heros... guys who are doing a good job but is the clock ticking on them of when something bad happens to them???? i hope not but its just a clock ticking down on workers now. The department use to be that the workers were "cool" and all stuck together with a small minority of dogs and do nothings... Now, the dogs and do nothings are the strong majority of this department who look down upon the foolish few who still do work on this job. Body cams are coming to my district.. I have 24 going on 25 years. I turn 50 in a year and a half.. Im gonna hit a safe job for a few years and ride out slowly with the sun on my shoulders.. I advise many of you rethink how you do work from here on out..
Sgt's will be required to wear them also!!!
Just like the 0bama blue traffic cards. They found no bias year after year, but they keep renewing the stupid program because, just because we aren't doing anything wrong now...
If Hillary gets elected president, this siege of the police and good people will continue, if we are smart and elect a republican, the witch hunt will be at bay for at least 4 years. You fucking dummies, I used to be out there doing things, now, you get some parkers, a burglar alarm from time to time and some movers each month. I'm not going to go out there and be very aggressive, some fucking punk will talk shit and I'll want to slap him, ain't happening. You can eat shit and die, I am through getting called filthy names by community organizers that are useless dogs. The citizens will begin to cry, but they allowed this to happen with their votes.
So get body cams for 100% of officers just to account for the .01% of bad cops. Great idea. There goes more $$$$$$

Wish they would've piloted those things in a district like 007 or 011 (sorry guys) instead of gentrified 014. Then maybe they'd see what REALLY happens.
11/30/2015 08:23:00 AM
Bingo! Theres a reason it was piloted in a softer district like 014 so they can boast how the results show a decline in any kind of harsh policing. I have an idea. Let the PO's who have the highest number of CRs in the city pilot these initial 1400 cameras? Instead of picking softballs to represent them?
To 6:39 - the city uses Code 3 lighting now. It sucks. Bring back the old Whelen strobe light bars.
11/30/2015 01:02:00 AM
WRONG! Go check out the arrest que in the clear system for districts: 7, 11, 15, 10, 25, 4, 6, etc. and you will see that a lot of coppers are still making proactive arrests
----------
Read that post again, stupid. Body cameras aren't in those districts yet.
Anyone see Lil Dean-O doing crowd control for Jason Van Dyke? That midget was well enough to get pancaked in a sea of pushing and shoving. He did not look disabled to me. Unless being a little shrimp is a disability. If that's the case, he's definitely disabled.
He was out there helping an officer in the cold, rainy weather pushing back the mob. Were you?

Excellent, excellent, excellent. Well put office.
I think the big contract down the road will not be issued to Taser. Instead, the contract will awarded to Motorola Solutions. The headquarters of the company is moving to to a Canal Street highrise from Schamburg. Emanuel is best buds with Brown the CEO of Motorola. A little payback for the jobs coming into the city.
Just my two cents from a guy who works in the financial community.

If you can't uphold the Constitution wearing a body-cam, then you're not upholding it now.
Would you trust a judge or lawyer "to do what needs to be done" and try a case without a Record or a written opinion? Would you want Congress or the Senate to cast every vote secretly? Of course not. We make their most important actions public so we can know if they should be trusted.
Body cams produce a record of a cop's most important actions, his arrests and his use of force.
If productivity does fall because of cameras, at some point the courts and the legislature will decide that your "questionable tactics" are necessary tactics, and you can go back to doing them in the open.
Finally, CPD Incident Review finds 99 out of one hundred "excessive/unauthorized use of force" to be unfounded. If body cams bear those numbers out then BLM and Jesse etc. can go jump up their own asses, right? What's the downside?
Tribune reports that the mayor trying to save his head severe the head of another: superintendent mc carthey.
well sounds like the tribune is saying it's okay to kill a pig?
Tribune supports Black Peace Stone Rangers!?
Stay out of the news my friends and stay fetal!
Let them people's: live their own lives without us!
