Thirteen Death Investigations

  • Skull fragments found in a Fuller Park industrial building are human and were likely donated to science "long ago," according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

The bones were found Monday morning as the floor was being dug up at the building in the 200 block of West Root Street, officials said.

"The 13 fragments of human skulls included cranial caps, bases of skulls that had been sectioned and mandibles," the office said in a statement. "The bones had been previously sawed in a manner consistent with dissection for teaching purposes and/or autopsy. One non-human bone was also examined."
Suuuuure they were. Rahm doesn't need the homicide rate going any further up that it already has. This is exactly the story we'd come up with, too, if we were Garry McCompStat.

Yeah that its all those crazy medical students have multiple skull and bury them!
even thou a real skull goes for a grand on the black market today.

The medical examiner will never say how the skulls ended up in that area.
I hope the Dicks just keep it as a death investigation till DNA pops. SO near Bridgeport too?

Yes . . . I suspect the cranial remains were as a result of some of Chicago's best and brightest Honor Students boning up on basic anatomy. One would expect nothing less of aspiring brain surgeons.

Dem bones, dem bones, dem crazy bones

They linger for some time

But, blood and meat are one fine treat

Turned quickly into slime

So, when dem bones, dem crazy bones

Pop up from time to time

I say a prayer and leave them there

Which, for me, is not a crime

Aren't there tests to determine how long ago the person died from the bone chemistry and radio-chemistry?
If so, how old are the bones?

They were found right in the general area that Family Secrets' trial testimony stated that the Outfit buried bodies. Remember when they dug up the lots around Cellular Field? Just saying.

...or maybe Adolph Luetgert. Remember him?

From what I "excavated" today, there really could be some kinda "sausage factory" thing here.

Remember 'em ground-radaring and digging up that front yard over on Elston re. the Gacy thing? Maybe it's time to throw a "stop work" on whatever this is on Root St. and go through it good.

So why were the bones in the floor? Hmmmmmm, that's my take.

Let's not mention that Samuel Saikin, the guy who owned both the warehouse and the "Biological Research Products" company was charged with murder and obstruction of justice after his own son testified that he had killed Ella Jean Scott in the warehouse at 243 W Root after he failed in his attempt to lobotomize her and adopt her as his own daughter to keep as his sex slave...... And of course Sam Saikin admitted burying her body on his farm but blamed his son for murdering her. Of course he had Peter Georges for a defense attorney, and Hanrahan was the State's Attorney back then so he walked after 3 months in prison.

Now we find numerous human skulls and parts concealed under concrete at the scene of his known and admitted lobotomy attempt/murder. Nothing to see here...move along

Bone Fragments Found in South Side Warehouse are from Human Skulls: Medical Examiner

Building where human skulls were found once housed biological specimen facility and were most likely donated to science years ago.

Beverly-MtGreenwood, IL
By Lorraine Swanson (Patch Staff) January 20, 2016 12:01 am ET

"A mysterious discovery of bones unearthed during excavation of a South Side warehouse on Monday are from human skulls, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office said.

"The 13 bone fragments were found at 243 W. Root in the city’s Fuller Park neighborhood. The building owner was tearing up the floor when he found what police termed “unusual objects.”

"The bones, described as five skulls and a jawbone, were bagged and turned over to the medical examiner and Central Area detectives.

"Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Stephen Cina examined the bones Tuesday, along with a forensic anthropology consultant.

"The 13 fragments of the human skulls included cranial caps, bases of skulls that had been sectioned and mandibles, the medical examiner’s office said in a news release.

"The bones had been previously sawed in a manner consistent with dissection for teaching purposes or autopsy. Only one of the bones was determined to be non-human during Tuesday’s examination.

"The Medical Examiner’s Office will not issue a death certificate or perform additional studies on the skull fragments.

"Investigators determined the remains were likely donated to science long ago. According to the investigation, the building where the bones were found once housed a biological specimen facility.

"The building is reportedly for sale."

Crime: Between Father and Son

Friday, Oct. 03, 1969

"When police first recovered the body of 18-year-old Ella Jean Scott from a grave on a Chesterton, Ind. farm last February, their chief problem lay in deciding which of two conflicting stories to believe. According to slim, handsome Joel Saikin, 25, his father Samuel, 49, had murdered the go-go dancer in his Chicago warehouse and enlisted his son's help in disposing of her body. According to the elder Saikin, Joel was the girl's killer. Joel passed a lie-detector test, and the authorities put papa on trial for murder. But after hearing all the evidence in a Chicago courtroom last..."
