Aldercreature Smacked
- Chicago Ald. Walter Burnett Jr. was attacked as he was entering his office on the Near West Side Thursday night.
One of his staff members said a man approached Burnett and punched him square in the face as he was arriving for "Constituent Night". The alderman suffered a cut but declined to be taken to a hospital.
According to that staff member, the alleged offender had threatened the alderman earlier in the day. He came into the office and said he was going to kill Burnett as well as Mayor Rahm Emanuel. It's unclear what he was angry about.
Burnett is currently serving his sixth term as alderman of the 27th Ward, which covers parts of the North and West sides.
You think Chicago might be short police now Wally? Or does a lack of police make it easier to get away with armed robbery, something we recall you have some sort of experience with.

Dude,
Don't attack him the same day you threatened him. You are making it too easy for the man to scoop you up.
And threatening the Midget Mayor? You know you are going to be found.
Cool down, walk away. Decide if that little bit of violence is really worth the time and trouble.
Walter Burnett is a stand up guy. He has been supportive of the police since taking office. And yes, 40 years ago he had a run in with the law... served his time and has made something of himself, which other members of his community should follow. "Couldn't Happen To A Nicer Guy" was not deserving.
Burnett claimed that he was a golden gloves boxer in school. Too bad he didn't give the ass wipe a good beat down.
If the Aldermans claiming that the guy is in fact mentally ill then why is everyone reporting he got arrested. Did the Alderman signed complaints on a mentally ill/ challenge poor guy?
The guy is alleged to have said, "Mr. Alderman you can't see me" and received the 5 knuckle shuffle!
I think that we should look into what he was angry about .
Looks like another self important type will be demanding 24/7 CPD bodyguards pretty soon
"...According to that staff member, the alleged offender had threatened the alderman earlier in the day. He came into the office and said he was going to kill Burnett as well as Mayor Rahm Emanuel. It's unclear what he was angry about. >>>"t
Did his staff make a police report then.
I don't think so.
The TV news that I saw said that Burnett was a former Golden Gloves Boxer. Burnett said he thought the offender was having mental health issues and wanted to go after him but his staff said he might have a gun. The reporter also said the Burnett voted with the mayor to cut mental health spending. Go figure, it was something else to steal like police services.
Will Burnett ask for and get a CPD bodyguard detail like Eddie Burke?
Maybe, he needs it more than Eddie does.
The offender from this Sat in the 012 dist lock-up overnight. He has a misd cannabis charge and 3 FELONY CHARGES against him. Burnett did not receive any significant injuries.
But what happened when the copper got hit in the eye during the protests, on film, needed to be hospitalized, and had injuries that prevented him from returning to work? Charges dropped next day, at the request of an alderman.
Remember, you're just a cop.
When is Rahm' s turn?

Did you see the tv interview where he did not say "kill" but merely get him and the mayor! Is that a rule anything violation? Did he lie on an "official report?" Joel furgeson got anything to say? So guy attacker is crazy according to doctor Walters diagnosis why was he not taken for mental health treatment and not arrested? Walter didn't you vote with rahm to close the mental health facilities? Karma train your on it! How about how many other innocent people beat by mentals throughput city/ state due to gross negligence of your elected elite closing down places that helped them?
This ass hat was the alderman of the 012 district back in the 90s till now... Only in Chicago whould the Low Information Voters elect a " CONVICTED ARMED ROBBER " as their alderman....As long as they have a Criminal Record ,their TRUSTED by the peoples in the hood. What a waiste of Human Life.
Really "Walter has been supportive of the police --where has that happened . All of the buildings he owns and the drug dealers that occupy them. Please . And when has he stood up during budget hearings and asked for more police .
Who knows? Maybe the alderman stiffed him on a pack of squares when they were in the joint.
No charges should be filed correct? Because that's what we do now, we take punches from the public and just go about business.
Maybe it should happen to some more aldercreatures. Then maybe they will start listening to their constituents, and stop making deals that benefit their pockets!! He was not mental ill he was just feed up with all his BS!!
Being an ex-convict, you would think Walter learned boxing while serving time in the joint... guess not!
What did the five fingers say to the face?
About time the citizens go after their so-called community leader.
Guess his Ward is tired of him doing nothing.
A former felon, serving as alderman by virtue of a gubernatorial pardon which restored his civil rights. How many cities can boast of having a convicted attempted bank robber on its city council?
The Commonwealth of Virginia has shown us the way of future Democratic electoral majorities by restoring convicted felons to the voting rolls. The civil rights agitators were upset that the tradition of disenfranchising felons was hurting the black vote.
Ed Burke should be in jail next to Rich Daley
There is another issue here that Rafheal Taylor, aka, 'Lucifer' is nuttier than a Payday bar. Alderman Burnett is fortunate that he wasn't injured more seriously but this is the misery that's been dumped on police to deal with. I work in a public building and there's a serious uptick in homeless, mentally ill individuals who self-medicate with booze and drugs, pass out in restrooms, shit and piss on the carpeting, the furniture, and scare the living hell out of regular people who pay my salary. There are few resources for the mentally ill and we're not equipped nor trained to deal with it but the public expect the police to fix everything. The rights of the mentally ill, some of them violent, not to take their medications, nor have recourse to any kind of treatment plays havoc on society and takes away the rights of people to live in their own communities. Maybe that punch in the face will shake a few brain cells loose and create an epiphany that we need a safety net and not all police interactions with delusional, hallucinating, wacked out their mind, individuals will end well but I sure as hell doubt it.
Burnett is a convicted bank robber. He gave his mom $20,000 out of his aldermanic slush fund in 2008 and refused to apologize. I HIGHLY doubt his claim that he was a golden gloves boxer. What year did you enter the tournament Wally? We'll look up your bracket. I call bullshit on this jailbird.
>>>>> ' The alderman suffered a cut but declined to be taken to a hospital. ~~~snip~~~ Police confirm they're investigating the alleged battery and said they have a man in custody.' <<<<<
A cut, no biggie. So I'll assume that the **poor frustrated constituent** will have the charges dismissed / case dropped when this goes to court, right? After all, that's what happens when you Police are attacked and bloodied by Protesting Rabble-rousing Anarchists -- even when a trip to the hospital IS required, and when it's captured on video too.
I mean we can't have two classes of victims in Chicago; Alder-Creatures and Police. That just wouldn't be proper, not even in in Crook County.
Yeah, right...and I have this Bridge I'm selling too.
The whole thing was shown on Channel 2 News, they have video. Since everything in Chicago is political, especially when you punch-out an elected official; it is being blamed on Rahm closing down neighborhood mental health facilities. If the young Brother had access to mental healthcare, this would not have happened. Sort of like the other young brother who punched out the other young brother, who was subsequently run over by a cab and killed. After three other young brothers, robbed him of his wallet and cell phone as he was lying on the ground. NOW, AFTER SEEING ALL THESE IMAGES OF "CHICAGO VALUES", WOULD YOU WANT TO SPEND SOMETIME THIS SUMMER VISITING CHICAGO WITH YOUR WIFE AND KIDS? At what point do we acknowledge that things are getting out of control? Baby "G"
Hey Alderman,
Why don't you lead by example and forgive your attacker and have the courts give the man time served?
A bitch slap for a bitch, nothing more.

Thanks Shawn, you've been kissing his ass for 20 years and you're a fto, wow talk about being richly rewarded. Mush is as Mush does.
Why didn't Burnett arrest him after the first go around. Last I checked threatening a public official is a crime. Joey Bags can vouch for that. What's the purpose of those little gold stars and conservator of the peace powers if you're afraid, or don't know how to use them. Use it or lose it.

Thanks for checking in, Alderman. How's your eye?
Gets punched at his part time job, dam
Hey can I get Alderman Walter Burnett's contact information? I need a fighter to take a real fall in the first round on tonight's card.
Fuck the 50 slime bags!
Fuck both shitheads, they deserve each other!
Bitch slapped ain't nothing.
At least he didn't get his coconut stapled like Robert Zwolinski, (ran against state Rep. Cynthia Soto (D-Chicago) in the state's 4th District).
Surprising the locked him up (prob on Supv. orders).
And hey hard chargers looking for CB's, take it easy.
Where's a RAP when you need one?
Doesn't Walt know public servants are subject to all sorts of indignity?

When interviewed on TV he said he was going to take action.
BUT his staff said don't do it he might have a gun.
Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor.
Now he will want an Eddie Burke bodyguard detail.
If punched Rahm would shriek like a little girl.
I'd love to see that and I hope his bodyguards have turned fetal.
He would also wonder, Why? Why do people hate me so much?
"One of his staff members said a man approached Burnett and punched him square in the face as he was arriving for "Constituent Night."
Evening a great success!
The people have spoken.

Alderman Burnett likes to ridicule mentally ill people and he must have been teaching it to Mayor Rahm. Part of his comments was that the man pushed him after he punched him, so he could not come back on him. Why was he trying to come back on a mentally ill person? It is obvious he can not fight or he would have ducked or blocked the punch, not come back on him. He sucks & the gang members he likes to host have been threatening him for the last three years, at least. He got what he deserved.
The Mental Health Clinics like everything else in this city are racist and do not do their job reporting harassment of their patients by gangs and thugs. There should be a standard that they have to live up to, to keep getting their funding. They are also supposed to report potentially dangerous individuals to the police department. I am not an Officer, but I guess you can check to see if they actually do it. As it is, they get their money and do not really care about anything else.
The guy who punched the alderman was not a mental. He is a career drug dealer, and user. There is a difference.
Oh yeah, and he is being held on a $100,000 bond.
