RDO cancelled for tact teams as far as I know.
All tac teams and units have their RDO's canceled... This "Chi-town rising" event is huge it is like 5 blocks long, the department has known about it for 6 months, but of corse they wait till 6 days before to form a plan. Be careful everyone!

With terrorist threats being such a concern you would think the department would have a unit at the ready to respond. We can't rely on SWAT it would be too late. CPD should have officers who are carbine operators and possess their own, patrolling and visible for deterence. They should be at the airports or downtown etc. There should be a unit created for this or maybe just a 24 hour OT program. We have OT programs for everything else why not one for carbine operators? Visibility is deference.
Revolversaurus mentioned in a post a few threads back that the city infrastructure[rail road underpasses and the like] need special attention for an hour or two on New Years Eve. I agree.

The leaders of this city and department are so scared of how things look to the public instead of doing what's smart to protect the public. The only way to deter or stop a terrorist attack is meeting force with equal force. Long guns vs Long guns. We should have rifle qualified POs patrolling various areas with their long guns. If the leaders are foolishly scared about "how it looks" then keep the POs in their cars but at least have them there. Start an OT opportunity for rifle qualified POs or a unit. SWAT is great but we can't wait for them. We need long guns visible and on patrol at vulnerable locations. It's common sense. I'm sure numerous carbine POs would sign up for the OT. We need to take action now not after an attack. Wake up! Get the long guns visible!
More than likely to "protect" the police hating Ch 5 and their shit show with the rising star. It would be great if someone steals Mary Ann Ahern's "I-foam" and then Rob Elgas can do an in depth investigation of the lack of coverage for their self-serving media event. What do they put out in a bulletin, some bullshit about him being a witness to a crime and if identified contact the Intelligence Section. WTF is that about. This male was observed inside Soldier Field weeks ago around 0500 hours with a video camera and a still camera taking pictures of damn near every square inch of the facility including the vending machines.
Here is the kicker Monterrey Security watched him for nearly a half an hour, then they approach him and he flees on foot getting away. The real scary part is these idiots failed to notify CPD for several days. Why the hell this is not being plastered all over the news is beyond me. So for anyone going to Soldier Field I would advise against it.
I fully expect our Department to lie to us but the fact that they hide this from us is completely absurd. Instead they want us to chase the protestors, all while these terrorists lie in wait for a perfect opportunity to strike.

Imaging if they attacked the airports. There's almost zero armed presence there. If anything maybe a few old timers with revolvers. We need guys patrolling with rifles. That's the only way to possibly stop or deter an attack. SWAT is too far away. Start an OT program for qualified rifle cops. Have them deployed like VRI but at vulnerable places like the airports. Be proactive Chicago!

When those genius Alderman changed the proper amount of officers needed to keep the City in check (13,500) it became apparent that everything is an emergency now! I don't recall the lovely 1990's with project buildings ever crying wolf this many time a year.
Summer festivals, playoffs,visiting presidents, and of course terrorist who post on twitter! Now if the exempts actually had training on leading troops and controlling riots or mass arrest I would feel somewhat at ease.
Next contract may need some stipulation on this every things a emergency because we are understaffed! Come up with a special employment for those officers begging for overtime scraps.

Unless you're part of the unit, why SHOULD you need to know anything about their operation? Shouldn't that be part of the definition of an anti-terror unit? You're not on the 'need to know' list, so get over it.

I guess we are the most important entity in chicago if its so imperative that we have to work on holidays no matter what. I had plans to go to cuba but i guess i have to cancel them.

I know I have to work holidays when scheduled, and I know stuff comes up.... But cancelling RDO's with only 6 days notice, for an event they have known about for 6 months is complete bullshit... even if you are in a tac team, unit, etc...
If there is not a manpower shortage, WHY DO THEY KEEP CANCELLING RDO's?
Read the Chi-Town order. No RDO's cancelled for P.O.'s except for Tac and Gangs. Elective time due is cancelled unless you put in a P-Day (before the 10 Day time frame).
