Almost Down the Memory Hole
- Two weeks ago, the Chicago Teachers Union hosted a rally designed to gin up support for a potential teacher strike.
The rally included closing remarks from a teacher — not a union member because she teaches at a private school — who yelled into the microphone, "F--- the police, f--- CPD, f--- the FOP. F--- the police and everybody f------ with them."
Yes, a rally hosted by educators and attended by many children who were out of school that day ended with an important lesson. One fool can cast a long shadow.
The remarks drew immediate rebuke from the Fraternal Order of Police, the union representing police officers, along with many Chicago Public Schools teachers who support CTU's broad agenda but not its radicalization.
As we said almost two weeks ago, it's going to be a cold day in hell before Karen Lewis addresses or refutes any portion of this asshole's statements. Already it's a distant memory to most people. Funny how that happens whenever leftists get caught doing the things that they would castigate the right for doing, even if those things are imaginary in most cases.

It is all part of being a lefty progressive activist.
Why shouldn't the Teachers of the CTU f--- the police?
The Mayor f---s the police.
The Alderthieves f--- the police.
Even the States Attorneys and the Judges f--- the police.
It's OK because the left is doing the bidding of the powers that be .
The person yelling was a Rahm supporter.
People talk about the code of silence with police, but, what about the CPS code of silence? What is that? It's the code CPS employees adhere to get their nice little deals and those of their unqualified brothers and sisters to continue to come in.
First, there was the unbelievable one-time payouts from cashing in unused sick days and then using those payouts to enhance their pensions by as much as $6000/year.
Next, everyone found out about CPS teachers only putting in 2% of the 9% pension pickup into their own pensions since 1981. This while all other city employees put in the full 9% with Rahm trying and failing to get some city employees to put in 11%.
After this, we found out teachers were getting raises, the 7% pension pickup by CPS, COLA, and Step/Lane Increases every year since 1982.
Now, it's been found out some lower level employees (clerks, teacher assistants, and school-based helpers) have been getting a $250 every Spring Break for just doing their jobs.
"(CTU) Union officials were outraged about the elimination of the $250 bonus paid for more than a decade to those who work as school clerks, teacher’s assistants and other school-based helpers."

I never heard of these bonuses before, what were they for?
They are all pathetic.
Karen Lewis also called Gov Rauner a terrorist (as shown on ABC/Channel 7 news)
so there are no expectations for her to condemn anyone yelling F the Police
Hey, just go around these schools and find fault with the teachers cars. Give them tickets if possible.
To all the Lewis supporters on here,do you still think she's great for "standing up to Rahm"?
She accurately represents the CTU members.
SCC- You are correct, why would Lewis even have a Charter school teacher address the crowd? Aren't Charter schools the big bad wolf for the CTU? Lewis is a fool when it comes to community/police relations.
I'm movin 2 De troit! Later!
She's born and raised in Beverly. Dealt with her on a local scoop years back before she was with Trib. Level headed gal.

Not a distant memory for me, I have a very very long memory and influence a lot of votes that are never going to vote for anything ever again that impacts the teachers in a positive way.
The new 'out of control' hellhole aka CPS school is Lake View High School, where the restorative justice concept is flopping BIG time. The restorative justice concept may work on tweeners, but, not on the bad and violent students (which Lake View has an overabundance on these days, especially as 78% of their students come from outside their neighborhood).
This past Tuesday, there was a shooting as the Lake View students where leaving from their last class and this is on the heels of a shooting threat (which had many parents pulling their kids out of school after the principal failed to warn them earlier this year) and ELEVEN arrests in or near Lake View since February 3rd.
Link to the shooting link:
https://www.dnainfo.com/chicago/20160415/lakeview/gunfire-near-lake-view-high-school-might-have-been-aimed-at-student
The problem is Lake View's administrators' noses are too close to the CPS brass' ass in terms of doing exactly what CPS tells them and not getting rid of the problematic and dangerous felons, aka students, if you want to call them students. This is all about bringniong down the number of expulsions and suspensions at any cost, including the safet yu of the faculty and the good students. In fact, one Lake View student bit his teacher aide aka babysitter assigned to watch him and his expulsion was denied by CPS.
Lake View High School is a mess this year with two new deans (one from a charter school, the other working as an intern with no prior experience) allowing students to do what they want without any repercussions. The troublemaking students are doing whatever they want and laughing at their teachers trying to maintain order in their classes. The several BAD students know NOTHING will happen to them and they're RIGHT!!!
This liberal 'restorative justice' concept has caused a big riff inside between the teachers and the two new deans and Lake Views' administration. It's a GIANT mess there and something really bad is going to happen there soon if things don't change.
Look at the link here from "Every Block", the arrests under 4000 block of North shland ave. is Lake View High School:
http://chicago.everyblock.com/streets/chicago/ashland-ave/4000-4098n/?only=crime
Many people may love Principal Scott Grens and his three assistant principals for their academic rpogressat Lake View, but, they get an 'F-' for removing two longtime deans in favor of Beavis and Buthhead. How does this discipline problem extend outside Lake View? The problematic students are now getting risky and upping their game outside the school, which led to the shooting the other day.

Why?
Should everybody 'find fault' with us every time a boss holds a press conference and says something stupid? Something we don't agree with at all, but what the hell, that boss represents ALL the police, right?
If you really want to tick off teachers with tickets, give them a ticket for having too many city stickers on their windshield, not properly displaying their permits to park by their school, or not having a sticker at all as 1/4 of them get to live in the suburbs, IN, or WI.
Last Friday afternoon, the president of the Chicago Teachers Union, Karen Lewis, was speaking before an audience of thousands. It was the headliner rally of Chicago’s “day of action,” a massive citywide protest that brought together a disparate coalition of organizations: most prominently the teachers union but also the Fight for $15 group of low-wage workers, transit workers, nurses, South Side community groups involved in the fight for a trauma center in Hyde Park, pro-Palestinian activists with “Free Rasmea Odeh” signs, and multiple offshoots of the Black Lives Matter movement. All had come together in a remarkable European-style “general strike” to protest the austerity policies of Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner.
While Lewis, who is black, was speaking, a group of young black attendees at the front of the crowd started chanting “Get cops out of schools!” loud enough for her to hear, according to several rally attendees. Lewis paused and told the chanters, “I tell you what—the cops are not our enemies."
No one likes Scott Grens. As this is now the 3rd time this school year, Staff and Student safety has been endangered.
