- A Bucktown boutique has a message for would-be thieves: Stop robbing us.
Apartment Number 9, at 1804 N. Damen Ave., was first hit by a "smash and grab" burglary last February that saw several articles of clothing stolen from the high-end boutique. Last Tuesday, there was more trouble, says the shop's manager.
"Chicago Police called me at 4:40 am on Tuesday and said that our door was damaged in an apparent attempt to break-in and that although our door was damaged, they weren't able to break it and get inside," said Apartment Number 9's manager Fatima Mohiuddin.
She decided not to file an official report but did a write a note to the would-be bad guys.
"Dear thieves, please stop robbing or attempting to rob us. We are definitely not interested, not to mention it isn't very nice," wrote Mohiuddin in a note taped to the storefront window last week.
It's almost charming that she assumes these miscreants can read, isn't it?

I can't recall the last time a qualified republican actually ran for any office in Cook County or in the city. Are they bought off? Are they all part of the cabal that Kass writes about? Do they think that they do not have a chance so why spend the money? Who knows. But, I do know one thing that the Chicago Police dept is way understaffed and morale is very low. What a mistake merging 012 & 013 was. I cannot fathom what this summer will be like. When do the retirees leave for the 55 & out? May of '17 ? We are so shorthanded. Now that I hear about the payment for the secret study group, it makes more sense. One of two sergeants who were part of the secret study group were heard complaining loudly that she "paid good money for the test" and did not even get the right version. It would appear to me that to spread the score, the powers that be gave out slightly different versions of the test. Supposedly, the version that Area South was "studying from" had one question wrong. Unfortunately, the Area South participants did not score enough to make the first class but scored in the 40's and 80's. That is still a score that will make them lieutenants and my bosses as the next classes get promoted.
